Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #And it came to pass that as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus said unto him foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of man hath not where to lay His head. Luke 9:57,58

    • Jesus is amazed at the desire of the man to follow Him since he said I will follow you where ever thou goest. This was a sincere desire since Jesus came to do the Father's will not buy houses or land so He told the young man that foxes have holes and birds have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere to lay His head. The young man still wanted to follow Jesus. I wonder how many of us are that sincere in our desire to follow Jesus? we want to live in fine homes and drive the best cars, but following Jesus does not pay a big salary or allow you to live in big beautiful homes. There must be a sincere desire to follow Jesus at all cost not looking back after you put your hand to the plow. This is a remarkable story that teaches us the importance of commitment in our following Jesus and not to complain about what we do not have. Just be thankful for what you do have and follow Jesus at all cost. I have been following Jesus now for fifty years and I am not turning back. The world behind me and the cross before me I will go on until He comes or calls me home. Pray for me as I have been counseling a pastor's wife on the commitment of marriage and following Jesus. It has led to some temptations that I need to stay clear of. Pray that the counseling will remain holy and just. Thank you in advance all of my followers for I do not know where I would be without your prayers.
  • #The Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes and be slain and be raised the third day. And He said to them all if any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it, but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. Luke 9:22-24

    • Jesus is preparing the disciples for the cross and all the suffering that would follow, then He would be buried and the third day rises again. The disciples did not understand these things so Jesus tells them if any man will follow me, he must take up his cross, deny himself daily and follow me. The high cost of being a disciple, for if any man would save his life he would lose it. Yet whoever would lose his life following Jesus would save it. Just remember that you will not be popular for following Christ and this is the high price that we must pay to be a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. It will be worth it all when we see Jesus, for He will say well done good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord. So do not be ashamed of Jesus, for what profit is it to gain the whole world and lose your soul? Jesus said For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when He shall come in His glory and in His Father's and the holy angels. So be faithful and you will be rewarded.
  • #And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide and thence depart. And whosoever will not receive you when ye go out of that city, shake off the dust from your feet for a testimony against them. Luke 9:3-5

    • Jesus has given the disciples the Modis Operandi for how to conduct themselves when they go about preaching the good news of the Kingdom of God. It is amazing that they were not to take anything for the journey, which required total faith in the Lord to provide for their needs. Also, they were not to provide staffs for their protection but were to totally depend on the Lord for their security. As well as they were not to prepare a script for what to say, as the Lord would give them the inspiration as they obeyed Him by faith. Neither were they to take any bread for man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. Nor were they to take money, for our God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus. Nor were they to take two coats since the Lord would give them all that they would require for the journey in one bag. Finally, they were not to worry about those who would not receive the message of the kingdom of God, for if they refused it, then as a testimony against them they were to shake the dust off their feet. Wow what a God we serve who provides for all of our needs and makes all our journeys prosperous according to His grace. And they departed and went through the towns preaching the gospel and healing everywhere. How we modern-day preachers need to take notice of how the disciples obeyed the Lord and were blessed in their ministry where ever the Lord sent them. May we pray for the Lord to increase our faith so that we can be as successful as the disciples were on their journeys through all the towns that they preached in by His grace alone. We need to see more healing ministries today as obedience to the preaching of the gospel. I have been challenged by this text to move by faith and do healing ministry going forward.
  • #Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all devils and to cure diseases. Luke 9:1

Jesus gave the disciples power and authority to cure diseases and cast out devils but He told them not to rejoice over that, the main thing that they were to rejoice over was that their name was written in the Lamb's book of life. That is what we can rejoice over to know that we will only have to die once and then we will be in the presence of the Lord forever. So as Jesus sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick, we too have a mission to occupy until He comes for us, or calls us home. May the Lord bless you, my brothers and sisters, to do this as we obey His very commands to be faithful in the vineyard.

  • #While He yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to Him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. But when Jesus heard it, He answered him saying, Fear not; believe only and she shall be made whole. Luke 8:49-50

    • Jesus when He came to the house He only allowed Peter, James, John, and the father and mother of the child in. All wept but Jesus said weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. The crowd laughed Him to scorn knowing she was dead. Jesus put them all out and took the child by the hand and called, saying Maid, arise. And her spirit came again and she arose straightway and He commanded to give her meat. And her parents were astonished but He charged them that they should tell no man what was done. What a blessing as Jesus gave life to the little girl again, just as He said she was sleeping and the Master simply said Maid arise. Jesus had to call her that way, or everyone in the grave would have risen. What a day that shall be at the first resurrection when Jesus will step out in the clouds and call Come up hither and all those in the grave will arise just like the child did. Those of us who are alive and remain will be changed in a moment and caught up in the clouds to forever be with the Lord. This is the Blessed Hope that we have in Jesus. And we are purified by this and we should be ready for that great getting up morning. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved then you will only have to die once. If you reject Him, then you will be raised in the second resurrection, only to be told I never knew you, depart from me into everlasting darkness in the Lake of fire. This is the second death. There will be weeping and snashing of teeth forever. Our thoughts and prayers go to the families of the students that were killed in the mass shooting in Florida. The hour is coming when all in the grave will hear His voice, those that have done good to the resurrection of eternal life and those that have done evil to the resurrection of damnation.
  • #And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years which had spent all living upon physicians neither could be healed of any, Came behind Him and touched the border of His garment and immediately her issue of blood stanched. Luke 8:43,44

    • Jesus when He was touched by the woman with an issue of blood, immediately the woman was healed and Jesus replied who touched me? the disciples said you are in a crowd of people, but Jesus said virtue has gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hiding, she came trembling falling down before Jesus. Then Jesus said unto her, Daughter, be of good cheer, for thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace. We need that type of faith that moves the hand of God, to just believe by touching the hem of His garment and being made whole. May God increase our faith to believe Him in every situation in life. For doctors do not always know what is wrong with us, so we need to trust Jesus as the Master Physician as this woman did and not try to hide as this woman did but tell it to everyone. As the song goes while thou are touching others, please do not pass me by my Savior. Yes, Jesus is passing by so let us reach out in faith and touch the hem of His garment and watch Him heal us.
  • #And when much people were gathered together and were come to Him out of every city He spake by a parable: A sower went out to sow his seed and as he sowed some fell by the wayside and it was trodden down and the fowls of the air devoured it. And some fell upon a rock and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. And some fell among thorns and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. And other fell on good ground and sprang up and bear fruit a hundredfold. And when he had said these things He cried: he that hat ears to hear, let him hear. Luke 8:4-8

    • The disciples asked Jesus what the parable meant and He said unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to others in parables that seeing they might not see and hearing they might not understand. The seed is the word of God, those by the wayside are they that hear then cometh the devil and taketh away the word of God out of their hearts lest they should believe and be saved. They on the rock are they when they hear receive the word with joy and these have no root which for a while believe and in time of temptation fall away. And that which fell among thorns are they which when they have heard go forth and are choked with the cares and riches and pleasures of this life and bring no fruit to perfection. But that on the good ground are they which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word keep it and bring forth fruit with patience. This is how some bear thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold because they allow the word to produce fruits in their hearts. What a blessing this parable to those of us who preach the word of God, for we are only responsible for the broadcasting of the seed. It is the Holy Spirit that prepares the soil in the heart to accept it. That is why Paul said I plant and Apollos waters, but God gives the increase. We must be faithful in our broadcasting the word and pray as the harvest is white, that the Holy Spirit will send forth more workers into the vineyard to broadcast the seed. May the Lord bless you richly my beloved to do just that.
  • #And it came to pass afterward, that He went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God and the twelve were with Him, And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward and Susanna and many others which ministered unto Him of their substance. Luke 8:1-3

    • These women gave their possessions unto Jesus as He heals them of their deceases and cast out devils of Mary Magdalene. Jesus taught all the glad news of the kingdom of God and what joy would come to this world when He is ruling as well as reigning in the victory. What joy this shall bring to all and we have much to promote as His disciples today. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto thee. May we realize that we are stewards of all that the Lord has given us to be used in His service.
  • #And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon,  I have somewhat to say unto thee, and he said Master say on; there was a certain creditor which had two debtors, the one owed five hundred pence and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me, therefore, which of them will love him most? Simon answered I suppose the one whom he forgave the most. And He said unto him, thou hast rightly judged. Luke 7:40-43

    • Jesus tells this story to the Pharisee Simon who was complaining about Jesus allowing the woman, who was a sinner, which was a modern-day prostitute, who used an alabaster jar to anoint his feet, saying if He were a prophet He would know what kind of a woman this was. Anyway, Jesus asked Simon to judge the creditor who forgave both the debtors who would love him most? Simon judged the one who was forgiven the most. Jesus said he had correctly judged. This creditor is our Heavenly Father who has forgiven us our sins because we could not pay for them. Jesus is the propitiation for our sins when He died on the cross. What the woman did was showing thanksgiving for Jesus being the Savior of the world and she knew that her sins which were many had been forgiven so she did not stop kissing the feet of Jesus and wiping them with her hairs. Simon, whose sins were few has been forgiven but did not anoint the feet of Jesus as this woman did as a sign of her love so he testified to the fact that he loved little. While the woman who had sinned much loved much. We must be careful how we judge people, for as we get ready to celebrate Valentine's Day, we should love much as this woman because Jesus who loved us the most went to the cross to pay our sin debt that we could not pay. So we should love one another and not be judgmental as Simon was of this woman for anointing the feet of Jesus. May God bless us to do just that as I love Jesus because He first loved me. Enjoy the Lord's Day and show some love to your brothers and sisters. Despise, not the day of small things, do small acts of love and kindness. God is well pleased with us when we do that. Do not be offended of Jesus, when people ask why you love so much, just say because God loved me the most for sending His only Son to die on the cross for my sin debt. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • #Then Jesus answering said unto them, go your way and tell John what things ye have seen and heard how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. And blessed is he whosoever shall not be offended in me. Luke 7:22,23

Jesus instructed the disciples of John what to tell him, as John was in prison and feeling discouraged, so Jesus tells all the things He has been doing in fulfillment of prophecy. Then Jesus asked the question: what went ye out into the wilderness to see? Is a reed shaken with the wind? But what went ye out for to see? a prophet? Yea, I say unto you much more than a prophet. This is he of whom it is written, behold, I send my messenger before thy face which shall prepare the way for thee. For I say unto you, among those born of women, there is none greater than John the Baptist, but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. What a compliment Jesus gives John the Baptist and this is just what he needed to lift his spirit. May we seek to be the least in the Kingdom of God.
