A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

#While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. 2 Peter 2:19
The Greek word for bondage is Douluo; meaning to enslave or bring under subjection. Acts 7:6 And God spake on this wise, That His seed should sojourn in a strange land and that they should bring them into bondage and entreat them evil four hundred years. Peter is comparing the bondage of the false teachers to the enslavement of the Israelites in Egypt for four hundred years. They promised liberty while they through the lusts of the flesh brought many into corruption. We must guard against this slavery to sin, for we have been baptised into the Lord Jesus Christ and died to that old sin nature. There is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, but have crucified the flesh with it's lusts. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed. If we continue in His commandments ye shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free. God used Moses to bring the children of Israel out of bondage and corruption. Today He is using the Holy Spirit to liberate us from the bondage of sin.
# For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. 2 Peter 2:18
The Greek word for wantonness is Aselgeia; meaning licentiuosness, From a compound of a ( as a negative particle) and a presumed seiges ( of uncertain derivation, but apparently meaning continent) vices. Mark 7:22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, and evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness; This is the manifestation of those who walk in the lusts of the flesh. Indecent bodily movements, unchaste handling of males and females etc. Among Greek writings used by Plato, Isocrates and the following, at length by Plutarch. We must walk in the Spirit so that we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Ephesians 4:19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. This is the error of those that were clean escaped from them that were once enlightened. But beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have showed toward His name, in that ye have ministered to the sains, and do minister. Hebrews. 6, 9,10
#These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved forever. 2 Peter 2:17
The Greek word for tempest is Lailaps; meaning a hurrican. Of uncercertain derivation; a whirlwind (squall) or storm. Luke 8:23 But as they sailed He fell asleep and there came down a storm of wind on the lake and they were filled with water and were in jeopardy. Thank the Lord Hurricane season ended in north America November 30. Jesus is sleeping and while He fell asleep a great storm or Lailap came upon the disciples and they were in jeopardy. And they came to Him and awoke Him saying Master, master, we perish. Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging water and they ceased and there was calm. That is what Jesus will do to the false prophets who are like clouds being carried with the Lailap. Let us give praise to God for saving us from the storms of life. Jesus asked the disciples were is their faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for He commandeth even the winds and water and they obey Him. I pray that your faith has increased, for faith is our victory in the storms of life. So if you have been deceived by the false prophets, then come out from among them, and receive ye the Lord Jesus Christ as you Personal Savior.
#But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet. 2 Peter 2:16
The Greek word for madness is Paraphronia; From Paraphroneo; meaning insanity, i.e. Foolhardiness. God used a dumb or mute donkey to rebuke the mentally ill prophet for his foolhardiness. This passage in the Bible is where the term dumb ass is used and has become a cliche for people that are mentally ill. It is time to stop using this nomenclature to describe the mentally ill to remove the stigma. Thank God that being mentally ill is not a sin, but a sickness and there must be parity with physical sickness and mental health. There is a hospital for the mentally ill to be treated for their illness and never be ashamed if you are sent there. Take your medications so that you can overcome the paranoia of hearing voices telling you to do ungodly things. When God the Holy Spirit speaks to us, it is with a still small voice that always tells us to do godly things.
#Which have forsaken the right way and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 2 Peter 2:15
Balaam is Hebrew for an unrighteous prophet. He was a Mesopotamian (symbolic of a false teacher) the Hebrew word is Bilam for a prophet, i.e. Foreigner; also a place in Palestine. He is the reason today why Palestineans are fighting the Jews for control of Jerusalem. He was the son of Bosor (i.e. Beor) a Moabite. Numbers 22:5 He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth and they abide over against me. Peter is using this analogy to show why the false teachers forsook the right way and have gone astray, loving the wages of unrighteousness. We are commanded in scripture to love not the world, nor the things in the world. For whosoever loves this world the love of the Father is not in them. The world and all of its lust will pass away, but whosoever does the will of God shall abide forever. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in our Lord Jesus Christ. I pray you will accept Him into your heart today.
#Having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin: beguiling unstable souls: a heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: 2 Peter 2:14
The Greek word for unstable is Asteriktos; meaning unsettled. From an (as a negative particle) and a presumed derivative of sterizo; unfixed; i.e. (figuratively) vacillating. Peter is telling it like it is. Many people suffer from mental illness causing them to hear voices to do things that they would not normally do. Thank God for the former First Lady Rosalynn Carter who was a champion of mental illness in the seventies and got the physical health parity bill passed in Georgia. This goes a long way in ending the stigma about seeking help for mental illness. Once people start getting the counseling they need to help them, they will stop committing adultery and being unstable souls who cannot cease to sin. It is my prayer that the church will start training its pastors on how to deal with mental illness. It has been in the closet and many pastors will not preach about this. It is not a sin to be mentally ill and therefore, preaching about this topic is much needed in the church today. God has told me to Blog about this so that people will talk about it more and get the help that they need.
#And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they count it a pleasure to riot in the daytime. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; 2 Peter 2:13
The Greek word for blemishes is Momos; meaning blame, or disgrace—perhaps from Memphomai; a flaw or blot, i.e. disgraceful person. Daniel 1:4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well-favored and skillful in all wisdom and cunning in knowledge and understanding science and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans. Peter does not pull any punches as he describes with perpetuity the faults of those false teachers. Unlike Daniel and the three Hebrew boys who had no blemishes but were skillful in all the learnings of the Chaldeans. We must guard our hearts for out of the heart comes all the issues of life. Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself with the king's wine or meat and gave himself totally to the Lord in devotion. This is the way the true servant of God must live.
#But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; 2 Peter 2:12
The Greek word for brute is Alogos; meaning without reason. From a (as a negative particle) and Logos; irrational or unreasonable. Jude 1:10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. Peter and Jude call them brute beasts or unreasonable for they corrupt themselves by speaking evil of those things which they know not. These are the apostates that the scripture tells of men walking in their lusts. Paul said they would have a form of godliness but would deny the power from such turn away.
#Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord. 2 Peter 2:11
The Greek word for railing is Blasphemos; meaning slanderous or evil speaking. From a derivative of Blapto and Pheme; scurrilous, i.e. Calumnious (against men), or impious (against God). 1 Timothy 1:13 Who was before a blasphemer and a persecutor, and injurious but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. Angels who are greater in power and might dare not bring any slanderous accusations against the Lord. Paul, when he was Saul did it ignorantly, in unbelief, but obtained mercy from God. Be careful never to slander your brothers and sisters in the Lord; if you do, you are slandering God almighty. Refuse to engage in gossip, but speak the truth in love. For we must all stand before the Bema or Judgment Seat of Christ and we will have to answer for the things done in the body, good or bad after our salvation. Angels will be cast in the Lake of Fire for they know their judgment is sure, and are awaiting their sentence. Therefore, knowing the terror of the Lord, we persuade all men everywhere to repent before Judgment. For unbelievers will all stand before the White Throne Judgment and anyone's name not found in the Lamb's book of life will be cast into the Lake of Fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.
#But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, self-willed, they not afraid to speak evil of dignities. 2 Peter 2:10
The Greek word for dignities is Doxa meaning opinion (always good in New Testament), praise, honor, and glory. Hebrews 3:3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who built the house hath more honor than the house. This dignity is Christ Jesus, who was faithful to him that appointed Him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. We therefore must give glory and all the praise to the Lord Jesus Christ for He is the chief cornerstone on which the house is built. So avoid them that walk after the flesh in lust of uncleanness, and despise government. God created government to protect us from evildoers and we look forward to the day when the Government will be upon his shoulders. But Christ as a Son over His house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
