A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us. I Thessalonians 2:8

The Greek word for affectionately is Homeiromai which means a yearning of uncertain affinity; too long for especially of the longing of love, i.e. your souls, to win them to Christ. So it is Paul was willing to have imparted unto you, not only the gospel of God but also our own souls. This is the deepest kind of love because ye were dear unto us. This is the love that God has for us and wants us to have for one another, just as Paul did.

  • #But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children: I Thessalonians 2:7

The Greek word for cherisheth is Ean which is a conditional particle; in case that provided, etc; often used in connection with other particles to denote indefiniteness or uncertainty. Used with the subjunctive, according to the regular usage of the more ancient and elegant classic writers. such as Hermann and Viger. So Paul is saying our love for you was as indefinite as a nurse is to her children. As we celebrate the first Advent let us remember the love that God has for us in how He nursed the Lord Jesus in the manger keeping Him from all danger. As Mary and Joseph behold and pondered these things. Christmas is more than shopping and buying gifts and loving people enough to tell them that Jesus is the reason for the season. He is that indescribable gift that God gave us on Christmas and we need the world to know it as they magnify Santa Clause, who has nothing to do with Christmas. It is my prayer that you will gather your family around the fireplace and tell them about the love of God and how real it is for us that Jesus who knew no sin was made sin for us so that we could inherit His righteousness. Now we are forgiven and set free from the penalty of sin clothed in the righteousness of Christ.

  • #Nor of men sought we glory neither of you nor yet of others when we might have been burdensome as the apostles of Christ. I Thessalonians 2:6

The Greek word for glory is Dokeo which means praise and worship that belong to the Lord Jesus Christ only. For God will not share His glory with any man so Paul is attesting to the fact that they did not seek out any glory of others when we might have been burdensome as the apostles of Christ. Just as the angels said in the first Advent glory to God in the highest, peace on earth, and goodwill toward men on whom His favor rests. So as we celebrate Christmas this year let us give the greatest gift to others which are saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ who came to this earth as a servant and humbled Himself to death on the Cross. Wherefore God has highly exalted Him and given Him a name that is above every name, that we should bow and call Him Lord to the glory of God.

  • #For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness: I Thessalonians 2:5

The Greek word for cloke is En means in, on, at, by, and with. It is a primary preposition denoting fixed position (in place, time, or state) i.e., A relation of rest. Often used in compounds, with substantially the same import; rarely with verbs of motion, and not to indicate a direction, except elliptically by a separate preposition. Tropically, applied to things not perceived by the senses. So Paul neither at any time used flattering words of or a cloke of covetousness, as God is our witness: What a blessing as we celebrate the first Advent of our Lord Jesus Christ we must speak the truth in love as God above is our witness that we will have to give an account on the day of Judgment. It is my prayer that you will meditate on the scriptures as Isaiah prophesied 700 years in advance of His coming and yet there was no room for the Babe in the Inn. No room for Jesus today as more people are concerned about parties, shopping, and overeating. Let not your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting as the coming of the Lord will be as a thief in the night and many will be caught unawares as they were at His first coming. Be ye also ready, for at such a time as ye think not the Son of Man will appear.

  • #But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so, we speak; not as pleasing men, but God trieth our hearts. I Thessalonians 2:4

This is the first day of Meteorological Winter and it feels like it, so it is as if we were allowed by God to be put in trust with the gospel. The Greek word for trust is Pisteuo which means to believe and to entrust. Thus the Lord God has entrusted us to speak the gospel, not as pleasing men. For we must be ministers in a good report and bad report. Jesus said they hated me and the servant is not greater than the Master so they will hate you. So as we preach we step on toes and others get angry and spread lies or as it is said today misinformation about you to damage your reputation. Jesus made Himself of no reputation but took upon Him the form of a servant and being fashioned as a servant He humbled Himself to death on the cross and God hath highly exalted Him to the right Hand of the Father in heaven. So the cross comes before the crown, thus we must have our hearts trieth by the Holy Spirit. So burn with zeal so when the Lord returns He will find us on fire doing the work that He commanded us to do in the vineyard. Preach the Word in season and out of season. Preach when they want to hear you and when they do not want to hear you. Make full proof of your ministry.

  • #For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile: I Thessalonians 2:3

The Greek word for deceit is Planos which means objectively, fraudulence; subjectively, a straying from orthodoxy or piety or to deceive delude in error. According to Plato a wandering, straying about whereby one led astray from the right way and roams hither and thither. So Paul exhorted the Thessalonians with the truth free from error or deceit or uncleanness nor in guile. Let our hearts rejoice in the Advent of our Lord Jesus Christ in His incarnation became a man so that He could redeem mankind from their sins. For He took upon Himself the form of a servant and humbled Himself to death on the cross. So He goes from the manger to the cross and the empty tomb. We can now have peace on earth and goodwill upon whom His favor stands. So come let us adore Him for He is Christ Jesus the Lord.

  • #For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain: I Thessalonians 2:1

The Greek word for vain is Kenos which means empty apparently a primary word literally or figuratively. Metaphorically devoid of the truth. So Paul tells the brethren ye know our entrance in unto you was not in vain or empty of the truth. For they did not hesitate to preach the whole gospel unto them. They were destitute of the spiritual wealth of one who boasts of his faith as a transcendent possession, yet is without the fruits of faith. James 2:20 But even after that we had suffered before and were shamefully entreated, as ye know at Phillippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention. This is a paradox but it is true and we must be steadfastly unmovable always abounding in the work of the truth as we see the Day of Christ approaching.

  • #And to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come. I Thessalonians 1:10

The Greek word for wrath is Oregomai for anger, resentment, vengeance, i.e. violent passion (ire, or Justifiable); by implication punishment. So the Thessalonians turned to God from idols to wait for His Son, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus. Orego is a short definition to stretch out, reach after, and yearn for. That is what we must do as we long for the coming of the Lord Jesus, not a Babe in the manger, but as the Son of God having salvation with healing in His wings. As we celebrate Christmas and the first Advent they were not ready for Him as there was no room for them in the Inn, and thus He was born in the manger with the shepherds and cattle loeing. We look for the Savior who is risen at the right hand of the Father in heaven to come in the clouds to call us up hither in the Rapture. For this will be the 70th week of Daniel's prophesy in the 70 weeks of years. Jesus said in the Mount Olivet Discourse there would be a time of trouble known as Jacob's trouble a time for the outpouring of God's wrath upon the earth to bring Israel back into a covenant relationship.

  • #For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not speak anything.  I Thessalonians 1:8

There is a genetic link between schizophrenia and Alzheimer's the Interleukin 1 beta gene 511 promoter polymorphism with delusions and hallucinations. So you see we can be schizophrenic people and we must be careful that we are spreading the gospel and not hallucinating with gossip. These Macedonians and Achaians were also in every place with their faith in God spreading the good news abroad, so there was no need for Paul to speak anything. The Greek word for spread abroad is Exerchomai which means to go or come out of. This is what these believers in Macedonia and Achaia had done they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God. That is the link that we need to be saved from the genetic link between schizophrenia and Alzheimer's.

  • #So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia. I Thessalonians 1:7

The Greek word for ensamples is Typos which means typically, a figure formed by a blow or impression; hence universally, a figure or image of the gods according to Josephus. i.e. the teaching which embodies the sum and substance of religion and represents it to the mind, equivalent to the manner of writing, the contents, and the form of a letter. This word is rarely used in the English vernacular today but is used in the Bible in this context so that all believers can compare themselves to the faith that the Macedonians and Achaians had. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God and so if your faith is weak then you need to read the Word of God more. Without faith it is impossible to please God for he that comes to Him must believe that He is and a reward of those that seek Him.
