Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #And Peter answered Him and said, Lord, if it is thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And He said Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me, And immediately Jesus stretched forth His hand and caught him and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt. And when they came into the ship, the wind ceased. Matt. 14:28-32

Peter was the only disciple who had enough courage to ask Jesus to walk on the water. So Jesus said Come and Peter walked on the water until he became afraid of the wind being boisterous and began to sink. Peter cries out Lord save me, then immediately Jesus reaches out His hand to catch Peter. Then Jesus said: O ye of little faith, why did you doubt? We should never doubt as long as we keep our eyes on Jesus. Then the disciples said surely Jesus is the Son of God. A way to stay above the water in our lives is to always believe that Jesus will save us when we walk by faith. No matter if we are on a ship or water, Jesus is just a prayer away. So all the disciples worshiped God. Praise God He is the Lion and the Lamb that was slain and is most worthy of all our praise. Never let doubt have a stronghold in your life. We walk by faith and not sight. So no matter what circumstances you find yourself in, walk by faith.

  • #But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying it is a spirit and they cried out of fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. Matt 14:24-27

Jesus after spending time with the Father in prayer could see in the fourth watch of the night that the disciples were in trouble with the waves tossing them in the ship and so He walks on water. What a Savior who knows our every condition and meets us at the point of our need. Never be ashamed to pray to God for He knows every storm we will go through even before it comes. As Jesus calms the disciples who thought they had seen a ghost by saying Be of good cheer; it is I; Be not afraid. We have nothing to fear for God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. II Tim 1:7

  • #And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up into a mountain apart to pray and when the evening came, He was there alone. Matt. 14:22,23

Jesus wants to spend time with the Father alone on the mountain to pray, so He sends the multitudes away, and tells the disciples to get into a ship and go before Him. This tells us how important it is for us to get alone with Jesus to pray in our closet alone, so the Heavenly Father who sees us in secret will reward us openly.

  • #But Jesus said unto them, they need not depart; give them to eat. And they say unto Him, we have here but five loaves and two fishes. He said, Bring them hither to me. Matt. 14:16-18

Five loaves and two fish, was enough to feed five thousand men, not counting women and children. As a tax consultant, I try to help people get their greatest tax refund. It takes faith in what you have and using it to the maximum of your ability. Jesus told the disciples to use what they had, and He blessed it to the maximum. Little is much when you put it in the Master's Hand. Never doubt what God can do with the little talent that He has given us. We are blessed to be a blessing to others.

  • #When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart and when the people had heard thereof, they followed Him on foot out of the cities. And Jesus went forth and saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion toward them and He healed their sick. Matt. 14:13,14

The death of John the Baptist was a testing event, for would Jesus take revenge for John's death, instead he boards a ship into the desert place apart, seeking to be alone. Yet the people find Him, and Jesus has compassion in His heart toward them and heals the sick among them. Jesus knows that shortly, He too will go by way of Golgotha on His passion week. Now is the time to be about the Father's business, to seek and to save the lost. We are inspired to follow in the footprints of the Savior, for He knew what was in the heart of man, and we will know when we get to heaven how John the Baptist will be rewarded for being the forerunner of the Savior of our souls.

  • #For Herod had laid hold on John and bound him and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife, For John said unto him, it is not lawful for thee to have her. And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. Matt. 14:3-5

King Herod has committed a multitude of sins, in taking his brother's wife and having John the Baptist placed in prison. He fears the people cause they counted John to be a true prophet. So Philip's wife comes up with a plan to have her daughter to dance for Herod. Then once she does that she will ask for the head of John on a charger. What a sad way to put a great man of God to death, but Jesus has already said the Kingdom of God suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. John will receive the crown of life for being faithful until death. Jesus has warned not to fear those who destroy the body, for it is God to fear, who will destroy the body and soul in the Lake of fire. Judgment Day is coming and all those who have lived unlawfully will account for their sins. Whosoever's name was not found in the book of life will be cast into the Lake of fire. This is what we are to fear. To God be the glory for redeeming the life of His servants, as Jesus hears about the death of John he goes away into the desert to pray.

  • #For John came neither eating nor drinking and they say he hath a devil. Matt 11:18

Jesus gave many compliments for John and how that he neither came eating or drinking and the Jews said he had a devil. This shows us how far the apostasy has gone and why John is in prison for preaching the truth. The fact that John the Baptist was known by many to be a true prophet, is seen in that the way he lived condemned all those who were living a lie, thus they wanted to shut him up in prison. We are facing similar times today, when you speak the truth, others who are living a lie will want to dismiss you as lunatic. John will be rewarded for his faith and that he refused to back down from speaking the truth. Jesus said ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free. The only way to true freedom is to accept the truth of the word of God.

  • #Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, and he said unto Him, art thou He that should come or do we look for another? Matt. 11:2,3

John the Baptist is in prison a bit discouraged after being the forerunner of the Christ that was to come and sends his disciples on a mission to find Jesus. Then Jesus answered unto them, go and shew John those things which you do hear and see. The blind receive their sight and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached unto them. And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? But what went ye out to see? a man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings houses. But what went ye out to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you and more than a prophet. For this is he of whom it is written, Behold I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. Verily I say unto you, among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least  in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven  suffereth violence and the violent take it by force. John had to be encouraged as he heard the report of the Lord Jesus Christ. Violence is allowed by God until the Kingdom of heaven comes down to earth. John the Baptist is a victim of this violence, but he is the ultimate victor when Jesus will be seated on the throne in Jerusalem as the King of Kings and Lord of lords.

  • #And many things in his exhortation preached he unto the people. Luke 3:18

How easy it is to offend people when you preach the truth. Some people will not like you and will have you thrown in prison, as was John. Yet for all these things John fulfilled his ministry as he baptized the Messiah and the Spirit descended like a dove upon Him, with the voice from heaven saying: This is my Beloved Son, hear Him. Jesus would later comfort John in prison by telling him of men born of women there is not a greater than John the Baptist.

  • #And as the people were in expectation and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not; John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose; he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. Luke 3:15,16

John said I must decrease and He must increase. John knew that his role was that of the forerunner of Christ, yet others were trying to call him the Christ. John quickly dismisses that by telling them that he baptizes with water, but one among you whose latchet of shoes I am not worthy to unloose, being Jesus, who will baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire. This is the baptism that saves us, as we are true disciples when we have experienced this baptism of Christ. I pray that of all the things that we learn about John, that we remember that he never tried to usurp his role on earth to the Messiah, as he continued to be the forerunner of Christ until his death and he will receive the crown of life for doing so.
