Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized and praying, the heaven was opened. And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee, I am well pleased. Luke 3:21,22

Just before John the Baptist was put in prison by Herod the tetrarch being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip's wife and for all the evils which Herod had done, he shut up John in prison. So the Holy Spirit descended in dove form on the Lord Jesus and the voice from heaven of the Heavenly Father saying thou art my beloved Son; in thee, I am well pleased. John did not feel worthy to baptize Jesus, for he said I need to be baptized of thee, but Jesus said suffer all righteousness to be fulfilled. We see that water baptism is important as an outward showing of our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and therefore we must be baptized in keeping with the commandment. This was the beginning of the ministry of the Lord Jesus at the age of thirty.

  • #Whose fan is in His hand and He will thoroughly purge His floor and will gather the wheat into His garner but the chaff He will burn with fire unquenchable. And many other things in His exhortation preached he unto the people. Luke 3:17,18

John the Baptist is a fiery prophet and he tells it like it is, by saying God will bring into His barn by thoroughly purging His floor and will gather the wheat by separating it from the chaff. He will burn with fire unquenchable. This is a warning to all those who are pretenders and not true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. Wheat looks like tares, but after close examination it is distinguished. Make sure your election is sure, for the angels will separate the chaff from the wheat at the end of the age. Pray every day and read the word of God so that you can get closer to the Lord. We have been prodigals at various times in our lives, it is time for the prodigals to come home. Look the harvest is white, pray that the Lord of the harvest will send out workers into His vineyard. Thank God for John the Baptist who told the truth that sets us free.

  • #And as the people were in expectation and all men mused in their hearts of John whether he was the Christ, or not; John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose, He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire. Luke 3:15,16

John the Baptist is answering the people as to whether he was the Christ and said I am not worthy to unloose the latchet of His shoes, He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire. John is being very humble and knows that he is an unworthy servant as all of us are. We are just doing what our Master requires of us to be faithful in His service. We must confess our faults one to another and walk in the Spirit so that we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. May the Lord help us to live for Him in this sin-sick world that needs Jesus. We must remain humble in the service of our Lord and be faithful to Him every day of our lives.

  • #Then came also publicans to be baptized and said unto him, Master, what shall we do? And he said unto them Exact no more than that which is appointed you. Luke 3:12,13

John the Baptist is speaking to what today would be called IRS collectors of tax and telling them to show true repentance, they should not collect more taxes than is required by the tax code. In that day tax collectors were the most hated people because they collected more taxes than they were supposed to. Thank God that Mathew was a tax collector and became a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. This shows us that God is requiring us to render to Ceasar that which is Ceasar's and to render to the Lord, that which is the Lord's. So with the tax season upon us now, let us pay our taxes as the Lord would have us to do, and give to the work of the Lord. For the Lord loves a cheerful giver.

  • #Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth, therefore, fruits worthy of repentance and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father, for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. Luke 3:7,8
John is using the metaphor raising up stones unto Abraham, in his message as a warning that God would turn unto the Gentiles as the wild olive shoot that would engraft them in. The religious leaders were offended that John was using such words to them for repentance. John is preparing the way for the Lord Jesus Christ. This is a blessing to the Gentiles, for the unbelief of the Jews would lead to the salvation of the Gentiles. We are the blessing of the Jews, for this is about to be the beginning of the Church Age in which
God would be baptizing Jews and Gentiles into the Body of Christ. John is a fiery prophet and does not fear who he will offend. That is just the type of preachers that God looks for.

  • #Every valley shall be filled and every mountain and hill shall be brought low and the crooked shall be made straight and the rough ways shall be made smooth, and all flesh shall see the salvation of God. Luke 3:5,6

John is proclaiming the good news of the Messiah and how He will fill every mountain and the hills shall be brought low. Praise God all flesh will see the salvation of God. This is the type of good news that we need to hear in a world filled with darkness. May the light of the Lord shine in your hearts my brothers and sisters in Christ.

  • #Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins; As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make His paths straight. Luke 3:2-4
John the Baptist came preaching the baptism of repentance just like Isaiah the prophet said to Prepare ye the way of the Lord. John is fulfilling his role as the forerunner of the Lord Jesus Christ. What a blessing John was to his family and though he preceeded the Lord in birth six months, he is doing just what God commanded him. Let us be faithful in this generation that we live in too proclaiming the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose the third day for our justification.

  • #And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man. Luke 2:52

Jesus went home to Nazareth and this was the second of the silent time of Jesus from twelve until thirty. He increased in favor with God and with the man. He went about doing good.

  • #Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover. And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the Child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem and Joseph and his mother knew not. And it came to pass, that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them and asking them questions And all that heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. And when they saw Him, they were amazed and His mother said unto Him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And He said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? Luke 2:41,42,43,46,47,48,49

Doctor Luke is the only gospel writer to point out this story of the Lord Jesus as He was twelve, He tarried behind His parents in the temple sitting in the midst of doctors, both hearing them and asking questions while His parents were looking for Him among His kinsfolk and acquaintance. Jesus amazed the doctors with His understanding and the questions that He asked. Once His parents found Him, His mother Mary said to Him why have you dealt with us thus? Your father Joseph was anxiously looking for you sorrowing. Then Jesus replied, did you not know, that I must be about my Father's business? The Heavenly Father must have first place in our lives at all times. That is what Jesus was telling His parents. He was not disobedient but obedient to His Heavenly Father who must have first place. What a lesson for us to learn, that when we take care of our Heavenly Father's business first, then He takes care of ours. As we celebrate the New Year 2018 let us make it our resolution to do our Heavenly Father's business first and He will take care of our business. May the Lord bless you all real good this year with an increase in faith and blessings.

  • #And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own city Nazareth. And the Child grew and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom and the grace of God was upon Him. Luke 2:39,40

Joseph and Mary had fulfilled all things according to the law of the Lord, they then returned to Galilee, to their own city Nazareth, where Nathanael said unto Philip, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? The answer is a resounding yes, for the Lord Jesus went about doing good. This is the first of the silent years about the Lord Jesus, where scripture does not tell us what He did from two until twelve. We know that He worked with His father Joseph as a carpenter and we can be sure that He did many good things. As the Apostle John tells us all the books in the world could not contain all the things that our Lord Jesus did. So He grew and became strong in the spirit filled with wisdom, as the grace of God was upon Him. As we prepare to enter the New Year 2018, let us look to the Lord who can give us a spirit filled with wisdom and grace. So that we may know how to answer those for the hope that is within us. Christ Jesus our hope of glory. As our Lord told us to go into the highways and byways to compel them to enter into His Kingdom. Let us make this a great year to advance the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ so that everyone will have a chance to hear the good news that Christ Jesus died and was buried and rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
