Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. Art thou called being a servant? care not for it, but if thou mayest be free, use it rather. For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise, also he that is called, being free is Christ's servant. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. I Cor. 7:20-23

Jesus paid the ultimate price for us at the Cross and we are not to be servants of men. Let us be a bondman of the Lord Jesus Christ and not use our freedom as a cloak of malice. Put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provisions for the flesh to fulfill its lust.

  • #But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not and she is pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. And the woman which hath a husband that believeth not and if he is pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean, but now are they holy. But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God hath called us to peace. I Cor. 7:12-15

Paul is speaking by the wisdom given him through the Holy Spirit concerning divorce and how if the unbelieving spouse is pleased to stay, do not put them away, for he or she is sanctified by the believing spouse. But if they depart, then the believing spouse is not under bondage to the marriage, for God would have us to be in peace. I am separated from my wife and praying for the Lord to do a new work in our marriage. We are at peace and seeking the Lord's will in the marriage. So everyone must know how to possess their body in sanctification and honor by living a holy life.

  • #But I speak this by permission and not of commandment. For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner and another after that. I say for the unmarried and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. And to the unmarried I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband, but and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband and let not the husband put away his wife. I Cor. 7:6-11

Paul is speaking by the will of God to the unmarried, widows, and those separated from marriage. It is good to remain single if it is your gift. Celibacy is a gift, just as marriage is as well. Yet not everyone can remain single and it is better to marry than to burn in lust. To the widows, it is better to remain unmarried and seek the Lord. To those in difficult marriages, it is better for the wife not to leave her husband and the husband should not put away the wife for the children are sanctified in the marriage. Reconciliation is to be the goal if she departs and is not a believer she is sanctified by the believing husband. I can say as a separated husband from his wife, that prayer, and fasting is needed to remain in the state of separation. Marriage is a gift and Celibacy as well so one must pray to the Lord to sustain him or her in such a situation.

  • #Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due to benevolence and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not the power of her own body, but the husband and likewise also the husband hath not the power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one the other, except it, be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer and come together again, that Satan tempts you not for your incontinency. I Cor. 7:1-5

It is important that a man not touch a woman in a sexual way and to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, as well as every woman,  have her own husband. Now the husband must render sexual gratification to the wife and likewise the wife to the husband. Never defraud ye one another for the wife does not have power over her own body but the husband, and likewise the husband does not have power over his body but the wife. Only come apart when you both consent for a time of fasting and prayer to the Lord. Then come together after a season, so that the devil cannot tempt you. This is how we overcome the sexual immorality from coming into your marriage.

  • #Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body, but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which is God's. I Cor. 6:18-20

Fornication is sex before marriage and it is against your own body. Therefore flee this sin, for it will destroy you. Just like Joseph ran from Potiphar's wife for he said how can I commit this sin against God? Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which is God's. If you have sinned, we have an advocate who is Christ the Lord, who will cleanse us from all unrighteousness. So confess your sins one to another so that you may be healed.

  • #Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ and make them the members of a harlot? God forbid. What? know ye not that he which is joined to a harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. I Cor. 6:15-18

The body is the member of Christ and we are not to take the member of Christ and join it to a harlot. Flee fornication for no sin affects the body as this one does. We are joined to Christ and one spirit. Therefore glorify God in your body by living a holy life.

  • #All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. Meats for the belly and the belly for meats but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord and the Lord for the body.  And God hath both raised up the Lord and will also raise up us by his own power. I Cor. 6:12-14

God made the body for meats and the belly for meats. Yet God shall destroy them both. Now we must not commit fornication or sexual immorality, for the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and we must glorify God in our body. God will raise the body up at the last judgment and we will give an account for the things done in the body both good and bad. Therefore mortify your members on the earth so that we will receive a reward at the Bema Seat of Christ.

  • #Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you, but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. I Cor. 6:9-11

Paul gives the list of sins that will not allow you to inherit the kingdom of God and then he tells the Corinthians that such were some of you, but ye have been washed in the Blood of Jesus, but ye have been sanctified by the Holy Spirit of our God. What a blessing to be cleansed from your former sins and we must be careful to live a holy and sanctified life.

  • #If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? But brother goeth to law with brother and before the unbelievers. Now, therefore, there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? Nay, ye do wrong and defraud and that your brethren. I Cor.6:4-8

Paul is concerned that the Corinthian church set men who are least esteemed in the church to judge the matters pertaining to life. Instead, he speaks to your shame that ye could not find a wise man among them. Now, brother is going to law with brothers and that before the unbelievers. Ye should rather suffer to be defrauded. Arm yourselves as Christ Jesus, who was reviled and did not revile back. Nay, ye do wrong and defraud and that your brethren. May we learn from these mistakes that this Corinthian church made and not repeat them in our churches today. We need to have a good testimony to those who are without faith.

  • #Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? I Cor. 6:1-3

Paul is admonishing the Corinthian believers to not go to law before the unjust judges, knowing that we will judge the world on the last judgment. We should, therefore, be able to judge such small matters in the church. We shall also judge the fallen angels, so how much more we should be able to judge the things that pertain to this life.
