Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #Let them give us two bullocks and let them choose one bullock for themselves and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood and put no fire under and I will dress the other bullock and lay it on wood, and put no fire under. And call ye on the name of your gods and I will call on the name of the LORD and the God that answereth by fire, let Him be God. And all the people said it is well spoken. I Kings 18:23,24

Elijah is giving the pattern for the true and the living God to answer by fire. For our, God is a consuming fire. What a day that must have been, to see how those prophets of Baal were crying all day for Baal to answer. Elijah played with them and said peradventure he is sleeping, cry a little louder! This is not the way the true, and the living God answers. For we only need to whisper a prayer to Him to be heard. This is a lesson to us that if we find ourselves in a situation where we are yelling for God, we need to step back and listen to that still quiet voice of the Holy Spirit. Elijah is going to prove to all the people who the true and living God is so that the people will choose who to follow. The prophets of Baal cried aloud and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them. What a display of futility by the prophets of Baal. That just shows what futility life is when you forsake the true and the living God, for Baalim who is no god. So I pray that you will stop today and ask yourself, how long will I run from God? Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked man forsake his ways and the unrighteous man his thoughts. Then return to the Lord your God who is ever merciful.

  • #So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel and gathered the prophets together unto Mount Carmel. And Elijah came unto all the people and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? If the LORD be God,  follow Him, but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. Then Elijah said unto the people, I even I, only remain a prophet of the LORD, but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men. I Kings 18:20-22

The Elijah complex is birthed in this passage, as he believes that he is the only prophet left that is not following Baal. So Elijah challenges the people with this great question: How long halt ye between two opinions? People will often try to straddle the fence when it comes to deciding who to follow. No one can have two masters. Either he will love the one while hating the other. God is a jealous God and requires our total allegiance. So make your decision sure today by forsaking Baal, and following the Lord Jesus Christ. For broad is the road that leads to destruction and many are there on that path. Yet narrow is the road that leads to life and few be there on that road. Do not say everybody is doing it, so it must be ok. Elijah has to have a decision so that he can send rain upon the land. God has to have your decision so that He can save your soul. What shall a man profit, if he gains the whole world, but loses his soul? There is nothing in this world that you can exchange for your soul. No amount of money will pay for your soul. Take heed to the words of the true prophet of God, and stop halting between two opinions. It is my prayer that you will turn from your sins to the living God and a time of refreshing will come over you.

  • #And it came to pass when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel? I Kings 18:17

King Ahab is mistaken when he asks Elijah art thou he that troubleth Israel when Elijah responds I have not troubled Israel, but thou and thy father's house in that ye have forsaken the commandments of Jehovah and hast followed Baalim. Elijah had to hold back the heavens from rain as an act of judgment from Jehovah God. So Elijah tells Ahab to send and gather the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table. There Elijah is going to prove who the real God in Israel is to worship. For Ahab has been breaking the first commandment: Thou shalt have no other god before Jehovah. For Jehovah God is a jealous God. Jealousy is His name. Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, mind, soul, and strength. This is the first and great commandment. Yet the second is like unto it: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

  • #And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all the fountains of water and unto all brooks: peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts. I Kings 18:5

Ahab is wicked and only thinks about the beasts to save and not the souls of men and women that he has corrupted? What a tragedy as Obadiah is hiding his prophets in the cave by fifty from Jezebel and fed them with bread and water. Being politically correct is not what counts, but rather being Biblically correct is what will save souls. Elijah is about to call out to Jehovah God to do the greatest miracle yet.

  • #And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying Go shew thyself unto Ahab and I will send rain upon the earth. I Kings 18:1

Elijah has been doing the will of God these past three years, now it is time to visit Ahab so that God can send rain upon the earth. Elijah had been hiding, but now God wants to show His mercy and grace in the land of the living. Whatever you are going through, trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. That is how Jehovah God has been taking care of Elijah and He will do the same for you. Just call on Him today, Lord I need you in my life. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I will walk with Him through the valley and shadow of death, for thou art with me, thy rod and staff comforts me. Praise God I am free!

  • #And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him. And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom and carried him up into a loft, where he abode and laid him upon his own bed. And he stretched himself upon the child three times and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again. And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived. I Kings 17:17,20,21,22

Elijah is used by Jehovah God to bring life back to the child of the widow. After the widow had cried out to Elijah about God remembering her sins and to slay her son. God is merciful and hears the prayer of Elijah, and this is the only time in the Old Testament, that Jehovah raises someone from the dead. Then the woman said to Elijah, Now by this, I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is the truth.

  • #For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth. And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah and she and he and her house did eat many days. I Kings 17:14,15

Jehovah God blessed the household of the widow for obeying the voice of Elijah and they did eat many days. Nothing is impossible when you put your trust in God. The widow woman is encouraged to serve Elijah and her house is blessed because of it. How many of us would be blessed if we too would move by faith, in serving Jehovah God? Job said I did esteem the words of His mouth more necessary than my daily food. Jesus said man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word from the mouth of God. Just taste and see that the Lord He is good and His mercy endures forever.

  • #And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but a handful of meal in a barrel and a little oil in a cruse and behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it and die. And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said, but make me thereof a little cake first and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and thy son. I Kings 17:12,13

Elijah is teaching the widow the important lesson of trusting God that He has provided just enough for her and her son. Yet she hast to make a little cake for him first, then there will be enough in the cruise for thee and thy son. We must always put the Lord first in all that we do.For we walk by faith and not by sight. God will always test our faith to make sure that we are trusting in Him alone and nothing else. We have to commit what we have into the hand of Jehovah God and know that He will bless it to be enough. It is appointed unto man once to die and God alone knows when our appointment day will come. Therefore, we are not to assume when it will come because it will stop us from doing the will of God in our lives. Putting God first means we take care of the needs of others before ourselves. We must have faith in God and not fear of failure. For I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

  • #And as she was going to fetch it, he called her and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand. I Kings 17:11

The widow woman is faithful to do what the Lord has commanded her, and while she is going, Elijah the man of God asks her for a morsel of bread. This is symbolic of Jesus being the Bread of life, and if we have Him, then we have all that we need. Jesus came down from heaven not to do His own will, but the will of Him that sent Him. So it is this, the widow is acting like Jesus to Elijah by giving him a morsel of bread. If you are hungry today, then seek Jesus who is the bread of life, and He will fill you completely. This world leaves us hungry, for it can never satisfy the basic needs of our soul. Cry out to God to save me from this world and all of its lust: the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. For only Jesus can save us from this world. For friendship with this world is enmity with God. Therefore, seek Jesus and the love of the Father. Just as the Father provided the bread for Elijah, He will provide the Bread of life for you. Call upon Him in the time of trouble and He will save you. Just Exalt Him today in your life, and give Him the glory that He alone deserves.

  • #So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering sticks and he called her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. I Kings 17:10

Elijah is obeying the voice of the Lord, going to Zarephath, and lo there is the widow that Jehovah God had promised to take care of him. She was gathering sticks, which was symbolic of her faithfulness to the will of God in her life. So the man of God asks her to Fetch him a little water in a vessel. Which was symbolic of little is much when placed in the Master's hand. Elijah is a broken vessel poured out on the sanctuary of the grace of God. We have to take little steps in obedience to do the will of God in our lives. Never look down on the little things that God will ask of us along the way, for it all has a purpose in the master's hand. Jesus is the water of life, and when we have Him, we have all that we need. Just cry out to Jesus now, and say fill my cup with your water of life dear Lord. How wonderful it is when we are filled with His water to do His will in our lives. So drink today from the hand of Jesus and despise not the day of little things.
