Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh's chariots. Thy cheeks are comely with the rows of jewels, thy neck with chains of gold. Song of Solomon 1:9,10

Solomon compares the Shulamite bride, his love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh's chariots. This speaks of what strength she has and she is swift in battle with beautiful cheeks. She has rows of jewels around her neck with chains of gold. This is the manifest destiny that she has and Solomon is blessed to have the most valuable of brides. This speaks of the Church as the Bride of Christ, as He has decks us with cheeks of jewels and covered us with gold. The blood of Jesus is more valuable than gold and more precious than silver nothing can compare to His love for us as His Bride. He is in heaven preparing a place for us where we will be victorious over our enemies. When Jesus returns as King of Kings and Lord of lords, He will be riding a white horse and we will be on horses also to reclaim the title deed of this earth, that Adam had surrendered to Satan. What a glorious day this shall be when my Jesus I shall see, who has saved me from my enemies and will rule in the kingdom of God forevermore.

  • #Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions? If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock and feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents. Song of Solomon 1:7,8

Solomon is so in love with the Shulamite bride that he wants to know where she feeds her flock so that he will not have to go after her companions. He tells her to go thy way by the footsteps of the flock and feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents. Looks like she is his leading wife and he does not want competition with her other companions. Polygamy is practiced and God winked at this. Paul in his epistle to the Corinthians told them to let every man have his own wife which is monogamy. So as you read the Song of Solomon keep in mind that Solomon though he was the wisest man to live, was not indwelt by the Holy Spirit as we are today so these things are written for our learning so that we can allow the Spirit to guide us in our marriages in a monogamous way. We can learn that husbands love their wives as Christ loves the Church and gave himself for her. Feed your wife the Word of God so that she can be holy and undefiled in the bedroom.

  • #Look not upon me because I am black because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards but mine own vineyard has I not kept. Song of Solomon 1:6

The Shulamite bride is black because of the suntanned her and her siblings are angry at her so they made her the keeper of the vineyards. She in response was not able to keep her own vineyard. So you wonder if the siblings were angry because she was black, why did they not get suntanned also? Today suntanning is still practiced and many get skin cancer as a result of this, so make sure you are using sunscreen lotion, and do not overexpose yourself to the ultraviolet rays of the sun. It is amazing how up-to-date the Bible is and this is why I love to study the word of God, for it is a lamp unto my way and alight upon my pathway.

  • #I am black but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon. Song of Solomon 1:5

The Song of Solomon is like a drama: the bride, the Shulamite, the King, and the daughters of Jerusalem. Israel is the Bride of God the Father and the Shulamite is the bride of King Solomon, who is a type of Christ and the church. The Shulamite is black and beautiful and a decedent of the Arabians, who were of the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon. This is a love story about marriage and there are three loves needed in marriage: Agape, which is unconditional love, Phileo, which is friendship, and Eros, which is romantic. Solomon loves this Shulamite bride unconditionally and she is his best friend. They have great romance in marriage. If all marriages had these types of love in them there would be fewer divorces. I pray as we go through this Song of Songs, which is the Latin term for this book, that marriages will be strengthened. The Bible is written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin so it is good to know these languages to appreciate the Song of Solomon.

  • #Because of the savor of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee. Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee. Song of Solomon 1:3,4

We must listen to King Solomon when he talks about women, as he was the wisest man to ever live and it behooves us to mark how he talks about the love of his wives as good ointments. The virgins love thee more than the love of wine and the upright love thee. This speaks of the love the Church, the bride of Christ, has for Him. God is a jealous God and we know that we must not have any other gods to compete against Him. So you say why does God allow Solomon to have many wives? Well, scripture does not approve of this but it was practiced in the old testament and God winked at this. We know that God is not winking anymore as we are commanded that let every man have his only wife and the same for the woman to have her only husband. Yet we can learn a lot from Solomon in this book and all these things were written for our examples so that we can live a more godly life by the power of the Holy Spirit. So be glad in your marriage and love your spouse more than wine and always be cherished by her love.

  • #The song of songs, which is Solomon's. Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine. Song of Solomon 1:1,2

The Song of Solomon is a book about Christ's love for the Church, from Solomon's perspective and we know he had many wives yet it applies to the Old and New Testament in a pious and pathetical way. I hope you will enjoy it as Spring is the season of love perhaps you are in a relationship or marriage just imagine the kisses of your spouse being better than wine. Certainly, the Holy Spirit moved upon holy men to give to us these scriptures, and Solomon is perceived to be the author of this book. Just enjoy and kiss your mate and tell them how much you love them, as Christ loves the Church and gave Himself for her upon the Cross.

  • #Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. 1 John 5:21

The apostle John is concluding this great first epistle of John with little children, keep yourselves from idols. Knowing the tendency of people is to make idols of sports figures, and money. We must pray to God to keep us focused on the Lord Jesus Christ and not to love this world or the things of this world. The Israelites made this mistake after the Lord had delivered them From Egyptian bondage they made an idol out of a golden calf. This provoked Moses to anger and he broke the ten commandments. We must guard our hearts by making sure that Jesus is the focus of our love and not be friends with the world which is an enemy of God. When we love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, and soul, we will love our neighbor as ourselves. So do this by setting your affection on things in heaven, not on things of the earth. For the world and all of the lust of the world is passing away, but he that does the will of God shall abide forever.

  • #And we know that the Son of God is come and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true and we are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. The true God and eternal life. 1 John 5:20

This is the record so that we may know that Jesus Christ is the true Son of God and has come to give us the understanding of the truth. As Pilot questioned Jesus by saying what is truth? Jesus replied I am the truth. That is the essence of truth and eternal life. He that hath the Son has life, but he that has not the Son has not life. If you die in that state you will be eternally doomed to hellfire. So believe the truth and you will be set free and born again by faith in Jesus Christ. God sent His Son so that we may know the truth and has given us understanding by the power of the Holy Spirit. This has been the theme of this awesome book that we have been studying and it is my prayer that by faith you will believe and have eternal life by believing in the only begotten Son of God.

  • #And we know that we are of God and the whole world lieth in wickedness. 1 John 5:19

We are kept by the power of God therefore we are of God, while the whole world lies in the hand of wickedness. The devil came to kill, steal, but Jesus came that we could have life and that abundantly. It is important in this pandemic that we continue to get vaccinated and not let fears of side effects stop us from reaching herd immunity.  God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. This is how we as Christians should be a model to the unbelievers in the world as they see our faith. For we walk by faith and not by sight. So it is time to get your vaccination and trust God will allow all things to work together for good to those who love the Lord and according to his purpose. So remember we are not in wickedness but are kept by the power of God.

  • #We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself and that wicked one toucheth him not. 1 John 5:18

The entire sanctification of believers comes at glorification and the fact that whoever is born again of the Lord Jesus Christ does not practice sin because the Holy Spirit keeps him from the devil, that wicked one touches him not.  St. John has already told us that he has written these things unto us so that we sin not, but if any man sins he has an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous one. So we are kept by the power of God to live a holy life doing righteousness and walking in love toward every man. This is the evidence that one has been born of God. When we see Jesus, we will be just like Him for our terrestrial body will be changed into our celestial body and our salvation will be complete.
