Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receives he of thine hand? Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art and thy righteousness may profit the son of man. By reason of the multitude of oppressions, they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty. But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night; Who teacheth us more than the beast of the earth and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven? There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men. Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it. Job 35:7-13

Elihu continues his diatribe with Job by saying Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art and thy righteousness may profit the son of man. Then he questions where is God my maker, who gives songs in the night; Who teaches us more than the beast of the earth and makes us wiser than the fowls of heaven? God indeed does give us songs in the night and does make us wiser than the fowls of Heaven? But for him to accuse Job as he has done, is to show some self-righteousness. Job is indeed a righteous man and is not suffering because of his wickedness that he has committed. Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it. Thus God will require Job to intercede for his friends for all the false accusations that they have made against Job. We too must intercede for the families of the oppressed that God will grant them relief from the oppression of the wicked and pray for our leaders that they make the rule in righteousness. Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. May we be like Job and wait on God all the days of our appointed time for our change to come.

  • #That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more. Should it be according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest. Let men of understanding tell me and let a wise man hearken unto me. Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom. My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men. For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us and multiplieth his words against God. Job 34:32-37

Elihu has asked some great questions for Job and he said that which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more. This is most noble and it should have impressed Job for him to say that. Then he says let men of understanding tell me and let a wise man hearken unto me. Then he states Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom. This had to be hard for Job to listen to, but the Bible tells us if you rebuke a wise man, he will thank you. We know that Job is indeed a wise and righteous man and God will rebuke him at the proper time. So we can learn a lot from this diatribe with Job and to see that Job addeth rebellion unto his sin and claps his hands among us while his words were multiplied against God. This was a bold statement as God had said to Satan, that you movest me to strike Job without cause. We know that Job, is a righteous man, but he is not perfect. There is not a just man upon the earth that sinneth not and Job is an example of one. So our words must be few towards God, for He shall correct all of us at the appointed time. So as the psalmist said: help me to know my end, so that I may number my days in wisdom.

  • #He looketh upon men and if any say, I have sinned and perverted that which was right and it profited me not; He will deliver his soul from going to the pit and his life shall see the light. Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man, To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living. Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace and I will speak. If thou hast anything to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee. If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace and I shall teach thee wisdom. Job 33:27-33

Elihu is a good and honest man but he is wrong about Job. It is easy to judge another man if you have not walked in his shoes. Job does hold his peace and God will reward Job in the end when he prays an intercessory prayer for his friends. We are in the midst of this coronavirus pandemic and we too should be praying for our friends and neighbors that God will deliver them from this virus, for He is our Jehovah Rapha, our healer. Thank God for Elihu and forgive him for judging Job for some sin he thought was in his life. Job indeed will be healed of his boils and vindicated of all the evil that has come upon him.

  • #For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me. Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles. I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer. Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man. For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away. Job 32:18-22

Elihu shows wisdom toward Job by waiting to speak because Job was an old man and he did not want to give flattering titles by speaking too soon.  Elihu is ready to speak that he may be refreshed, so he opened his lips and answered, for he knew God would take him away by giving flattering titles. Jesus told us not to call any man father, but our Father in heaven. So the wisdom of Elihu is great and we can learn a lot from him by the way he answered Job. God is our Abba Father, which is Aramaic for Daddy which is a term of endearment that we can use as his children. It is my prayer that we would love the Lord our God with all our hearts, minds, and souls. This is the great commandment and the second is like unto it, that we should love our fellow man as ourselves. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

  • #So these three men ceased to answer Job because he was righteous in his own eyes. Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled because he justified himself rather than God. Also against the three friends his wrath kindled because they had found no answer and yet had condemned Job. Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken because they were elder than he. Job 32:1-4

Here we see the wrath of Elihu against Job because he had justified himself rather than God and Job has wrath against his three friends because they refused to answer Job. It was God indeed who had justified Job before Satan when he accused Job of serving God for the blessings. Job has a good reason to be angry, but Elihu does not, yet Job will, in the end, make intercession for his three friends before God. Then God will turn the situation of Job around for doing so. The one thing that Elihu does is waiting for Job because they were older than Job. How we would like to know the age of Job, but I thank God that he does not give us Job's age or the length of his trial. It is a blessing to know that Job will enjoy 140 years of living with his children and grandchildren after his trial is over. So we too have hope that this coronavirus pandemic that we are in the midst of will pass and God will make all things beautiful in his time.

  • #For destruction from God was a terror to me and by reason of his highness, I could not endure. If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence: If I rejoiced because my wealth was great and because my hand had gotten much; If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness; And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand: This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above. If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me or lifted up myself when evil found him: Job 31:23-29

Job is concerned about idolatry and he said if I have made gold my hope, or have said to fine gold, Thou art my confidence: If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness: This also was an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above. We see the integrity of Job and that he indeed loved the Lord his God with all his heart, mind, and soul. He also loved his neighbor as himself, on these two are the greatest of the commandments. We too must aspire to do that, even in the midst of this coronavirus pandemic, for God has appointed an end to all suffering and pray for our fellow man who may be suffering the loss of wealth, health, and lively hood in this crisis. God will turn our suffering around as Jesus suffered for us and has ceased to suffer and is at the right hand of the Father in glory interceding for us. Having food and clothing let us, therefore, be content.

  • #I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid? For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high? Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity? Doth not he sees my ways and counts all my steps? Job 31:1-4

l have loved reading the book of Job and this chapter is a profound chapter in the Bible for it tells a man how to please God by asking the question: I made a covenant with my eyes: why then should I think upon a maid? This tells us that God knows our hearts and our steps and we must be careful not to lust upon a woman. How David could have remembered this verse when he saw Bathsheba bathing upon her rooftop, he would not have lusted upon her and the ensuing sins of adultery and murder would not have followed. I have thought about this verse every time I see a beautiful woman and asked God to give me the strength to look away. Billy Grahm the famous evangelist said to look once is not a sin, but the second look that is. I agree with him on that and always seek not to make that second look. How many are in prison today because they took that second look and ending up committing the crime of rape. Find comfort in Psalm 119:59 I thought on my ways and turned my feet unto his commandments. When we think about the commandments of God then we will number our steps to keep the commandments.

  • #I cry unto thee and thou dost not hear me: I stand up and thou regardest me not. Thou art become cruel to me: with thy strong hand thou opposest thyself against me. Thou liftest me up to the wind; thou causest me to ride upon it and dissolvest my substance. For I know that thou wilt brings me to death and to the house appointed for all living. Howbeit he will not stretch out his hand to the grave, though they cry in his destruction. Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul grieved for the poor? When I looked for good, then evil came unto me and when I waited for light, there came darkness. Job 30:20-26

Job is in great agony, as death is near and he cries to God, while it appears he does not hear him. Then he states: for I know that thou wilt brings me to death and to the house appointed for all living. Death is appointed to mankind and we must put our house in order before we die. With the coronavirus pandemic, all of us should have wills in order so that our loved ones know what our wishes are for our affairs, preferable a living will so that if we are no longer able to be cognisant to make decisions on our own. God is not through with Job, even though he thinks he is about to die and he is going to live 140 years longer to see his children's children. Thank God that he is our Jehovah Rapha and can heal us from the point of death. Even as these boils were ravishing Job's body, God healed him and he can heal us so never give up. Pray for the poor as Job did and God will remember you in the day of affliction.

  • #Then I said, I shall die in my nest and I shall multiply my days as the sand, My root was spread out by the waters and the dew lay all night upon my branch. My glory was fresh in me and my bow was renewed in my hand. Unto me, men gave ear and waited and kept silence at my counsel. After my words, they spake not again and my speech dropped upon them. And they waited for me as for the rain and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain. If I laughed at them, they believed it not and the light of my countenance they cast not down. Job 29:18-24

Job, was a trusted counselor man waited and kept silent at his counsel. They waited for him as for the rain and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain. We too need to be men and women of integrity in this coronavirus pandemic as many are suffering from mental illness in this virus. With many who have lost jobs and fallen into a deep depression, they need to have hope for another day. I too have mental illness and I find Psalms as a comforting book of the Bible to go to for why art thou cast down Oh my soul, hope thou in God. Our faith will see us through many down days just as it did for Job. We must know that all of our appointed days to wait upon God, until our change comes.

  • #When the ear heard me, then it blessed me and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me; Because I delivered the poor that cried and the fatherless and him that had none to help him. The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy. I put on righteousness and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem. I was eyes to the blind and feet was I to the lame. I was father to the poor and the cause which I knew not I searched out. And I brake the jaws of the wicked and plucked the spoil out of his teeth. Job 29:11-17

Job then tells of the good deeds that he does for the poor, and the fatherless that had none to help him. He received the blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me and I was the cause of the widow's heart to sing. This tells us how righteous a man Job was and yet he was not immune to trouble. God causes the sun to shine on the righteous and the unrighteous; as well as the rain to fall on the just and the unjust. Job made a plan to put on righteousness and it clothed him. His judgment was as a robe and a diadem. Truly righteousness exalts a people, but sin takes them to judgment. We can learn a lot from Job and direct our steps in the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom. Pray for your neighbors who are besieged by this coronavirus pandemic and God will bless you for doing so.
