A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door and my bowels were moved for him. Song of Solomon 5:4

This is a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ at the door of the Church knocking and the Bride of Christ longing for Him to come and take us away to heaven. We are moved in our bowels longing for the coming of the Lord. Blessed are those that when He comes will be found faithful serving his household when he comes. I pray that marriages can be restored and families can be united by the truth. All those suffering from mental illness will have all their anxieties done away with and the pandemic will be over. Forever we will go into the kingdom to celebrate the honeymoon with the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • #I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I have washed my feet; how shall I defile them? Song of Solomon 5:3

This is a picture of the Christian life when we accept the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Savior our sins are washed away in the blood of the Lamb and if any man is in Christ Jesus he is a new creation, old things are passed away all things have become new. When Jesus washed the disciples' feet in the upper room, Peter said wash me not. but Jesus said if I wash you not ye have no part of Me. Then Peter said wash me all over, then Jesus said he that is washed only needs his feet washed. The meaning of this is there is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus walk not after the flesh but according to the Spirit. When Jesus is in you then the Holy Spirit keeps you from being defiled. That is why we are told to grieve not the Spirit whereby we are sealed unto the day of salvation. When we come to Christ it is as though we put off the old coat of sin and put on the robe of righteousness in Christ Jesus. Paul in Romans 6 said shall ye that are baptized into Jesus sin again? God forbids that since we have died to sin the old man is dead and the new man is awake to live by grace.

  • #I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew and my locks with the drops of the night. Song of Solomon 5:2

The Shulamite wife is sleep, but her heart is awakened by her beloved Solomon knocking on the door. This is a picture of the Lord Jesus knocking on the door of our heart to come in and sup with us the Church undefiled without spot or blemish. The marital bed must be undefiled and we must live in holiness before our Lord Jesus Christ for without holiness no man will see the Lord. It is so sweet to be in love with the Lord waiting for His appearance to take us away to our heavenly home. We must wash our garments in the blood of the Lamb and walk in the righteousness of Christ. We are like that Shulamite wife waiting and working in the vineyard until the Lord of the harvest takes us away. So let us be vigilant for the devil is a roaring lion going about seeking whom he may devour. We must put on the whole armor of Christ so that we can stand against all the wiles of the devil. I must work in the vineyard while it is the day before the night comes and no man can work.

  • #I have come into my garden, my sister, my spouse: I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk: eat, O friends; drink, yea, drink abundantly, O beloved. Song of Solomon 5:1

This is a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ coming to the Garden of Gethsemane to purchase our salvation with myrrh the spice that we too must eat to be his disciples. Honeycomb with my honey is a picture of the marriage relationship with the Bride of Christ. Marriage is great when we can drink wine with our honey and drink milk, as well as eat with our friends. Happy Memorial Day and let us remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice on the battlefields.

  • #Awake, O north wind and come thou south; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits. Song of Solomon 4:16

This is a picture of the mighty rushing wind of the Holy Spirit blowing upon the Church at Pentecost blowing upon the garden of believers Jews and Gentiles being baptized by the Spirit to bear the fruits of love, peace, joy, patience, meekness, gentleness, and self-control as the pleasant fruits to eat. We must be willing to be pruned by the Lord so that we can bear much fruit so that the Father in heaven is glorified. As we allow the Lord to cut off the dead branches that are not bearing fruit and then tells us to go into his vineyard to do the Father's business. Fruit-bearing is evidenced by the love that we have one for the other. Jesus said by these fruits being in our lives all men will know that we are His disciples by the love we have bearing one another burdens. Then love covers a multitude of sins and allows us to forgive just as Jesus forgave us. Let the wind blow and go out into the highways and byways to compel them to come into His kingdom. Awake to righteousness and allow the Holy Spirit to produce these fruits in our lives by loving all people just as Jesus loves us.

  • #A fountain of gardens, a well of living waters, and streams from Lebanon. Song of Solomon 4:15

This is a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ to the Church, as He defeated Satan in the Garden of Gethsemane and everyone that places their faith in Him, out of his belly flows rivers of living waters. I praise God that He uses Solomon the wisest man to live on this earth to describe his love for the Shulamite wife to use these garden-like features such as spikenard which was used to prepare our Lord's body for burial. This is the gospel of the death, burial, and resurrection from the grave. Now we have hope for resurrection from the grave for when we see Him we will be just like Him, fashioned like unto his glorious body. So if you want this living water today, I challenge you to bow your head and ask the Lord Jesus Christ to come into your heart today. He will save you and you will have this garden of the fruits of the Spirit as well as living waters in your heart.

  • #Thy plants are an orchard of pomegranates, with pleasant fruits; camphire, with spikenard, and saffron; calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense; myrrh and aloes, with all spices: Song of Solomon 4:13,14

Climate change has killed many a garden and the fruit trees. It is time to reduce the greenhouse gases causing these extreme weather patterns and reduce the carbon footprint in the world. Thank God that President Biden has joined the Paris Climate Accord, and nations need to adhere to the dictates of it so that our grandchildren will have a better world to live in. All of my grapefruit trees died from the deep freeze that hit Texas and if we do nothing it will just get worst. Having a garden does wonders for marriage as my grandmother taught me the importance of growing your food and Solomon is reinfusing this in this passage.

  • #A garden enclosed is my sister, my spouse, a spring shut up, a fountain sealed. Song of Solomon 4:12

Solomon has such love for his Shulamite wife, that she is as precious as a garden enclosed with all kinds of vegetables and a spring of water shut up, a fountain sealed for him only. This is a beautiful picture of marriage as your spouse is to be for you only, forsaking all others, even mother as well as father to cleave to thy wife. Jesus said let no man tear asunder those that are joined in matrimony as marriage is a picture of the relationship Christ has with the Church. There is a fountain sealed with blood taken from Emanuel's Blood and all who plunge in it lose all their guilty stains. We will be presented to the Lord Jesus Christ as a chaste virgin without spot or blemish when He comes to call us to heaven. What a day that will be my Jesus I will see what glory that will be when He takes me by His hand saved by His amazing grace.

  • #Thy lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: honey and milk are under thy tongue and the smell of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon. Song of Solomon 4:11

This is a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ and His love for the Church. Jesus is the bread of life and whoever eats that bread has eternal life. Husbands are to love their wives as Christ loves the church and give her the same love that you have for your own body. Clarity comes when you are born again of the Spirit of God. Always give thanks to God for your spouse and you should put on the garments of service as a sign of your love for your spouse. I thank God for marriage for it is honorable in all and the bed is undefiled. Husbands render benevolence to your wives and wives render due benevolence to your husbands. We this is done marriage is wonderful and conflicts are at a minimum. Solomon knew how to do this to the Shulamite Bride from Lebanon. We can learn a lot from one of the wisest men to live with. So if you lack wisdom ask of God who gives to all without discrimination.

  • #Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse; thou hast ravished my heart with one of thine eyes, with one chain of thy neck. Song of Solomon 4:9

This passage is telling us that Solomon is married to his sister and she has ravished his heart. Is she really his sister since this would be in violation of Lev. 20:17? I do not believe she is his real sister but it is that his love for her is like a sister in Christ. Abraham was married to Sarah, his half-sister and twice when he was in trouble he pawned her off as his sister. Brothers and sisters are not to marry for the children would have biological defects. This is why we must have blood tests before we get married to prevent this from happening. This is something that causes us to question   Adam and Eve when they had children how did they marry? It is certain that the brother and sister had to marry to populate the earth. The scripture does not tell us that they did but this is a profound theological question that has troubled us and we will have to wait until we get to heaven to talk to our Lord Jesus Christ to understand. We see through a glass darkly now but when He that is perfect comes, then we will know as we are known.
