A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left. II Kings 22:1,2

Jehovah God blessed Josiah because he kept the commandments of God as his father David did. He did not compromise or turn aside to the right hand or to the left. This was just the kind of leader that Jerusalem needed. He rebuilt the house of the LORD. The workers did not have to reckon for the money to buy all the supplies because they dealt faithfully. How we need leaders like that today. Go ye, enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah concerning this book that is found. For great is the wrath of the Lord kindled against us because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do all that which is written concerning us. Josiah brought reconciliation back to the people of God. Because thine heart was tender and thou humbled thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spake against this place and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse and hast rent thy clothes and wept before me, I also have heard thee said the LORD. Josiah interceded and wept for the people of God. This is what the priests were supposed to do, yet Josiah was blessed to go to the grave in peace because of this.

  • #And Manasseh slept with his fathers and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden Uzza and Amon his son reigned in his stead. Amon was twenty and two years old when he began to reign and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Meshullemeth, the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as Manasseh his father did. II Kings 21:18-20

Well, it has been said the apple does not fall far from the tree. Amon did evil in the sight of Jehovah, as Manasseh his father did. And he forsook the LORD God of his fathers and walked not in the way of the LORD. And the servants of Amon conspired against him and slew the king in his own house. Had he not forsaken the Lord God, he would have had protection, but because he forsook the Lord, then Jehovah forsook him. We are told in scripture to draw near unto the Lord and He will draw near to us.  And the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

  • #And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said in Jerusalem will I put my name. And he built altars for the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. And he made his son pass through the fire and observed times and used enchantments and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger.II Kings 21:4-6

Manasseh did more evil than any of fathers by provoking the Most Holy to anger with necromancy. He set a graven image of the grove that he made in the house, of which the LORD said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever. This was too much wickedness.  but they hearkened not and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than did the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel. Therefore, thus said the LORD God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle. Wow, this is such a judgment all because the people hearkened to Manasseh and not Jehovah God. My people go astray because of a forgetful heart. The Lord is a gracious God willing to forgive, if only you will turn in faith to the Lord Most High. If only they would do as Moses commanded them, and keep the law not being a forgetful hearer. Just cry out to the Lord save me from this wicked and adulterous generation. But the people failed to repent and Jehovah God forsook them, even the remnant of mine inheritance and delivered them into the hand of their enemies. they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies. All this evil that Manasseh did caused the wrath of Jehovah God to kindle upon his people. We pray that we can learn from these awful mistakes that the children of Israel did, by walking in obedience to the Lord. For these things were examples to us for our learning and not to presume upon the grace of God. Our God is a gracious God, but He will not at all acquit the wicked who fail to repent. Call upon the name of the Lord and thou shalt be saved.

  • #Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hephzibah. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, after the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel. For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed and he reared up altars for Baal and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel and worshipped all the host of heaven and served them. II Kings 21:1-3

Manasseh was twelve when he began to reign, and he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah God. He reigned fifty-five years, but he rebuilt the high places that Hezekiah his father had destroyed. He also built altars for Baal as Ahab did. Makes you wonder why Jehovah God was so patient with him to allow him to reign, but these were the seeds of destruction that would lead to the Babylonians taking the Israelites into captivity. Just because the father was good, does not mean the son will be good also. Hezekiah did not impress upon his son how much God hates idolatry. Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart. This is a verse that I have seen work time and again. Parents need to claim this verse when raising children. Never leave a child to his own devices, for he will bring the parents to shame. Just because you train up a child the right way, it does not mean they will not detour, but when they do the hook of the word of God will bring them back to the fold. The word of God does not return void, so it will accomplish all that God had intended for it. Perhaps when Hezekiah was showing all the temple treasures, he should have been training Manasseh instead. This turned out to be a major stumbling block for him. Always take time to train your children, for they are always watching and will quickly notice what we tell them. Job prayed for his children lest they had cursed God in their heart. This was a perfect example of how to be a godly parent raising children. The Bible has given us all the instructions that we need to raise godly children. Prayer is number one on the list, for it shows the children how much you love them. This is the best way for we must avoid provoking them to wrath. Raising children requires that you be consistent with each of them. They will always point out what you did differently raising the other child. Keep your love for your children the same and do not show favoritism. I hope that you can glean from this passage in II Kings 21 that parenting was lacking and that is why a king at the age of twelve was not ready to take the throne. It is so important for fathers to spend quality time with their son so as to instill family values in them. Mothers also play an important role in raising sons, as reading the scripture to them is a very important tool to not neglect. We can see this must have been lacking in Manasseh's life learning lessons. May God impress upon us how important it is to start early teaching the word of God to them so that they will not depart from it.

  • #And Hezekiah hearkened unto them and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, the gold and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not. Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah and said unto him. What said these men? And from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon. II Kings 20:13,14

Hezekiah has been healed by Jehovah God and his fame is all over the world. Men from Babylon came to see him. Rather than talk about the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living, he shows them all the treasures of his house. And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD. Behold, the days come that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left saith the LORD. And thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away, and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon. Hezekiah thought that was good, but Isaiah said it is not good if peace and truth be in my days? Thus it turned out that this was a defining moment of king Hezekiah's life. The Lord had added fifteen years to his life, but he did not live them out in wisdom.  We are like that when the Lord will bless us from a death sentence, instead of praising God all our days, we live a life of pleasure and abundance. Let us say as the Apostle Paul said: O that I could know him in the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering. That is what our testimony should be in all our days. So Hezekiah slept with his fathers and Manasseh his son reigned in his stead. It is appointed unto man once to die, then after that the judgment. We shall give an account of our lives before the Father in Heaven, so our prayer should be, help me to number my days, that I may live them out in wisdom.

  • #In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die and not live. Then he turned his face to the wall and prayed unto the LORD, saying, I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. II Kings 20:1-3

Hezekiah is sick unto death and is told to set his house in order to prepare to die and not live. So Hezekiah begs the Lord for mercy to remember how he walked before the Lord with a perfect heart, doing what is good in thy sight. This is a great prayer and Jehovah God takes note of it by saying turn again and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold I will heal thee: on the third day though shalt go up to the house of the LORD. And I will add unto thy days fifteen years and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake. Hezekiah wants to see a sign? And Isaiah said to take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered. What a glorious promise Jehovah God has given Hezekiah by telling him shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees? And Hezekiah said it is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees. Was this wrong for Hezekiah to seek a sign? No Jehovah was not angry, as this was a demonstration of his faith in God. And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD and He brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz. It was the faith of Hezekiah in Jehovah Rapha, that healed him and restored his life. How many of us will have that same child like faith in God to believe that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him? Only believe, all things are possible if you will only believe. Walk in faith and victory seeking to do the will of the Lord in your life. For our, God can do anything but fail Just say I will live and not die and declare the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

  • #Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah and took them. And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold. And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house. And Rabshakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria what confidence is this wherein thou trustest? But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem? II Kings 18:13,14,15,19,22

Rabshakeh is blaspheming Jehovah God by saying let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand. Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying the LORD will surely deliver us and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria? Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household and Shebna the scribe and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent and told him the words of Rabshakeh. And it came to pass when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes and covered himself with sackcloth and went to the house of the LORD. And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, this day is a day of trouble and rebuke and blasphemy: for the children are come to birth and there is not strength to bring forth. So the servants came to Isaiah, and Isaiah said unto them, thus shall ye say to your master, thus saith the LORD, be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me. Behold, I will send a blast upon him and he shall hear a rumour and shall return to his own land and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land. Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, that which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard. Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel. For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of host shall do this. Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city or shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield nor cast a bank against it. And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out and smote in the camp of the Assyrians 185000 and when they arose early in the morning, behold they were all dead corpses. So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and went and returned and dwelt at Nineveh. And it came to pass as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead. This deliverance was given just as the servant Isaiah had said.

  • #Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign. Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah. And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did. II Kings 18:1-3

Hezekiah was a righteous king, he removed the high places and brake the images and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it and called it Nehushtan. He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after he was none like him among the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him. Praise God for great leaders like Hezekiah, who did what was right in the sight of the Lord. O that America could have such a leader. When the righteous are in authority the people rejoice. Just as there was a lot of rejoicing under Hezekiah, because of his righteous leadership, we can have that here if we pray for it. The effectual and fervent prayers of a righteous man avail much. Cry out to God save the USA. If we do this I believe God will send godly leaders who will fear the Lord and do what is right in the sight of the Lord. God would have all men to come to the knowledge of the truth. Pray for your leaders so that you may be able to live a peaceful life in all righteousness. Our prayers for revival continue and that God will move in the lives of His people to live righteous lives.

  • #Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom He named Israel; With whom the LORD made a covenant and charged them saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them: But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear and Him shall ye worship and to Him shall ye do sacrifice. And the statutes and the ordinances and the law and commandment which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore and ye shall not fear other gods. And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods. II Kings 17:34-38

Jehovah God made clear to the children of Israel that ye shall fear the LORD your God ye shall fear and He shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies. Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner. So these nations feared the LORD and served their graven images, both their children and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day. If the people of God are going to have victory in their lives they must forsake all these other gods and serve Jehovah God only, for Him shall ye fear. I pray that ye will be challenged to return to the Lord your God, for He alone is worthy of all our praises. Then there will be peace in the land with your enemies. Jesus is the Messiah whom ye shall serve and call on His name forevermore. Thank God that He is mighty to save, He conquered the grave, He alone can redeem you from these curses. Sing to the Lord and let the whole world see that He alone is your Savior.

  • #Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel and removed them out of His sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only. Also, Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made. II Kings 17:18,19

Jehovah God was very angry and rejected the seed of Israel and afflicted them and delivered them into the hand of the spoilers until He had cast them out of His sight. For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them; Until the LORD removed Israel out of His sight, as He had said by all His servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day. Therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them. This is a sad commentary of what happens when the people of God do not keep His commandments. Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD. Thank God that He always has a remnant who will fear the Lord and keep His commandments. O that America would learn the lesson that it took Israel to learn from all of their rebelling, by returning to Jehovah God with a fearful heart. If we call upon the Lord, we and our families will be saved from all the apostasy around us. His grace is sufficient to see us through until Jesus Christ comes to take us home with Him. For we are here to tell the world about His grace, till the Lord takes us away. Do not be ashamed to be the remnant who remains faithful to the Lord most high.
