A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

#Despise not prophesyings. I Thessalonians 5:20
The Greek word for prophesying is Propheteia meaning prophecy from Prophetes; prediction (scripture or other) prophecy, i.e. discourse emanating from divine inspiration and declaring the purposes of God, whether by reproving and admonishing the wicked, or comforting the afflicted, or revealing things hidden; especially by foretelling future events of utterances of the New Testament and the Old Testament prophets of the prediction of events relating to Christ's kingdom and its speedy triumph, together with the consolations and admonitions pertaining thereto: Rev. 11:6 These have the power to shut heaven, that it rain, not in the days of their prophecy and have power over waters to turn them to blood and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. These gifts are given to prophets like Moses and Elijah. Many believe they will be the two witnesses used in Revelation that will preach the word in the tribulation for three and a half years then be killed, and resurrected in three days, then Raptured to heaven. So we must not despise these prophesies for God uses men who have been ordained by God to preach the word of God warning us to repent of our sins and turn to faith in Jesus Christ to be saved from hell fire and have our names written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
#Quench not the Spirit. I Thessalonians
The Greek word for quench is Sbennymi which means to extinguish. A prolonged form of an apparently primary verb; to extinguish (literally or figuratively)to go out like a fire in the fireplace. Metaphorically, i.e. to suppress, and stifle divine influence in the aorist tense according to Homer. So Paul is using this term to demonstrate that we must never stifle the Holy Spirit when He is working in our lives to make us holy through sanctification. Just like when you start a fire in the fireplace with the gas starter, you do not want to turn it off until the fire is fully engulfing the fireplace. So it is when the Spirit is working in our lives bringing sins to mention that we must flee such as sexual immorality, then we must obey and flee. This is the one sin in the Bible that we are told to run from just like Joseph did when he ran from Poterpher's wife. God makes us holy by teaching us how to deny the flesh those pleasures that are against the will of God. Now marriage is the only relationship between a man and a woman that God allows us to procreate and enjoy the pleasures of intimacy. So, therefore, seek to be holy in all your conversations so that others will see the Lord Jesus Christ in you.
#In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you, I Thessalonians 5:18
The Greek word for thanks is Eucharisteo from Eucharistos; to be grateful, i.e. (actively) to express gratitude; especially to say grace at mealtime according to Josephus, Plutarch, and others. Paul uses the phrase "give thanks" as a blessing for us in everything that happens. Even the bad things that happen to us, the Lord is able to cause them to work together for our good, and His glory. Let us say thanksgiving at meals and everything that happens to us. We do not always understand why things happen, but God has the master plan. Jesus told His disciples before He went to the Cross, you do not know what I am doing but afterward, you will. After the resurrection, His disciples understood why Jesus had to go to the Cross to die for us, that He was saving us from our sins. Jesus said that when we die, it is like being planted on the earth to one day be risen from the grave. Jesus is the firstfruits, then we will follow Him in the first resurrection. So this is why we give thanks when our loved ones die, for God has transitioned them to their heavenly home and to be absent from the body and present with the Lord. So that is why we must not sorrow like those with no hope. Just say Lord be merciful to me a sinner and receive my soul. With this phrase, you will be accepted into heaven after you die. So give thanks in everything and God will bless you to live forever with Him.
#Pray without ceasing. I Thessalonians 5:17
The Greek word for without ceasing is Adialeiptos which means incessantly from the adverb Adialeiptos; uninterruptedly, i.e. without omission (on an appropriate occasion) without intermission. assiduously. So this is what Paul is telling the Thessalonians to always pray without ceasing or intermission. Saying a prayer like " Lord Save me" as Peter did when he was sinking in the ocean and he took his eyes off Jesus. Let us pray for those who persecute us and despitefully use us. Let us pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for the kingdom of God to come on earth as it is in heaven. Jesus taught us how to pray when he said " Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom and the power and glory forever Amen" This prayer we should pray every day for it is the model prayer for us. When the Holy Spirit tells us to pray for someone we must pray immediately for them. When we do this the peace of God that passes all understanding will compass our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
#Rejoice evermore. I Thessalonians 5:16
The Greek word for rejoice is Chairo which means to be glad. A primary verb to be cheerful, i.e. calmly happy or well-off; impersonally especially as a salutation on meeting or parting. To be glad, and wish God speed in a greeting. So it is a favorite phrase of the Apostle Paul as while he was in prison, Phil. 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. This tells us that no matter what our physical condition is we can rejoice evermore, for our God will give us the means to be glad in every situation that we find ourselves in. So despite this freezing rain that has stalled much of the south, rejoice in the Lord and give thanks in all things for this is the will of God for us in Christ Jesus. For suffering does not last forever. Soon and very soon the Lord will come to deliver us from this sinful world. Therefore we need to rejoice in that fact evermore and comfort one another with these words. Cause God is changing us from glory to glory. That is why we must rejoice evermore.
#See that none render evil for evil unto any man but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves and to all men. I Thessalonians 5:15
The Greek word for evil is Kakos which means bad, harmful, or ill. Apparently a primary word; is worthless (intrinsically, such; whereas Poneros properly refers to effects), i.e. (subjectively) depraved or (objectively) injurious, noisome, and wicked, So this is what Paul is saying do not react in a depraved mindset toward those who behave in that way toward you. Instead forever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men, especially those of the household of faith. The pandemic has really tested us in ways like nothing before as people get angry at those wearing masks and do not want to be demanded that they wear them also. God wants us to be at peace with all men and follow holiness. And thinking, feeling, or acting based on and wrong of any person does not become Christian behavior. Just pray to the Lord to help me to control my mood swings and allow me to rejoice in the Lord always and again rejoice.
#Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, and be patient toward all men. I Thessalonians 5:14
The Greek word for feebleminded is Oligopsychos which means faint-hearted from Oligos and pshar; little spirited, i.e. small, few, and petite. So Paul is saying to comfort those who are faint-hearted and small in stature and support the weak and be patient toward all men. Give thanks to God in all things for this is the will of God for us in Christ Jesus. The Lord is near to the broken-hearted and the poor in spirit. So we too must do all that we can to support the mentally ill and those who are not able to care for themselves such as Alzheimer's patients. We never know but for the grace of God, we can find ourselves in the same situation.
#And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake, And be at peace among yourselves. I Thessalonians 5:13
The Greek word for esteem is Hegeomai which means to lead, suppose, judge, or think. Figuratively to deem, I.e. considering having rule over. So Paul is saying to think of them very highly and to be at peace among yourselves. Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to walk in love. For love covers a multitude of sins.
#And we beseech you, Brethren, to know them which labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you; I Thessalonians 5:12
The Greek word for admonish is Noutheteo which means to exhort from the same as Nouthesia; to put in mind, i.e. (by implication) to caution or reprove gently according to Plato, Aristophanes and others. So Paul is telling the Thessalonians to remember those men who are laboring among them, that exhort and warn you. We must treat our ministers better because it is hard to preach the gospel we are on the front lines of the battle. We use to sing the hymn " I am on the battlefield for my Lord" That is such an appropriate hymn for I promised Him that I would serve Him until I die. That is why we must remember them and reward them with double honor for their service to the Church. I pray that as we get closer to the coming of the Lord that parishioners will realize that greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for the sheep. That is what Jesus did for us, and He told us to do it for one another.
#Wherefore comfort yourselves and edify one another, even as you do. I Thessalonians 5:11
The Greek word for Edify is Oikodomeo which means to build a house. from the same as Oikodome; to be a house-builder; i.e. Construct or (figuratively) embolden. A perfect infinitive for building a house or erecting a building. Paul is using these words as a master builder of the church and telling the Thessalonians to build one another up in their most holy faith in the body of Christ. Jesus is the Head and cornerstone of the Church and He told Peter on this rock I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not overcome it. We are to encourage one another as Christian brothers and sisters. So walk in the light as He is in the Light and fellowship one with another and the blood of Jesus will cleanse us from all ungodliness.
