A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #His legs are as pillars of marble, set upon sockets of fine gold: his countenance is as Lebanon, excellent as the cedars. Song of Solomon 5:15

This is a picture of Jesus Christ in all of His glory, as Jesus spoke of Solomon not clothing himself as the lilies of the field, so he is giving us what Jesus will look like in His unveiling in the book of the Apocalypse. We will see Him as He is for when He appears we will be just like Him fashioned after His glory. Cedar trees are stately trees and are very tall symbolizing the Kingdom of God will start as a mustard seed and yet grow into a tall cedar tree.

  • #His hands are as gold rings set with the beryl: his belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires. Song of Solomon 5:14                                                                                                                    This is a picture of the glorified Lord Jesus Christ in all of His glory as of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords and we will spend eternity in heaven praising His as the Lamb of God that was slain for the sins of the world. We are engrafted into the vine by faith and we too will get glorified bodies like His when we all get to heaven. Seeing these things what manner of persons should we be in all godliness and holiness. Let us put off the former clothes of the flesh and be clothed in the righteousness of Christ. II Cor. 5:17 if any man is in Christ Jesus he is a new creation for the former things are passed away and all things have become new.

  • #His cheeks are as a bed of spices, as sweet flowers: his lips like lilies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh. Son of Solomon 5:13

Solomon was as cheeks are spices and sweet flowers, his lips like lilies dropping sweet smelling myrrh to the Shulamite wife. This is how marriage is supposed to be and this is the love that the Lord Jesus Christ has for the Church. Agape love smelled myrrh even when crucified on the cross for our sins. We too must lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. This is how we show our love for Jesus the lily of the valley. Though our lives are as sweet flowers, yet the outward man is fading away, while the inner man is renewed day by day. We must take time to smell the flowers because life is so short and man is but a vapor here today and tomorrow we die. Thank God we will receive our glorified bodies when Jesus comes again in the first resurrection to change these mortal bodies into immortality, and this terrestrial body into celestial bodies.

  • #His eyes are as the eyes of doves by the river of waters, washed with milk and fitly set. Song of Solomon 5:12

The dove has such beautiful eyes and the Shulamite wife compares Solomon's eyes to that of doves by the river of waters, washed with milk and fitly set. This is a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ when He was baptized in the Jordan river a dove descended upon Him and the voice of the Lord said this is my Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. The eyes of the Lord go two and fro beholding all things that are good as well as evil. We must turn our eyes upon Jesus and look firmly in His face since we have been saved by His grace.

  • #His head is as the most fine gold, his locks are bushy and black as a raven. Song of Solomon 5:11

To look like Jesus is the goal to be fine gold, as Job said when the Lord is through with me I shall come forth as pure gold. Having hair with bushy locks and black as a raven would indicate that our heavenly glorified bodies will be perfect with youthful hair as we will be forever young no more bald heads as some of us have to endure in our final days on earth. God used ravens to feed Elijah and this is an example of us feeding on the eternal Word of God as a lamp unto our feet as well as a light unto our pathway. This pandemic that we are going through will be forgotten for the former things will be passed away.

  • #My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest among ten thousand. Song of Solomon 5:10

This is a picture of the Lord Jesus when He comes in white robes and His hair white as wool which purifies us by His blood. He is our beloved Savior of our souls that will change our vile bodies into glorified bodies like His. We will be cleansed as white as snow. Let us look to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. The Shulamite wife is talking about Solomon who is a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ, to those of us who are saved and are becoming more like Jesus every day in every way. White is the symbol of purity and only the blood of Jesus purifies our sins. When we get to heaven we will all be white and ruddy as pure as gold.

  • #What is thy beloved more than another beloved, O thou fairest among women? what is thy beloved more than another beloved, that thou dost so charge us? Song of Solomon 5:9

The daughters of Jerusalem question the Shulamite wife as being the most beautiful among women and why she would charge them about another beloved? Solomon is the wisest man to ever live and he had a great choice in wives. The Shulamite wife was chosen by him because she is the most beautiful of his wives and so she is jealous other women are trying to steal her beloved. It is important to build strong relationships in marriage so that jealousy will not be a problem. Love believes all things, endures all things, and love never fails. So when the marriage is based on love it will stand through the storms of life. It is my prayer that marriages that are in trouble will rekindle the love so that the relationship will be till death do us part.

  • #I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem if ye find my beloved, that ye tell him that I am sick of love. Song of Solomon 5:8

The Shulamite wife is looking for her beloved husband Solomon and she charges the daughters of Jerusalem if they find him that I am sick of love. This is the kind of love Titus taught the older women to teach the younger wives how to love their husbands. Love is as cruel as the grave and we can love so much that we become sick unto death. Jesus said no greater love can we have than to lay down our lives for our friends. Jesus demonstrated that on the cross and told us we too must bear our own cross. May God fill us with the love of Christ so that we will love our spouses as Christ loves the Church.

  • #The watchmen that went about the city found me, they smote me, they wounded me; the keepers of the walls took away my veil from me. Song of Solomon 5:7

These watchmen are the false prophets that devour the flock of God as Jesus told us to beware of false prophets and you will know the tree by the fruit that it bears. As we are not to judge but we are called to be fruit inspectors. Paul warned us in I Cor. 11 that Satan has ministers that parade around as angels of light. Jude warned us that these are wandering stars clouds without rain. As true ministers of Christ, we are to watch over the flock of God. Yes, Jesus asked Peter lovest thou me more than these? Peter replied yes Lord. Then Jesus said feed my lambs. Peter answered Lord thou knowest all things. Jesus wanted Peter to answer with agape love and not the Pheleo that he responded with. Then Jesus told Peter to feed my sheep for when you are old they will take you where you will not want to go. Jesus told us that if we are to be His disciples we must deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him. We must watch over the flock of God pouring out ourselves as a drink offering. When we come to the end of our ministry we should be able to say I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith. Now there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which God the righteous Judge will give to me, as well as all those who will love His appearing.

  • #I opened to my beloved but my beloved had withdrawn himself and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer. Song of Solomon 5:6

The Shulamite wife sought out Solomon, her beloved husband but he had withdrawn himself and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: So I sought him but could not find him. It appears Solomon is using tuff love to test his wife's love for him. Distance makes the heart grow fonder and the mind wonders what is my beloved doing? It is good in marriage to come apart for a while to get close to the Lord. This should only be done for a season then you should come together again less ye become tempted. I am apart from my beloved and it has almost been five years. I am calling out to the Lord to restore marital romance so that we can dance again as friends. I can understand how the Shulamite wife is sick of love and tells the daughters of Jerusalem to look out for him. The foundation of the Lord stands secure, let all those that name the Lord Jesus Christ depart from iniquity. If you see a brother or a sister caught in a sin, ye that are spiritual should restore such a one considering yourself less ye also should be tempted. This is how the body of Christ is strengthened in the faith.
