A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #And as he had thus spoken for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; because of thine much learning doth make thee mad. Acts 26:24

The Greek word for mad is Eis which means against, among, as at backward. a preposition governing the accusative denoting entrance into, or direction and limit. Thus Festus had reached a limit with Paul for his learning. This was the highest compliment that he could have given Paul, for he indeed had been well trained under Gamaliel and could speak five languages. It was the Holy Spirit that was giving him the wisdom to speak just as the Lord Jesus had promised. This tells us that when we come before kings and magistrates the Lord will fight our battles and give us the words to speak for His glory. We today think as a man that is called mad is crazy, but not so this is how the Holy Spirit speaks through us. We must therefore be like Samuel in the Old Testament who said speak Lord for thy servant listens. When we listen to God speaking to us by the power of the Holy Spirit we will always have the right words to speak at the appointed time. It is my prayer that in these days of apostasy we will be in tune with the Spirit as He is speaking to us and say thus saith the Lord God.

  • #For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple and went about to kill me. Acts 26:21

The Greek word for temple is Hieros; which is a sacred place, i.e. The entire precinct that denotes the central sanctuary. This is where Jesus or the apostles are said to have gone up or entered to teach and encountered adversaries and the like. So it is no surprise that Paul would be caught by the Jews in the Hieros teaching when they tried to kill him. We can remember when Jesus drove the buyers and sellers and money changers out by saying my Temple is a house of prayer but you have turned it into a den of robbers. Jesus had warned Paul on the Damascus road that he would suffer many things. Jesus told us not to fear those who can destroy the body only, but Him that can destroy the soul and spirit in the Lake of Fire. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost and we must not defile them with sexual immorality. So it is because of this teaching that the Jews were trying to kill Paul, but the scriptures tell us many are the afflictions of the righteous, yet out of them, all God delivers us. Having therefore obtained the help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: That Christ should suffer and that He should be the first that should rise from the dead and should show light unto the people and to the Gentiles.

  • #But showed first unto them of Damascus and at Jerusalem and throughout all the coasts of Judaea and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God and do works meet for repentance. Acts 26:20

The Greek word for repentance is Metanoia which means a change of mind as it appears in one who repents of a purpose he has formed or of something he has done. Luke 15:7 As with the prodigal son he said I shall return to my Father's house. It is a military term that means an about-face. Just like Saul turned from his persecution to praying to the Lord Jesus Christ after the Damascus road experience and got on a straight street and kept going straight. And the Lord changed his name to Paul for he was a chosen vessel to declare the truth to the Jews first, then to the Gentiles. We too must turn those from darkness to the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Polyamory is being practiced as a way to have a plural marriage, which is darkness and must be repented of. In the Old Testament, this was practiced because God winked at this but now in the New Testament, He has established let every man and woman have one spouse. For God has appointed a day when we will all be judged by that man the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • #Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision. Acts 26:19

The Greek word for vision is Optasia which means an appearing from a presumed derivative of optanomai; visuality, i.e. an apparition. A sight or an appearance presented to one whether asleep or awake. Thus Paul states to king Agrippa that when he received the heavenly vision of the Lord Jesus Christ on the Damascus road he was not disobedient. This is why we have the fourteen books of the New Testament that Paul has written because of that vision of our Lord. I thank God also for the vision of him being caught up in heaven, whether in the body, he did not know but he saw and heard unspeakable things. Because of the abundance of the revelation, there was given to him a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet him, lest he should be exalted above measure. It is there that we see how powerful the grace of God is, for His strength is made perfect in our weakness. Therefore, will I boast in my weakness for then am I strong? It is paradoxical but true. So my brothers and sisters if you receive a vision of the Lord do not be disobedient as the apostle Paul has taught us.

  • #To open their eyes and to turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26:18

The Greek word for sanctify is Hagiazo which means to make holy or consecrate. i.e. to purify. This is done by separating one from things profane and dedicated to God. Since the stamp of sacredness passes over from the holiness of God to whatever it has any connection with God. Jesus said in John 17:7 Sanctify them by thy truth. The truth of God makes us holy and thus this is why the Lord Jesus delivered Paul from the Jews and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light. The Greek word for darkness is Skotos which means shadiness, i.e. Obscurity.  Thus Paul was commissioned by Jesus to turn the people from the power of Satan unto God so that they might receive forgiveness of sins to their eternal inheritance among them which are sanctified. All of this is done when we place our faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the faith that is in me, that I am being imprisoned for. When we think of inheritance we are not talking about material things, but all the spiritual blessings that we have seated with Christ in the heavenly.

  • #But rise and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for  this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Acts 26:16

As we have watched on television the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and we thank God for her Christian faith and hope of the resurrection. Just as our Lord Jesus Christ appeared to Paul as the risen Savior of the world and appointed him to be a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen. Our prayer is for King Charles III to lead the United Kingdom in wisdom and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ till we are all united in the Kingdom with the King of kings, and Lord of lords. May the Lord grant peace to Jerusalem the great city of the King.

  • #Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead? Acts 26:8

The Greek word for incredible is Apistos which means unbelieving, i.e. Without Christian faith, an infidel. Such as Thomas was incredulous at the news of the resurrection of Jesus. John 20:27 or a perfidious person. So it is that Paul is raising the question regarding the belief in the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. As with doubting Thomas, he believed when Jesus told him to put his hand on his side and be not unbelieving. Thomas said, my Lord and my God. Jesus then said you believe because you have seen, but blessed are those who believe and have not seen. That includes all of us in the Church age. So this is the basis for Paul to argue before Agrippa because he saw the risen Christ on the Damascus road. I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. Which thing I also did in Jerusalem and many saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests, and when they were put to death I gave my voice against them. And I punished them oft in every synagogue and compelled them to blaspheme and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities. Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests, At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me. And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. Thus this is the conversion of Saul on the Damascus road and receiving his apostleship and name change to Paul. So if you are calling yourself an apostle, but you did not have a Damascus road experience like Paul, then you are not genuine. Paul was a changed person from a persecutor to a prayer. This is the proof of the resurrection of Jesus Christ for these disciples who before His resurrection were in fear, but afterward, they turned the world upside down for Jesus.

  • #Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews. Acts 26:7

The Greek word for hope is Elpizo which means to expect. For refuge to wait, for salvation with joy and full confidence. Hebrews 11:1 is the same thing as we get faith from. I Cor. 13:13 now abides faith, hope, and love but the greatest of these is love. As the Jews are hoping for the coming Kingdom of God promised to the twelve tribes for which he is serving God day and night to come. We Christians are waiting for the rapture of the Church when Christ will step out in the clouds to say come up hither, and all those in the grave will be raised first, then we who are alive will be changed into our glorified bodies. We call this the Blessed hope of the Church. When we hope for something we do not see it, but we patiently wait until God shall give it as it is promised, for we hold these immutable trues that it is impossible for God to lie. So we have the blessed assurance that it will come to pass. King Agrippa is listening attentively and Paul is making a great display of his faith and hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the same hope that we have for our loved ones who are called home to glory in death, that is why we do not grieve like those who have no hope. The most difficult thing to do is preach the funeral of one who did not die with faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I challenge anyone today who is on the fence with their faith to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou, as well as the household, shall be saved.

  • #Especially because I know thee to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently. Acts 26:3

The Greek word for beseech is Deomai which means to entreat. or beg i.e. Petition and make a request.  So Paul is making a request of king Agrippa because he is an expert in the law and all the customs concerning the Jews. Thus he will hear Paul patiently make his speech. My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews; Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee. Paul is seeking to educate the king of his pedigree as a Jewish Pharisee from his youth, which all the Jews could testify to. Now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers: Thus king Agrippa is listening attentively to Paul and happy to hear him as he had heard so many things about him. What a blessing this is that God is giving Paul the gift of speech and he is using it for the glory of God. For we know all the promises of God are yes and we say Amen to His glory. So when you are given the chance to give your testimony just know that the Holy Spirit will give you just the words that are needed at the appointed time just as Jesus had told them.

  • #And desired favor against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him. Acts 26:3

The Greek word for favor is Charis which means kindness, literal or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart and its reflection in life. However in this context, the Jews were not trying to show favor but it is used as the kindness of a master toward his inferiors or servants and so, especially of God toward men. Philemon 1:3 they considered Paul a runaway slave and were laying wait in the way to kill him. Yet Paul is bold as a lion and knows that the Lord God will deliver him from the mouth of the lion, for if God be for us then who can be against us? But Festus answered that Paul should be kept at Caesarea and that he himself would depart shortly thither. May God grant favor to King Charles III as he assumes the reign over the United Kingdom in such a time as this, as the Queen did a remarkable job in her 70yr. reign. God save the king and keep Europe from being thrown into the abyss. As they were the recipients of Paul's ministry and he said God would indeed save Israel and king Charles III will be needed to advance the cause of peace and security for Jerusalem the city of the great King, of kings and Lord of Lords.
