A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

The person will know we are of God when they hear us; he that is not of God will not hear us. This is how we know the spirit of truth from the spirit of error. We are of God when we keep His commandments and love one another. Do good to all men especially those of the household of faith. Jesus wants us to sell our goods, give to the poor, and follow Him. When we do all these things we prove that we are of God and the spirit of truth. If anyone hates his brother, then he is of the spirit of error and the truth is not in him.
#They are of the world therefore speak they of the world and the world heareth them. 1 John 4:5
The false prophets are of the world therefore they speak of the world and the world hears them. They deny that Jesus is a virgin-born or comes in the flesh and we must not listen to them or bid them God speed. This is the spirit of antichrist that we were told would come and already is in the world. So we must walk in the Spirit so that we can discern all spirits whether they are of God. False teachers prey on ignorance so we must study the word of God so that when they speak lies in hypocrisy we will know it and not be deceived thereby. I thank my God through Christ Jesus the Lord that He has given us all things that pertain unto godliness and righteousness. So we can know the truth and the truth has set us free. The world is not of God and knows not God so they will hate us and we must not seek to please them. Therefore let us seek only to please God walking in the truth.
#Ye are of God, little children and have overcome them because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4
We are of God little children and have overcome the world because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. The Holy Spirit in us is greater than Satan who is in this world so be an overcomer by allowing the Spirit to control you and baptize you with the gifts of the Spirit. Being an overcomer is possible as we walk in the Spirit and the power of God is manifest in our lives as we love one another. Love is of God and we are born of God when we love one another. This is love that God gave us His Son to be a propitiation for our sins. Now we are accepted in the Beloved because we have been forgiven and are justified by the Blood of Jesus Christ.
#And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come and even now already is it in the world. 1 John 4:3
Any spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God and as you have been told this is the spirit of antichrist that you heard would come and even now already is in the world. This is how we identify false teachers and antichrist. So if they deny Jesus Christ was virgin born, of Mary, then get away from them and do not wish them God speed. False teachers must not be entertained or allowed to enter your homes. I have seen how so many people have had their lives and marriages destroyed by false teachers so make sure you heed this warning.
#Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God: 1 John 4:2
This is how we know the true spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God. This is the Spirit of God and He indwells all true believers. It is imperative that you believe in the virgin birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, as He is very God and very man in His hypostatic union. If anyone denies that Jesus Christ is Lord that died on the cross for our sins is of the antichrist. The Virgin Mary gave Him humanity and the Holy Spirit gave Him the divinity. This is how we worship God in Spirit and in truth. So test the spirit by the Spirit of God and check their doctrine that it matches the Word of God then you will know that everyone has made the confession of faith is true of God. I pray that this will enlighten you to the gospel and make you more fervent in the faith. Walking in the Spirit proving all things that are of God.
#Beloved, believe not every spirit but try the spirits whether they are of God because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1
The apostle John is warning the Christians to believe not every spirit but to try the spirits whether they are of God because many false teachers, as well as prophets, are gone out into the world to deceive many. We need to hide the word of God in our hearts so that we know false doctrine when we hear it. This is the best protection against false prophets and false teachers. Try the spirits by the Spirit of God. For the Spirit of God takes the things of Christ and makes them real unto us. The false spirits try to glorify self, and this is the number one way to know what spirit is of God from the false spirits of the world.
#And he that keepeth His commandments dwelleth in Him and he in Him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. 1 John 3:24
We prove that we dwell in God when we keep His commandments. This is the evidence that the Spirit of God is abiding in us, that Jesus promised to send. Jesus said I will not leave you as orphans, but He would send the Spirit of truth to abide in us and comfort us. I thank God that His commandments are not burdensome and we can keep the commandment. Love is the fulfillment of the Law, as Jesus said if you love me, then you will keep my commandments. Beloved, let us love one another as Jesus loved us and gave Himself on the cross for our sins. So abide in Him and let His word abide in you and you will ask what you will then it will be done unto you. This is the key to answered prayer and us keeping His commandments.
#And this is His commandment, That we should believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. 1 John 3:23
The commandment that we must keep is to believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. This puts an end to racism and segregation for to love your neighbor as yourself means you will live next to him. The Church today is still mostly segregated, while there are some multicultural ones left, but by and large, most churches are still segregated. If we are going to the same heaven then we should be able to go to the same church. Jesus told the disciples a new commandment give I unto you that you love one another as I have loved you. When the Church truly loves one another segregation will no longer be a problem.
#And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him because we keep his commandments and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1 John 3:22
Having an effective prayer life means we must keep his commandments. Jesus gave us a new commandment that we love one another as he has loved us. When we do this God will answer our prayers. So if your prayers are not being answered, then you must have a love problem. The first and great commandment is that we love the Lord God with all our hearts, mind, and soul. The second is like unto it that we love our neighbors as ourselves and on these two commandments hangs all the law. So ask the Lord to create in me a clean heart so that I can love you more and more as well as my neighbor. So who is my neighbor? The story of the good Samaritan is the best example of who is my neighbor, as a stranger fell among thieves, was robbed, and left half dead. A priest and a Levite passed by him, but the Samaritan bandaged him up and put him on his donkey, took him to the hospital while paying for his needs. This is true love in action and if we love like this, our prayers will be answered.
#Beloved, if our heart condemns us not, then we have confidence toward God. 1John 3:21
When our heart does not condemn us then we have confidence toward God and our sins have been forgiven. We know that we are walking in the light as He is in the Light and the blood of Jesus cleanses us daily of all sins. What a blessing to have a pure heart, for we shall see God and know that our sins are forgiven. Therefore always be quick to forgive others so that no bitterness will spring up in your heart and cause it to condemn you. Jesus said when you stand praying if you have ought against anyone, then forgive and our Heavenly Father will forgive you of all your sins. This is the blessing of obedience as we allow the love of God to reign supreme in our hearts. God is a forgiving Heavenly Father and He has told us to forgive others their debts and He will forgive our debts also. So love one another with a pure heart and you will have no occasion to stumble. Having confidence before God will be a blessing on Judgment Day.
