A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

I thank the Lord for allowing me to see my sixtieth Birthday today, and as Paul charged him that ploweth in hope should thresheth in hope as well as be a partaker of his hope. God is good and will reward us for our labor.
#Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord? If I am not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord. Mine answer to them that do examine me is this, Have we not power to eat and to drink? Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles and as the brethren of the Lord and Cephas? I Cor. 9:1-5
Paul is using tone to impress the Corinthians about his Damascus road experience when he saw Jesus Christ and there began his apostleship. Also, he won the Corinthians to Christ and thereby became their spiritual father. Yet there were those who would express questions about their freedom to eat and to drink. That power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles and as the brethren of the Lord and Peter. We have freedom in Christ and we must not use it to cause our brothers or sisters to stumble. Yes, we can eat and drink but we must not do so if it causes our brother or sister to stumble. Halloween is a holiday that many celebrate which honors devil worship and we must not cause weak believers to stumble by participating in the holiday. We are a holy nation, a royal priesthood and called out of darkness into his marvelous light.
#For if any man sees thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? But when ye sin so against the brethren and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. Wherefore, if meat makes my brother offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother offend. I Cor. 8:10-13
We as Christians have to be careful what liberty we use in front of our brothers and sisters lest we cause them to sin and perish for whom Christ died. Does this passage teach that your brother or sister can lose their salvation? I do not think so, but we can contribute to them losing their reward when we all stand before the Bema seat of Christ. For we will all stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ and answer for those things done in the body, both good and bad. Therefore if eating meat causes my brother or sister to sin, then I shall eat no meat. We are walking epistles read and known of all men, so we need to be careful of what we are writing. Does celebrating Halloween cause someone with the knowledge to sin? Then I will not celebrate Halloween, lest I cause someone to stumble in Christ.

But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours becomes a stumbling block to them that are weak. I Cor. 8:5-9

As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world and that there is none other God but one. I Cor. 8:1-4
Knowledge puffs up, while love builds up. We must love God with all our heart, mind, and soul. To love God is to be known of God. Idols are nothing, and as concerning, therefore, the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto is nothing. There is one God and we must never knowingly eat meats that are sacrificed to idols. For he that eats meats sacrificed to idols has a weakened conscience and is defiled. Also, do not get caught up in devil worship such as Holloween.
#So then he that giveth her in marriage does well, but he that gives her not in marriage does better. The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth, but if her husband is dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. But she is happier if she so abides, after my judgment and I think also that I have the Spirit of God. I Cor. 7:38-40
Paul gives his judgment on the matter of widows, that it is good for them to remain unmarried. Yet if they marry, let them marry a Christian so that they will not be unequally yoked. Some think that they can live together and be Christians, but we must avoid all appearance of evil. There is no temptation given unto man but that which is common to man and God is faithful that he will not tempt you more than you can bear, yet will with the temptation provide a way of escape. So live a holy life and glorify God in your bodies, and make no provisions for the flesh to fulfill the lust thereof.
#And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction. But if any man thinks that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she passes the flower of her age and needs so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not; let them marry. Nevertheless, he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well. I Cor. 7:35-38
Paul admonishes the Corinthians that if a man has power over his own heart to keep his virgin, then he does well. Nevertheless, let everyone attend upon the Lord without distraction. However, if he marries, then he hath not sinned but does well also. Once she passes the flower of her age let them marry and glorify God in body, as well as spirit.
#But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord. But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. There is a difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit, but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. I Cor. 7:32-34
There is a difference between the unmarried and the married. For the unmarried cares for how they may please the Lord. While the married cares how they may please their spouse. The Lord would have us to live a holy life in both body and spirit as well as how to please your spouse.
#But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned and if a virgin marry she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh, but I spare you. But this I say brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none, And they that weep, as though they wept not and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not and they that buy, as though they possessed not, And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away. I Cor. 7:28-31
Paul wants those that marry to know they have not sinned and if a virgin marries hath not sinned. Nevertheless such will have trouble in the flesh. Marriage is honorable in all and the bed not defiled. Yet fornicators and adulterers shall be judged. We must use this world and not abuse this world, for the fashion of this world will pass away. Marriage is difficult enough and lives on a budget that will take away a lot of stress out of life. Life is short and we don't know when the Lord will require our soul of us. So, that we will rejoice in the Lord and live a life of service esteeming the other greater than ourselves.
#Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God. Now concerning virgins, I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful. I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be. I Cor. 7:24-26
O that virgins would remain in the present state that God had called them, as Paul received no commandment from God about them. Yet it is better due to the stress of the present day that they remain virgins. Every man and woman has their gift from God thus it is better to serve the Lord unmarried. If you cannot abide in that state and burn with lust for your mate, then it is better to marry. Nevertheless, such shall have trouble in the flesh, for the married will try to please their spouse and their service to the Lord will be divided.
