A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not. And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theatre. Acts 19:30,31

It is very important to have friends in high places and this is what Paul has. As the disciples knew the intent of the people was to harm him, so they suffered him not to go into the people. So a certain of the chief of Asia, these men were called Asiarchs and were ten in number, who were friends of Paul. These men officiated these games and festivals. There were many times in Paul's ministry that great Roman officials would treat him not only with respect but sympathy also. So they would not suffer Paul to go into the theatre because some cried one thing and some another: for the assembly was confused and the more part knew not wherefore they have come together. We see the providential hand of God using these officials who were good friends to save his life. God is not the author of confusion and the people were confused and Satanically inspired. I thank God that He has the right people in our lives at the right time to deliver us from danger. This has happened in my life also, as I look back at the miraculous deliverance of the Lord. Truly Romans 8:28 God is working all things together for our good and according to His purposes for those that love the Lord. So if you find yourself perplexed just pray Lord to make a way for me when there seems to be no way and He will answer your prayer.

  • #And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians. Acts 19:28

The bible tells us that God causes the wrath of men to praise Him and it is such that after Paul had spoken, all the people of Ephesus that were worshipping Diana, were full of wrath crying out saying Great is Diana. God is a jealous God and Paul has just warned the people that there are no gods made with men's hands. So the whole world city was filled with confusion and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, Paul's companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre. We see here that God is not the author of confusion, but Satan is. This crowd is mad and wants Paul so they can be thrown to the wild beasts, dragging with them also. Nevertheless, the disciples when they heard about it would not suffer Paul to go into the theatre. This is where Paul talked about the dangers he faced in II Cor. 11 and how he had suffered great trials among his countrymen. Thank the Lord that He knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and so He did for Paul and his companions in travel. We can learn much from this passage of the scriptures about how we must trust God to deliver us when we are faithful to His word. It is my prayer that all our brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world will be delivered from all these trials.

  • #And at the same time there arose no small stir about that way. For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen; Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth. Acts 19:23,24,25

This Demetrius made these silver shrines to the temple Diana at Ephesus which was one of the many wonders of the world. It contained an image said to have fallen from heaven (Acts 19:35) So this was the work of Demetrius and his fellow workers which was made of wood, gold, and silver materials. After this temple was destroyed paganism fell under Constantinople and it was used to construct the church of St. Sophia. This was so wondering that God was glorified as Paul hath persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are no gods, which are made with hands: So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at naught; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth. Praise God for the boldness of Paul and how we need that same boldness to stand for Christ in these last days before the coming of the Lord. I pray that there will be a great turning of people to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • #So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus, but he himself stayed in Asia for a season. Acts 19:22

Paul is about to come into a very turbulent time in his ministry and the devil is angry that the way of Christ is being advanced so he sends for Timotheus and Erastus. We do not hear much about Erastus but he is mentioned in Romans 16:23 and so powerfully did the word of God grow with great efficacy. The people have put away their idols, the silver shrines to Diana in the famous temple. This is what is going to cause a great deal of pain for those who were making a lot of money selling these idols. The silversmiths were getting rich, and now Paul has caused their business to lose money. We are facing similar trials in America when we preach against the legalization of cannabis as they call it. All those who live godly in Christ Jesus will face persecution. This is where Alexander the coppersmith did Paul much harm, but he knew that God would vindicate him of the evil that was caused to him for preaching the gospel. I praise God that He does not test us more than we can bear, but makes a way of escape for us to endure it.

  • #So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed. After these things were ended,  Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia to go to Jerusalem,  saying after I have been there,  I must also see Rome. Acts 19:20, 21

So the word of God prevailed and after these things ended, Paul sought not to rest. He purposed in his heart after his journey into Macedonia and Achaia to go to Jerusalem. The magnanimity of Paul exceeds Cesar and Alexander the Great so he wants to prove this Benjamite is superior. So the Lord allowed this to be fulfilled in Rom. 1:13.

  • #Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it Fifty thousand pieces of silver. Acts 19:19

How the churches need to have a bonfire and burn these magical arts and crt books. Then we need to give the money raised from this event to the poor. I am sure revival would break out in the Church. This is what happened in Ephesus after Paul told them what to do. This is real repentance and God would heal our land from climate change.

  • #And there were seven sons of one sceva,  a Jew and chief of the preists,  which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know and Paul I know but who are ye? Acts 19:14,15

We are seeing a question of demoniacal possession and Matt. 8:29 talks about this. Jesus had told the disciples to rejoice that the demons are subject to them,  but only rejoice that your names are written down in the Lamb's Book in heaven. And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of the house naked and wounded. And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus and fear fell on them all and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. And many that believed came and confessed and showed their deeds.

  • #Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists,  took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, we adjurr you by Jesus whom Paul preached. Acts 19:13

These vagabond Jews thinking it a sort of incantation, seek to have an exorcism. The Lord Jesus refers to them in Matt. 12:27 and Josephus said they derived the knowledge of this art from Solomon. This is a classic example of not having a Personal relationship with the Lord and what happens to you. Satan can only be overcome by the power of the Lord Jesus and not by someone who preaches Jesus. This shows us here that there is humor in the bible. Satan laughs at all those who attempt to expel him out of the bodies or souls of men but by Divine faith.

  • #And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons and the diseases departed from them, and evil spirits went out of them. Acts 19:11,12

What a blessing as the hand of the Lord was on Paul: such that special miracles were being done and the diseased were being healed and the evil spirits went out of them. How we need a move of God in this pandemic. So if we need to use handkerchiefs or aprons let the hand of the Lord fall on us. I pray that those suffering from mental illness will be healed in Jesus's name Amen.

  • #And he went into the synagogue and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. Acts 19:8

Paul had returned to the synagogue preaching the gospel for three months disputing and persuading them of the things of the kingdom of God. But when divers were hardened and believed not but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of Tyrannus. We see how when the gospel is not accepted, it is ok to separate the disciples as Paul did. He did this for two years;  so that all they who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews, and Greeks.
