Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #And He spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth, not with the old. And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles and be spilled and the bottles shall perish. But new wine must be put into new bottles and both are preserved. No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new for he saith, the old is better. Luke 5:36-39

Jesus is telling this parable to let the Pharisees know that if any man is in Christ Jesus he is a new creature, for the old man is gone, and all things become new. This is the lesson about the old wine being better than the new wine: once you become an old Christian who walked with the Lord, you gain much more maturity than the new Christians. So the motto is to walk with the Lord until you become old and you will reap the rewards of well done good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord. Parables are meant for those of us in the kingdom to understand, and those without will not understand. So study this parable wisely and let the Holy Spirit open your understanding.

  • #And they said unto Him why do the disciples of John fast often and make prayers and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees, but thine eat and drink? And He said unto them, can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them and then they fast in those days. Luke 5:33-35

Jesus is once again teaching the Pharisees a lesson about fasting, as they questioned why the disciples of John fast often and the Pharisees, but the disciples eat and drink? Jesus is the bridegroom and He is with the disciples, so they do not need to fast, but when He is taken away in the ascension, then they will fast. This is a profound doctrine for even the disciples of John did not know about this, so we are blessed that we can fast now that Jesus is at the right hand of the Father in heaven interceding for us. Do as Daniel did for he prayed three times a day, even with the windows open, so all could hear him praying. God is well pleased with this when we go into our closet in secret to pray, while our Heavenly Father will reward us openly.

  • #But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against His disciples saying why do you eat and drink with publicans and sinners? And Jesus answered them saying that the whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous to repentance but sinners. Luke 5:30-32

Jesus often was questioned by the scribes and Pharisees who were trying to catch Him in a fault. Instead, Jesus turned the table by saying I did not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners. Jesus is the Master Physician and He alone knows who is whole and He is the only one who is whole that did not need a physician. So He sought out all that were sinners since He came to seek and to save the lost.

  • #And after these things, He went forth and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom and He said unto him, Follow Me. Luke 5:27

Jesus is concerned about taxes as He said render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's and render unto God what is God's. Levi was at the tax office when Jesus found him and Jesus said unto him Follow Me, and immediately Levi left all to follow the Lord. This tells us the dedication of Levi to the Lord, for he did not make any excuses why he could not follow Jesus. This should be our attitude to following the Lord today. For many will miss heaven because they would not let go of this world to follow Jesus. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. God is not against us having possessions, but the main thing is that our possessions must not possess us. For the love of money is the root of all evil and many have become shipwreck because of it. Money can be used to advance the Kingdom of God, but if we put money ahead of God, then it becomes an idol which will destroy us. May we be found as faithful as Levi was to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. Go and be baptized in obedience to the gospel and follow Jesus and He will bless you real good.

  • #And immediately he rose up before them and took up whereon he lay and departed to his own house glorifying God. And they were all amazed and they glorified God and were filled with fear, saying we have seen strange things today. Luke 5:25,26                                                               As the man with the palsy who was healed obeyed Jesus and walked to his own house praising God, a praise and worship service broke out as all the people were praising God. They were filled with fear, for they had seen strange things, for the Almighty had done wonderful things and He alone is worthy of our praise. How many of us would break out into praising God after such a healing? Let us give glory to God for He alone is worthy of all our praises.

  • #But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answering said unto them, what reason ye in your hearts? Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say Rise up and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins.(He said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee Arise and take up thy couch and go into thine house. Luke 5:22-24

Jesus is teaching the Pharisees and scribes a lesson about healing. He is Jehovah Rapha and has the power to say to the sick of the palsy Arise take up thy bed and walk. Faith moves the hand of God and if you will believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, He will move on your behalf. So have faith in God and you too will be able to conquer your mountaintop experiences in life. Also, Jesus is the Lamb of God who will offer Himself on the cross for the sins of the world. He alone can forgive sins for this reason. So let us reason together though your sins be a scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved and all your sins will be forgiven.

  • #And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all and followed Him. And it came to pass,  when He was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy; who seeing Jesus fell on his face and besought Him saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And He put forth His hand and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately leprosy departed from him. Luke 5:11-13

The disciples were instantly saved when they left all to follow Jesus. This is the greatest act of faith that we can use to forsake all to follow Jesus. For Jesus said if any man will be my disciple, he must take up his cross, deny himself, and follow me. Faith is what moves the hand of God in our favor. That is why when the man with leprosy encountered Jesus, he said Lord you can make me clean. Jesus immediately recognizes the faith of the man, totally heals him of his leprosy. We must have this same childlike faith to follow Jesus by forsaking this world, denying ourselves, to follow Jesus. As the song says: The Cross before me and the world behind me. Thank the Lord I just received a praise report from a friend's mother who I prayed for is doing much better. This is what it means to follow Jesus in how we treat others. For we must intercede for one another daily. Jesus is our Jehovah Rapha and He is still in the healing ministry at the right Hand of the Father in heaven. We must not feel that because other people we have interceded for were called home to glory, that God did not answer our prayer. There is an illness that God will not heal, for it is appointed unto man once to die. So we all have our appointment with God and to be absent from the body and present with the Lord is much more desirable. As the poem goes:" to dwell in heaven with the saints above will be glory, but to dwell below with the saints I know, well that is another story" that is the way we feel. Yes, heaven is real and we want to go there at our appointed time and then only.

  • #And they beckoned unto the other partners, which were in the other ship that they should come and help them. And they came and filled both the ships so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. Luke 5:7,8

Simon Peter assumed because the ship began to sink that it was because of his being a sinful man, so he kneeled on Jesus' knees saying Depart from me. After seeing James and John, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. Jesus has just taught the disciples an important lesson about fishing, and the object of the catch is always your faith. We must have faith in God to catch men and women for Jesus, as well as obey His every command. He that turns a sinner from the error of his ways shall cover a multitude of sins. So just be faithful in the service of our Lord and you will be successful fishermen of men.

  • #And Simon answering said unto Him, Master, we have toiled all the night and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes and their net brake. Luke 5:5,6

Jesus had told Simon Peter where to cast the net, and so he said we have toiled all night long and caught nothing. Yet Simon Peter and his friends obeyed and they caught so many fish that the net was breaking. Jesus had just rebuked them for leaving the ships unattended, and so they learned a valuable lesson about following the Lord Jesus. How we have learned from the disgraced Olympic doctor who took advantage of 156 girls in his care was sentenced by the Judge to 175 years in prison. We have lost trust in the medical profession all because of one bad apple who turned out to be a pedophile and must now do all we can to see that no more girls are taken advantage of again. Just like the ships were unattended, these girls were unattended with the doctor and great harm has come to them for the rest of their lives. This doctor broke his Hippocratic oath, by molesting the girls and has been stripped of his medical license because of it. We should require that a nurse should be in the room at all times with the doctor so that something so egregious as this will never happen again. Now the girls will have to go through a lifetime of psychological counseling to recover from this incident. May we warn girls to always seek an attendant with them in the future so that they can be protected from pedophiles like this in the future. Another thing is we need to police the Internet of child pornography, as this disgraced doctor had been viewing this reprehensible filth over the Internet which led to his pernicious behavior. As a minister of the gospel, I will do all I can to rid the Internet of this filth.

  • #And it came to pass, that as the people pressed upon Him to hear the word of God, He stood by the lake of Gennesaret And saw two ships standing by the lake but the fishermen were gone out of them and were washing their nets. And He entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the people out of the ship. Luke 5:1-3

Multitudes of people came to hear Jesus teach and so Jesus took advantage of the situation to teach Simon Peter about fishing for men since they were not having success fishing for fish. He knew exactly where the fish were and the people were like sheep without a Shepherd. So Jesus opens the Word of God to expound the scriptures to them. We must see the sheep and feed them the Word of God also. Sheep are the most stupid animals there are and they are defenseless without a shepherd. So Jesus wants to teach the important lesson of not leaving the sheep unattended as they did the ships when they were washing their nets. Every moment is a teaching opportunity and Jesus never failed to take advantage of them. We too must look for opportunities to share the gospel, for the sheep are always looking for food and man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of the Lord. Do not despair if you seem to not be effective, for the Word of the Lord will not return void. The Holy Spirit always sees that it accomplishes just what our Heavenly Father sends it for.
