Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. Col. 4:6

We must allow the Holy Spirit to control our tongue so that we will know to use our speech with grace. Also seasoned with salt, since we are the salt of the world and salt is a preservative that keeps food from spoiling. Salt also adds flavor to food and that is how we are to answer every man with grace, and love in our hearts. I thank God for the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives that gives us temperance, self-control, and peace when we interact with our fellow man.  The world so desperately needs Christians to moderate all the confusion that is going on in society today. By the grace of God we will win more people to the Lord Jesus Christ by knowing how we are to speak to them with grace in our hearts, and salt in our lives. Salt can also be a metaphor, as Lot's wife turned into a pillar of salt because she looked back at Sodom when the angels warned them not to. Jesus commanded us in Luke 17:32 told us to remember Lot's wife. We must not grieve or quench the Holy Spirit by not allowing the Spirit to control us. It is the Holy Spirit that gives us the grace and wisdom of how we ought to answer every man.

  • #Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Col. 4:5

Paul is admonishing the Colossian believers to walk in wisdom toward those who believe not the gospel, by redeeming the time, for the days are evil. We too must watch how we walk, for we are living epistles read of all men. The Lord is coming back and we have to be sure there is oil in our lamps. The wise virgins made sure there was oil in their lamps by going to the merchants and when midnight has come, the Master of the house took them all in. Yet the foolish virgins said give us some of your oil, but the wise virgins said go buy yourselves some of the oil from the merchants, lest there be not enough for us. Then they were left out so shall it be when the Lord Jesus returns for the Church, the Bride of Christ when He returns. No man knows the day or the hour that the Lord will come, so be ye also ready, for you know not when the master of the house shall come. With all of the signs of climate change, Jesus is warning us that his return is near, even at the door.

  • #Continue in prayer and watch in the same with thanksgiving; Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. Col. 4:2-4

Prayer is the primary motivator for the Apostle Paul while he is in bonds and watching with the same in thanksgiving. Yet the most important thing was a door would be opened for us to preach the gospel and the mystery of Christ, which is Christ in us the hope for glory. We would wonder how Paul could preach the gospel while in bonds; well this prison epistle to the Colossians was a significant way for Paul to preach the gospel and he wrote four epistles while he was in bonds. So you can see how busy he was despite his being in chains. This is a great lesson for us in this coronavirus pandemic to continue to get the gospel out virtually to those who are not able to meet locally in the church building. Thank the Lord that I can use this Blog to preach the good news about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We must continue to watch in prayer that the Lord will open more doors for us that reach others with the saving grace of the Lord. Prayer keeps us steadfast in the Spirit and walking in love toward all the brethren. We will never know until we get to heaven how many people were able to be won to Christ by all our efforts and the answers to all the prayers by God. We pray for those on the gulf coast who are being affected by climate change as yet another tropical storm is in the Gulf of Mexico. Pray that God will put leaders in office that will make the changes in our environment to slow down the greenhouse gases that are causing this global warming and wildfires, as well as hurricanes.

  • #Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven. Col. 4:1

Jehovah God is our Master in heaven and he requires earthly masters or employers to pay their workers a fair wage. God hates unjust balances and people need a living wage. As bondservants of the Lord Jesus Christ, he sent his workers into the vineyard for a penny a day and the workers who came into the vineyard at the eleventh hour received the same wage as those who had worked from the first hour. So the workers thought it was not fair, but Jesus told them what I have paid you is just. God is just and rewards us for our faithfulness, no matter how long we have been in the vineyard; be it one hour, or twelve hours. So do not complain to your boss if you feel like you are not being paid a fair wage, instead thank God that you have a job in this coronavirus pandemic and know that God will reward you for your faithfulness. The promotion comes neither from the east or the west, but promotion comes from the Lord. Be the best servant that you can possibly be not looking for extra pay, but do your work unto the Lord. God will open doors for you because you endured the tasks that were given to you. When we get to heaven we will stand before our Master who will say unto us for our faithfulness: well done good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord. At the right hand of God, there is fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore. What a blessing we shall see when Jesus will welcome us into his Kingdom to enjoy the pleasures of the Lord and having a body like Jesus that will never be susceptible to illness or decease

  • #And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not unto men; Knowing that of Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that does wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done and there is no respect of persons. Col. 3:23-25

We as Christians must do our work unto the Lord Christ, for he shall reward us with the reward of the inheritance and it will not pass away. So when others see us they should know that we are the best servants and not just clock watchers. Since the coronavirus pandemic has turned the world upside down with lockdowns and work from home schemes. We must be more vigilant than ever before. Paul warns the Colossians that whoever does wrong shall receive for the wrong which he or she hath done and there is no respect of persons with God. Be not deceived for God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, so we must confess our sins before God, for he is faithful to forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9 This passage is about rebounding from error, since we all make mistakes and need to recover from the trials and errors of life. Jesus was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was laid upon him. So thank God that when we confess our sins, God restores us to fellowship in the body of Christ just as if we had never sinned. Restitution must be paid by those who may have stolen something. God is no respect of persons and as Jesus confronted Zacchaeus the tax collector, he said if I have defrauded any man I shall restore sevenfold. Jesus told him that salvation had entered his household. He that stole must steal no more but work with his hands so that he may give to those that have needs. By doing this, God is well pleased and you will receive the reward of the inheritance in heaven.

  • #Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh: not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing God: Col. 3:22

The Greek word for servants is doulou and it describes the slave who was taken by his master as a servant. It has the connotation of a bond-servant who serves for life and it is a picture of the Christian life we must please God in all things, not watching the clock as we work in the vineyard, but with singleness of heart fearing God. For we will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ to give an account for our lives before the Lord. We will receive a reward for our service so we must run not as one that beats the air but keeps his eyes on Jesus. Slavery was practiced in the Roman Government and Jews were aware of how they were to perform to please their masters. Slavery will be on the earth until Jesus returns to establish his Kingdom, so Paul told the slaves to see themselves as servants of God Elyon who rules in the affairs of men. Thank God that Slavery was abolished in America in 1865 by Abraham Lincoln in the Civil War. We still have the vestiges of the results of former slaves who have been liberated, but still suffer discrimination. We must serve as bond-servants of Christ knowing that we will receive the reward of the inheritance when we do our work as Christians. Thank God for great men like Martin Luther King who lead the freedom walks which gave us the 1964 Civil Rights Act. He gave his life as he was assassinated for doing so. We will find many in heaven who will receive the crown of life for their service as Jesus said if we die with him, we will reign with him.

  • #Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well-pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. Col. 3:20,21

Children are given the command to obey their parents in all things and Fathers are commanded not to provoke their children to anger lest they be discouraged. The key is fathers who are in the Lord knows how to discipline their children without discouraging them. The bible tells us that wrath is bound up in the heart of a child, and the rod of reproof gets it out of them. So always tell your children when you discipline them that you love them and this is for your good. The children will understand and respect you for this. Today with so many divided families with only one parent, this is a missing element in the family and because of It, children are disobedient to their parents. A house divided against itself shall not stand. Families need to be encouraged more now than ever before in this coronavirus pandemic and we do that by sharing bible verses one to another to lift our spirits in adversity. The scripture tells us that God makes all things beautiful in His time and this gives us hope in the midst of sorrow. My prayer is that wives will submit to their husbands and that husbands will love their wives, then the children will be obedient to their parents in the Lord. This is how to have a happy Christian home.

  • #Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and be not bitter against them. Col. 3:18,19

Paul now shifts to the Christian home and how important it is for wives to submit unto your own husbands, as is fit in the Lord. I worked as a vocational minister and Service Technician which allowed me to go in the homes and repair major appliances like washers, dryers, dishwashers, garbage deposers, and water heaters. I met a lot of wives who were angry at their husbands who were not handy enough to them. The command is to submit to your own husband, whether he is handy or not. I counseled some of them and told them to respect their husbands and thank God that he provided a wonderful home for them to live in. This is something that builds up husbands when they know that their wife respects them and husbands will, in turn, love their wives by not being bitter against them. Bitterness is a great detraction to love and it is so important that wives treat their husband with respect not complaining to other husbands about how bad your husband is about not doing housework, like washing dishes. Husbands need to support wives at home more knowing that they need help with the children and the housework. It is a blessing now that with the coronavirus pandemic, more husbands are at home working remotely and they are able to support the wife with the children more. God causes all things to work together for our good to those that love the Lord and are called according to his purposes.

  • #Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Col. 3:16,17

In order to thrive in the Christian life, let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. This is how we overcome the coronavirus pandemic and not fall into a state of depression. With many churches now starting to assemble together, it is important that we continue to pray for one another and encourage one another with the word of God. Then whatever we do in word or deed, we must do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Every day is a day of thanksgiving and we must give thanks to God in all things for this is the will of God for us in Christ Jesus. So call someone and speak words of wisdom using scripture to teach and admonish one another. Read a psalm and sing hymns to the Lord for encouragement.

  • #And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body and be ye thankful. Col. 3:14,15

Charity is above all the fruits of the Spirit that we are to put on. Love covers a multitude of sins and perfect love covers all sins. This is so important in the body of Christ that unites us and knits us together. The last fruit is peace and we have peace with God through the blood of Jesus. Therefore the peace of God is to rule in our hearts, to which also we are called in one body and we are to be thankful for this. When we do this the home is just like a church where all the members are at peace with one another and loving one another unconditionally by the power of the Holy Spirit. So tell your family members how much you love them and are working to keep the peace of God ruling in our hearts in the family. As all families have issues, when we have them we will forgive one another just as Christ has forgiven us.
