A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. II Thessalonians 3:2

The Greek word for unreasonable is Atopos which means out of place or strange and amiss. From Topos; out of place, i.e. (figuratively) improper and injurious. Luke 23:41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds but this man hath done nothing amiss. This was what the thief on the cross saith to the Lord Jesus, and then he said Lord when you come into your kingdom remember me. Then Jesus told him this day shalt thou be with Me in paradise. Paul is asking for prayers to be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men because not all men have faith in Jesus. Thank God that He answers those prayers and protects us from such people and we can witness to them by the way we live and win them to Christ. Never feel like you are out of place for God, for just like that thief on the cross, he was at the right place and the right time to see Jesus and be saved.

  • #Finally brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have a free course and be glorified, even as it is with you. II Thessalonians 3:1

The Greek word for a free course is Trecho meaning to run or to run or walk hastily. I Corinthians 9:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. Paul is using this term as a free course and Trecho to tell the brethren that the Christian life is like running a race. So run, that ye may obtain the prize by allowing the word of the Lord to have a free course in their lives. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus who is the Author and finisher of our faith who endured the cross and despised the shame, now He is seated at the right hand of the Father interceding for us.

  • #Comfort your hearts and stablish you in every good word and work. II Thessalonians 2:17

The Greek word for stablish is Sterizo which means to make fast and establish. To turn resolutely in a certain direction and confirm steadfastly. Thus Paul is telling the brethren to comfort themselves and establish their hearts with a good word and work. That is what we are seeking to do with this Blog by trying to comfort those with mental illness into the word of God with good works. Jesus told Paul my grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect with your weakness. Thus Paul learned to boast of his weaknesses. So if you have been diagnosed don't let this be a stigma but rejoice in the Lord always for His grace is sufficient for thee, just as it was for the apostle Paul. Jeremiah 17:5 Thus saith the LORD cursed be the man that trusted in man and maketh flesh his arm and whose heart departeth from Jehovah. Trust in the word of God and put not your confidence in a man whose breath is in his nostrils.

  • #Now our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God, even our Father, which hath loved us and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, II Thessalonians 2:16

The Greek word for consolation is Paraklesis which means a calling to one's aid or encouragement and comfort. II Cor. 8:4 Praying us with much entreaty that we would receive the gift and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. Paul used much consolation and entreaty to minister to the needs of the Church in Thessalonica and in Corinth. He did this with good hope and through the grace of our Lord Jesus. It is a blessing to minister to the saints and give them the everlasting consolation of their salvation in Christ Jesus our Lord. May the Lord use us to encourage the saints as we are facing bank failures the likes of which we have not seen since the great financial crisis of 2008. The Lord told us through Paul to not trust in uncertain riches. Also, godliness with contentment is a great gain. So put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and not your money in the bank. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and the righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.

  • #Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions you have been taught, whether by word or epistle. II Thessalonians 2:15                                                                                                                                             The Greek word for traditions is Paradosis which means a handing down or over. From Paradidomi; transmission, i.e. (concretely) a precept; especially the Jewish traditionary law and ordinance. The act of giving up, the surrender of cities according to Polybius, Josephus, and Aristotle. I Cor. 11:2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. Paul is telling the brethren to stand fast and hold the traditions by keeping the ordinances he delivered to them. We must be careful not to follow vain traditions taught by men, but the Jewish law handed down to us by holy men of God.

  • #Where unto He called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ  II Thessalonians 2:14

The Greek word for gospel is Euangelion which means good news. The same as Euaggelizo; a good message, i.e. The gospel. Good tidings: Lucian and Plutarch. and others. Matthew 26:13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a Memorial of her. So it is like what the woman did in anointing the body of Jesus was a sign of the good news of the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, the same is so of Paul preaching this gospel to the Thessalonians. What an honor to preach the good news and see souls saved for the kingdom of God.

  • #But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth. II Thessalonians 2:13

The Greek word for salvation is Soteria which means deliverance or to save. Feminine of a derivative of Soter as (properly, abstract) a noun; rescue or safety (physically or morally) II Timothy 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. This is why Paul mandated that this epistle be read to all the brethren so that they could be saved from the wrath to come. That is why Paul labored night and day to preach the gospel so others could obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. For we are not only saved in this life but for all eternity that in the ages to come we may see the exceeding riches of His glory for us in the Church.

  • #That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. II Thessalonians 2:12                                                                                                                                                                                The Greek word for damned is Krino which means to judge or decide properly, to distinguish, i.e. Decide (mentally or judicially); by implication, to try and condemn before a judge. And God Almighty will condemn all those who refused to repent of their sins, by accepting the truth. Instead, they had pleasure in unrighteousness. Romans 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. There are some gray areas in the law, and God does not condemn us for esteeming one day over or above another. The scripture is clearly talking about willfully breaking the commandments of God. Revelation 9:21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts. This is why they will be damned because rather than repenting of these sins, they had pleasure in them, so God gave them up for a reprobate mind to do evil and perish for so doing. Romans 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same but have pleasure in them that do them.

  • #And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie. II Thessalonians 2:11

The Greek word for delusion is Plane meaning wandering or error. From the feminine of Planos (as abstractly) objectively, and subjectively, a straying from orthodoxy or piety. to deceive with deceit. II Peter 3:17 Ye, therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. This is what Paul is saying also because all those who will believe the lie of the Antichrist will do so because God will send strong delusion or straying from orthodoxy, that it will be easy for them to believe a lie. We also must beware lest we fall from our own steadfastness, and fall victim to the lies of the wicked. My mother always told me you can tell a liar because if they tell one lie, they will have to tell another one to cover up the previous lie. So listen carefully to people so you will know when they are lying to you so that you will not be deceived.
