Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. I Cor. 12:5-7

There are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. There are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. God gives the manifestation of the Spirit to every man to profit withal. He does not discriminate in the gifts of the Spirit so thank God for the measure given to you. We all profit from the measure of the Spirit given for the benefit of the body of Christ.

  • #Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto those dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed and no man can say that Jesus is Lord but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. I Cor. 12:1-4

Paul is speaking about the Holy Spirit and no man can call Jesus as Lord except by the Holy Spirit. There are gifts given by the Spirit and these are diversities of gifts. We are all baptized into Christ by the Spirit and he gives us the Spiritual gift that is appropriate for us.  So thank God for your spiritual gift that the Holy Spirit has given to you.

  • #For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus  the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, Take eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me, After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he comes. I Cor.11:23-26

Paul admonished the Corinthians that they should examine themselves before they take the Lord's Supper because there were divisions among them. The Lord on the night he was betrayed took the bread and when he had given thanks, he broke it saying this is my body, which is broken for you, this do in remembrance of me. In the same manner, also he took the cup when he had supped, saying this cup is the new testament in my blood: this does ye as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. We must examine ourselves by not being drunk or hungry when you take the Lord's Supper.

  • #Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman prays unto God uncovered? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that if a man has long hair it is a shame unto him? But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. I Cor. 11:13-15

Paul is contrasting the man and the woman. It is a shame for a woman to pray with a bald head, but for a man, it is the glory. If the man has long hair it is a shame, but if the woman has long hair it is a glory. We must pray to God fully covered and not be ashamed to come before his throne of grace. Let us come boldly before God, knowing that our High Priest Jesus, will hear us when we humble ourselves before him by being covered properly.

  • #Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man in the Lord. For as the woman is of the man, even so, is the man also by the woman, but all things of God. I Cor. 11:11,12

Even so, as the woman is of the man, neither is the man without the woman, for we are one in the Lord. As the woman gives birth to the man and God used the seed of the woman to crush the head of the serpent. What an honor this was for the woman to give birth to the Lord Jesus Christ, who ultimately crushed Satan's head on the Cross. So as husbands we must dwell with our wives as of the weaker vessels giving honor unto them. As we prepare to celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday, let us give thanks to God for our wives and give them the honor that they deserve. I pray for my wife to be strong in the Lord and the power of his might.

  • #For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman, but the woman for man. For this, cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. I Cor. 11:8-10

Paul is taking the Corinthians back to the book of Genesis, where God said it is not good for man to be alone. So God anesthetized man and took a rib from the man and formed him a woman. Adam said the bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh. Therefore, shall a man leave his father and mother and be cleaved to his wife. The woman should thus have power on her head because of the angels. The Hebrew word for woman Ishi should have power on her head because she was created from Ish or man. What a glorious truth this is and what an honor to be a woman that was created for Ish or man.

  • #Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ and the head of the woman is the man and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prohesying, having his head covered dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman is not covered, let her also be shorn, but if it is a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God, but the woman is the glory of the man. I Cor. 11:1-7

Paul is teaching the Corinthians about headship. The head of every man is Christ and the head of every woman is the man and the head of Christ is God. Yes, then he teaches on coverings: every man praying or preaching having his head covered dishonoureth his head. But for the woman that prays or preaches, with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for if the custom is for her not to be shaved, then she should be covered. Now a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God, but the woman is the glory of man. Today you rarely see a woman cover her head in the church, and this is a sign of lack of respect for her husband. We must honor the scripture and follow the teaching of the Word of God.

  • #Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. I Cor. 11:1

Paul is exhorting the Corinthians to be followers of me as I am also of Christ and this is a good example for us to follow today. There are many who want you to be followers of them, yet they are not followers of Christ. We must be very careful to only follow those who are followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. Being popular is fine, but being a follower of Christ will not always cause you to be popular. So be careful to be biblically correct rather than politically correct.

  • #Give none offense, neither to the Jews nor the Gentiles nor the church of God: Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many that they may be saved. I Cor. 10:32,33

Paul is teaching the Corinthians how to live as Christians in a pagan world and that requires that we give none offense to the Jews or the Gentiles or the church of God. This means that we must not use our liberty in Christ as a stumbling block to those within the faith, as well as having a good reputation for those outsides of the faith. Jews look for a sign and we must use the Word of God so that we can give a reason for the hope that is within us. The Greeks look for wisdom and all wisdom comes from God. So if any man lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives liberally to all men.

  • #For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. I Cor.10:30,31

We are criticized when we use our liberty in Christ to eat a meal that others might not eat. The goal is always to eat, drink and give thanksgiving to God for his glory in everything. Do not bewail others for using their grace not to eat, but seek to keep the unity of the faith in the bond of peace. May God bless all Veterans this day and we thank them for their service.
