Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but a handful of meal in a barrel and a little oil in a cruse and behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it and die. And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said, but make me thereof a little cake first and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and thy son. I Kings 17:12,13

Elijah is teaching the widow the important lesson of trusting God that He has provided just enough for her and her son. Yet she hast to make a little cake for him first, then there will be enough in the cruise for thee and thy son. We must always put the Lord first in all that we do.For we walk by faith and not by sight. God will always test our faith to make sure that we are trusting in Him alone and nothing else. We have to commit what we have into the hand of Jehovah God and know that He will bless it to be enough. It is appointed unto man once to die and God alone knows when our appointment day will come. Therefore, we are not to assume when it will come because it will stop us from doing the will of God in our lives. Putting God first means we take care of the needs of others before ourselves. We must have faith in God and not fear of failure. For I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

  • #And as she was going to fetch it, he called her and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand. I Kings 17:11

The widow woman is faithful to do what the Lord has commanded her, and while she is going, Elijah the man of God asks her for a morsel of bread. This is symbolic of Jesus being the Bread of life, and if we have Him, then we have all that we need. Jesus came down from heaven not to do His own will, but the will of Him that sent Him. So it is this, the widow is acting like Jesus to Elijah by giving him a morsel of bread. If you are hungry today, then seek Jesus who is the bread of life, and He will fill you completely. This world leaves us hungry, for it can never satisfy the basic needs of our soul. Cry out to God to save me from this world and all of its lust: the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. For only Jesus can save us from this world. For friendship with this world is enmity with God. Therefore, seek Jesus and the love of the Father. Just as the Father provided the bread for Elijah, He will provide the Bread of life for you. Call upon Him in the time of trouble and He will save you. Just Exalt Him today in your life, and give Him the glory that He alone deserves.

  • #So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering sticks and he called her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. I Kings 17:10

Elijah is obeying the voice of the Lord, going to Zarephath, and lo there is the widow that Jehovah God had promised to take care of him. She was gathering sticks, which was symbolic of her faithfulness to the will of God in her life. So the man of God asks her to Fetch him a little water in a vessel. Which was symbolic of little is much when placed in the Master's hand. Elijah is a broken vessel poured out on the sanctuary of the grace of God. We have to take little steps in obedience to do the will of God in our lives. Never look down on the little things that God will ask of us along the way, for it all has a purpose in the master's hand. Jesus is the water of life, and when we have Him, we have all that we need. Just cry out to Jesus now, and say fill my cup with your water of life dear Lord. How wonderful it is when we are filled with His water to do His will in our lives. So drink today from the hand of Jesus and despise not the day of little things.

  • #And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. I Kings 17:8,9

Jehovah answers Elijah and provides a place for him to go to escape the drought and look to a widow woman who is to sustain him. Elijah has learned the important principle of waiting on the Lord for direction, and not to get ahead of God, or blame Him for his trouble. How we need to learn this principle, for this is where we live our day to day lives trusting in Jehovah to sustain us. Trust in the Lord and do good and verily thou shalt be fed. David said I have been young and old, not once have I seen the righteous forsaken or his seed begging bread. Just pray for the Lord to show you His glory and He will. Elijah is a man just like us. Thank God for this example in scripture He has given us to look to in our day to day lives. Have faith in God. For without faith, it is impossible to please Him.

  • #And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land. I Kings 17:7

Where do we go when the brook drys up? Elijah is obeying the Lord God and the Ravens have been bringing him food, and the brook provided water. But now the brook has dried up and the Ravens have finished their duty. This is a perplexing question that we have to answer in life, for things can be going well when you obey the voice of the Lord, and then trouble gets in the way. We serve an on time God, who can use the miraculous to provide for his people. Elijah commanded that it not rain, because of the sin in the land, and even though he has not sinned, he too is perplexed by what God is doing. The answer to this question is always the same, and that is to wait on the Lord for the next direction. Those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up up with wings as an eagle, they will run and not faint, they shall walk and not grow weary. So if you find yourself in a similar situation as Elijah is, then wait I say upon the Lord. Our God is never late, and never early, He is an on time God. Just whisper a prayer in the morning, Whisper a prayer at noon, whisper a prayer in the evening, for Jesus is on the main line, tell him what you want. Our God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly more than we can ask or think. Just trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding, but in all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct thine pathway. Elijah is not afraid, because he knows the same God who sent the Ravens to feed him and the brook to give him drink, will provide when they are gone. Our God can do anything but fail, so trust in Him. The key is to fear not, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and a sound mind. Wait I say upon the Lord and He shall sustain you, for He will not suffer the righteous to be moved. It may be you are in a bad marriage, and your mate has left you. Wait I say upon the Lord, for He has promised never to leave you or to forsake you. Wait I say upon the Lord and be of good courage.

  • #And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom, I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, Get thee hence and turn thee eastward and hide thyself by the brook Cherith that is before Jordan. And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. I Kings 7:1-4

The word of Jehovah came upon Elijah, to tell Ahab, that it will not be dew or rain for these years until I say. So Jehovah commanded Elijah to go to the brook Cherith, where He would command the ravens to feed him. What a mighty God we serve, that even the Ravens obey His every command. So Ahab is afraid of Elijah, but Elijah trusts in Jehovah for his daily bread from the Ravens.

  • #And in the thirty and eighth year of Asa king of Judah began Ahab the son of Omri to reign over Israel and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty and two years. And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD above all that were before him. And it came to pass as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of an Ethbaal king of the Zidonians and went and served Baal and worshiped him. I Kings 16:29-31

Ahab is the most wicked king that Israel had, and Jezebel became the most wicked queen that Israel had. They served Baal with their 450 prophets and caused Israel to sin, such that the prophet Elijah had to challenge the people whether they would serve Jehovah or Baal. No one names their daughter Jezebel, because of the wicked reputation this name has. Yet Ahab was a puppet on the strings of his wicked wife. She used him to cause Israel to sin a great sin against Jehovah God, such the prophet Elijah had to shut up the heavens for three and one-half years from the rain. This is a great lesson to fathers how important it is to raise your daughters up in the fear of the Lord so that they will not become a Jezebel. The Church at Thyatira learned about the spirit of Jezebel, and the damage that it can do to the leaders of the Church. Keep thy heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life.

  • #Now the rest of the acts of Zimri and his treason that he wrought, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? Then were the people of Israel divided into two parts: half of the people followed Tibni the son of Ginath, to make him king and half followed Omri. I Kings 16:20,21

Israel was divided over who should be king so Omri prevailed against the people that followed Tibni so Tibni died and Omri reigned. But Omri wrought evil in the eyes of the LORD and did worse that all that were before him. So Omri slept with his fathers and was buried in Samaria and Ahab his son reigned in his stead. This apostasy that Israel is under will get worse under Ahab, such that Elijah will have to come on the seen to provoke the people to return to the living God Jehovah.

  • #For all the sins of Baasha and the sins of Elah his son, by which they sinned and by which he made Israel sin, in provoking the LORD God of Israel to anger with their vanities. Now the rest of the acts of Elah, and all that he did are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? I Kings 16:13,14

The household of Baasha has caused Israel to sin, in provoking Jehovah God to anger with their vanities. So the people are about to reap what they sowed and get a more wicked king in Ahab. All we like sheep have gone astray and the Lord laid on Him, Jesus the iniquity of us all. That is why we call Him Jesus, for He came to save His people from their sins. Sow to the spirit and you will reap life eternal in Jesus Christ.

  • #In the twenty and sixth year of Asa king of Judah began Elah the son of Baasha to reign over Israel in Tirzah, two years. And his servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him, as he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza steward of his house in Tirzah. I Kings 16:8,9

Wine is a mocker and strong drink deceiving, whoever drinks is not wise. Elah is about to become a casualty of the sin of alcoholism. So many have been slain by this sin and it is the most accepted in society. And Zimri went in and smote him, and killed him, in the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his stead. Thus did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, according to the word of the LORD, which He spake against Baasha by Jehu the prophet. We see one bad king after another comes to power and does worst than the other. The sins of the fathers are passed to the children to the third generation. Only through obedience can these generational curses be broken. Pray for your family to walk in the ways of Jehovah and to keep His commandments. Then the Lord will be merciful to your seed.
