Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #And he washed his face and went out and refrained himself and said, Set on bread, And they set on for him by himself and for them by themselves because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the Egyptians. And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright and the youngest according to his youth and the men marveled one at another. And he took and sent messes unto them before him, but Benjamin's mess was five times so much as any of theirs. And they drank and were merry with him. Gen. 43:31-34

Joseph has gathered himself and placed his brethren in order according to their birth order. The Egyptians have left them alone since it would be an abomination for them to eat with the Hebrews. Joseph's brothers are amazed that he knew how to put them in the correct birth order. Nevertheless, they drank and made merry together, which reminds us of the celebration that will take place in the Kingdom, when the Lord Jesus will have delivered the kingdoms of this world to Israel as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Joseph has now fulfilled all that he needed to in order to reveal himself to his brethren. Never will they be separated again as God will unite the entire family. Jesus said let not your hearts be troubled, ye believe in God believe also in me, for in my Father's house are many mansions. If it were not so I would have told you. For I go to prepare a place for you, that where I am, there ye shall be also. Forever shall we be in the presence of the Savior, and never will we be separated for all eternity.

  • #And he said Peace be to you, fear not, your God and the God of your father, hath given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto them. And the man brought the men into Joseph's house and gave them water and they washed their feet and he gave their asses provender. And they made ready the present against Joseph came at noon: for they heard that they should eat bread there. And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house and bowed themselves to him to the earth. And he asked them of their welfare and said, is your father well, the old man of whom ye spake? Is he yet alive? And they answered, Thy servant our father is in good health, he is yet alive. And they bowed down their heads and made obeisance. And he lifted up his eyes and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother's son and said, is this your younger brother, of whom ye spake unto me? And he said God be gracious unto thee, my son. And Joseph made haste; for his bowels did yearn upon his brother and he sought where to weep and he entered his chamber and wept there. Gen. 43:23-30

Joseph is at the moment he hoped for to see his brother Benjamin, and after telling his brothers; Peace be still, fear not, he is acting as Jesus did to the disciples, for when they were away, He would always greet them, Peace be still, Fear not it is I. What a meeting this is as the bowels of Joseph cannot take it anymore when he sees Benjamin, his mother's son, he has to still away to weep. It reminds us of when Jesus wept for Lazarus, as Mary and Martha thought that Jesus would keep him from dying. Jesus told them if you would believe, you would see a miracle from God. Truly, it is a miracle for Joseph to be united with all his brothers and they have a great feast, just as when the prodigal son was home to the Father. Praise God for family thank God for having someone to be concerned about your health and whereabouts. The family is God's gift to man, and to honor father and mother is the commandment with promise. Always thank God for your parents and no matter where you are, always check on them and pray for them, then it will be well with thee.

  • #And their father Israel said unto them if it must be so now, do this, take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man, a present, a little balm and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds: And take double money in your hand and the money that was brought again in the mouth of your sacks, carry it again in your hand; peradventure it was an oversight: Take also your brother and arise, go again to the man: And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your brother and Benjamin. If I am bereaved of my children, I am bereaved. Gen. 43:11-14

Israel gives them good advice on what presents to bring to the man and this is how Joseph is a type of Jesus, as the Magi gave gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Joseph is in expectation to see his brothers, just as Jesus awaits the day when He will call the Church home and sing to His brethren in the great congregation in heaven. Israel is ready to accept the will of Yahweh if He will require his children, then he is ready to accept it. God the Father so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, so that if any would accept Him, they would not perish, but would have eternal life. John 3:16

  • #And Israel, said, wherefore dealt ye ill with me, as to tell the man whether ye had yet a brother? And they said, the man asked us straitly of our state and of our kindred, saying, is your father yet alive? have ye another brother? and we told him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down? And Judah said unto Israel his father, send the lad with me and we will arise and go; that we may live and not die, both we and our little ones. Gen.43:6-8

Judah intercedes to his father, Israel, and takes full responsibility for bringing Benjamin back. It is interesting that they did not wonder how the leader of Egypt could know so much about their family to ask all those questions. Judah is taking the role of Jesus Christ, as He interceded for us in the Garden of Gethsemani, for us by saying: not my will but thy will be done. Thank God for the faith of Judah, as Jesus is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, and He will take the title deed of this world from Satan, in the book of Revelation chapter 5, because He is the Lamb that was slain before the foundations of the world. Israel is comforted by the courage of Judah and is willing to be bereaved of his children if it is the will of Yahweh. That is what we must do in our individual lives as to accept responsibility that my life is not my own, I lay it down on the altar before God, who has the right to take it. As Job said: naked came I from my mother's womb and naked shall I return, for the Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord. Job. 1:21

  • #But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified and ye shall not die, And they did so. And they said one to another, we are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul when he besought us and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us. And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, do not sin against the child and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required. And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for him spake unto them by an interpreter. And he turned himself about them and wept and returned to them again and communed with them and took from Simeon and bound him before their eyes, Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn and to restore every man's money into his sack and to give them provision for the way and thus he did for them. And they laded their asses with the corn and departed thence. Gen.42:20-26

Joseph is moved to tears as he wept at his brethren when he heard how sorrowful they were for their sins. As the scripture teaches godly sorrow leads to repentance, and these boys are now truly repentant for their sins against Joseph. So Joseph restores every man his sack and money and does not let them know he understood them since he used an interpreter. This story of Joseph is a great testimony of family reconciliation and why Joseph is a type of Jesus, for Jesus came into the world not to condemn the world, but the world could be set free from sin. Jesus gives us the ultimate reconciliation at the cross,

  • #And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants come. We are all one man's sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies. And he said unto them, nay but to see the nakedness of the land ye are come. And they said, thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan and behold, the youngest is this day with our father and one is not. And Joseph said unto them, that is it that I spake unto you saying ye are spies. Hereby ye shall be proved by the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither. Gen. 42:10-15

Joseph is having fun with the boys to keep them afraid, so they will confess to the sins they have committed. Yet the boys stood firm before Joseph and it was hard for Joseph to see them without Benjamin being present with them. So he tells them they have to bring Benjamin to him. Jacob is old and cannot bear the loss of another son and the boys are afraid of what to do. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. It is clear these boys are out of the will of God and that is why they are consumed with fear. If we do what is right before the Lord, then there is no one or nothing to fear. Many are afraid of the new administration in America, but we can be thankful for good years we have had under Obama and now the Trump administration is here to do a job by the grace of God. We must pray for all those in authority, so that we may live a peaceful life in Christ Jesus. Joseph is teaching his brothers how to trust God, just as he learned through all of the trials that he went through in Egypt.

  • #Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another? And he said, behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt; get you down thither and buy for us from thence, that we may live and not die. And Joseph's ten brothers went down to buy corn in Egypt. But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren, for he said, lest peradventure mischief befall him. And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan. And Joseph was the governor over the land and he it was that sold to all the people of the land and Joseph's brothers came and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth. Gen. 42:1-6

Joseph has now seen the fulfillment of his dream that the eleven stars made obeisance to me and he is wondering why Benjamin was not with them. So Joseph does not want to reveal his identity to his brethren, so he test their honesty by asking questions to see if they were spies come to see the nakedness of the land of Egypt. Then he places them in prison for three days and sent back one to get Benjamin. Israel is old and cannot bear to lose another beloved son to the boys, that is why he did not want Benjamin to go with them. Jacob has some reaping to do, as he has sown deception by the way he treated his brother Esau. As the saying goes the chickens will come home to roost. God is good how he builds the drama between Joseph and his brothers, for Joseph is in a position of power and now he can abuse his brethren if he wants to. This is why Joseph is like Jesus, for he did not take revenge when he could have. Just as Jesus said on the cross, no man takes my life, but I lay it down willingly. What a beautiful story this is how Joseph will finally reveal himself to his brethren.

  • #And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn, because that the famine was so sore in all lands. Gen. 41:57

Joseph is Governor of the land of Egypt and has told the king how to save Egypt, and not only Egypt but the entire world in a time of great famine. Immigration is of utmost importance in these days that we are living in. What if Egypt did not allow other countries to come to them for food? Joseph's family would have perished in the great famine. We must not build walls to divide people, but bridges to unite people as Joseph did. Joseph built a bridge of support, for not only Egypt but for his family. We never know who God is going to bless us to support in times of affliction. So thank God if you have plenty now, for affliction comes at a moments notice and we never know when it will come to us. So in prosperity thank God, and in affliction: praise God for His goodness, as well as provisions in your affliction.

  • #And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by the handfuls. And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt and laid up the food in the cities; the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up until the same. And unto Joseph was born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him. And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, he said, hath made me forget all my toil and all my father's house. And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction. Gen. 41:47,48,49,50,52

Jehovah has blessed Joseph with wisdom beyond measure, as the scripture said if any man lacks wisdom, let him ask of God. Joseph did not have to ask because his life was a drink offering on the storehouse of affliction in the land of Egypt. Very fitting that God would cause him to have two sons, which the name of the firstborn Manasseh; meant God caused him to forget all of his toil in Egypt as well as the affliction from his brothers. The name of the second Ephraim: for God caused him to be fruitful in the land of his affliction. What a great God we serve who can cause us to forget what we need to forget and to be fruitful when we need to be fruitful. There is no God like Jehovah, will you praise Him today and give Him all the glory that He alone deserves.

  • #And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, forasmuch as God hath showed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Thou shalt be over my house and according to thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand and put it upon Joseph's hand and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck, And he made him ride in the second chariot which he had and they cried before him, Bow the knee and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On.  And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt. And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh and went throughout all the land of Egypt. Gen. 41:39-46

Joseph is rewarded for his faith in God and his service to the king. Promotion comes neither from the west or the south, north or east, promotion comes from the Lord. Joseph begins his reign at the same age as Jesus was presented to Israel. The meaning of Joseph's new name from the Coptic as meaning the preserver of age. God has preserved Joseph in all of his suffering for his wife. Interesting that he would be given the daughter of Potipherah to wife. We wonder what happens to Mrs. Potiphar? The scripture does not tell us, but Joseph has been made to forget all of his suffering in Egypt and is rejoicing as the Prime Minister of Egypt. The main point we get from the life of Joseph is that good thing comes to those who wait on the Lord and keep His commandments.
