Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #There were present at that season some that told him of the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galileans were sinners above all the Galileans because they suffered such things? I tell you, Nay, but except ye repent, ye shall likewise perish. Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay, but except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 13:1-5

    • Jesus is teaching the disciples the importance of repentance and no amount of sin is what brings the wrath of God on sinners. Everyone must repent being saved, for all have sinned and falls short of the glory of God. We should never think that we are better than certain people because we did not commit the type of sin that they committed. All must repent, for God is not a respecter of persons. May we learn from this story how God views sin and not think that white lies are not as serious as pathological liars. Sin is sin and must be repented of to be forgiven. God does not judge as man does, but is just in all that He does. Thank God for the cross, for that is the cost of our sin to be forgiven.
  • #But he that knew not and did commit things worthy of stripes shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required and of whom men have committed much of him they will ask the more. I am come to send fire on the earth and what will I, if it already be kindled? But I have a baptism to be baptized with and how am I straitened till it is accomplished! Luke 12:48-50

    •  Jesus is telling the disciples of the degree of suffering for to whom much is given, then much shall be required. Whosoever commits wrong and knew not shall be beaten with few stripes than the one who knew better. Jesus clearly has the Pharisees in mind, as they were the keepers of the law, yet they were doing wrong trying to crucify Jesus. So they will be beaten with many stripes in the judgment. Whereas the sinners and publicans did not have the law and yet broke it, they will be beaten with few stripes. Nevertheless, Jesus has a baptism that He must be baptized of, in that He was sent to bring a fire of judgment on this earth. Families will be divided, yet the kingdom of God is not divided. So as a follower of Christ you can expect to have trouble in your family serving the Lord for five will be divided into one household. Two against three and three against two. Nevertheless remain faithful to proclaiming the gospel and you will be rewarded in the kingdom of God.
  • #And one of the company said unto Him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me, And He said unto him, Man who made me a judge or a divider over you? And He said unto them, Take heed and beware of covetousness for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. And He spake a parable unto them, saying the ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully and he thought within himself, saying what shall I do because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, this will I do: I will pull down my barns and build greater and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, soul thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink and be merry. But God said unto him, thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God. Luke 12:13-21

    • Jesus tells this parable of the certain rich man so that we will know what God the Father thinks of our earthly riches when we leave Him out, as this rich man did. Instead of building greater barns, he should have given to the poor, for the scripture says whosoever gives to the poor lends to the Lord. Then he should have thanked God for all of his possessions, for everything that we have belongs to God. For we brought nothing out of this world, and it is certain that we will carry nothing with us. Only the souls of those that we win for Christ will be counted for us as a reward on the other side of heaven. So it is that we must not lay up treasure on earth without being rich toward God. Give to the poor, pay your taxes, give to the work of the Lord and you will have treasure in heaven, then the Lord will say well done my good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord.
  • #In the mean-time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people insomuch that they trode one upon another, He began to say unto His disciples first of all, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed, neither hid, that shall not be known. Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in light and that ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. And I say unto you my friends be not afraid of them that kill the body and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear Him which after He hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you Fear him. Luke 12:1-5

    • Jesus is warning the disciples to beware of the false doctrine of the Pharisees and knowing that they were trying to kill Him, He thus said beware of those who kill the body and after that have nothing else they can do. But fear Him who after He kills can cast into Gehenna fire of hell. That is the abode of all the false prophets, for they try to hide their hypocrisy in the closets but there is nothing hid that shall not be revealed. This is a lesson for us to have short accounts with God, for He knows all things and will bring every work into judgment. Jesus is preparing the disciples for the cross and all the suffering that will come as they follow Him. Also, I say unto you, whosoever shall confess me before men, he shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God.But he that denies me before men shall be denied before the angels of God. And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man shall be forgiven him, but whosoever blasphemeth against the Holy Spirit it shall not be forgiven. This is the unpardonable sin. Then He tells them they will be taken to court and synagogues, but not to worry, for the Holy Spirit will tell them what to say in the same hour.
  • #From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, it shall be required of this generation. Woe unto you lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves and them that were entering in ye hindered. Luke 11:51,52

    • The Scribes and the Pharisees began to provoke Jesus to speak of many things laying wait for Him and seeking to catch something out of His mouth that they might accuse Him. That is why Jesus warned them this generation will be held accountable for the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias that their fathers killed. The way of Cain trying to please God with the works of his hands, whereas Abel brought the blood atonement of the first-born lamb, which was received by God and Abel being dead still speaks from heaven. What a testimony this is of the grace of God not by works of righteousness which we have done hath He saved us, but the blood atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ the Lamb slain before the foundations of the world. So we are no greater than our Master, as they persecuted Him, we too will be persecuted. Jesus said in this world we will have tribulation, but be of good cheer for I have overcome the world.
  • #And it came to pass, that, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said unto Him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. And He said unto them, when ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in heaven, so on earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Luke 11:1-4

    • Jesus teaches the disciples the Lord's Prayer, which is found in the synoptic gospels and does not have "Thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever" in this version. Yet it is very powerful for it teaches us that God is our Heavenly Father and is most holy. Then we should always pray for the coming of thy kingdom and thy will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Then we must pray for our daily bread, first for our soul, then for our physical bodies. Then we should pray for God to forgive our sins of commission as well as omission. As well as forgive the debts of others, for if we do not forgive others their debts, neither will our Heavenly Father forgive ours. Then we should pray that we do not enter into temptations that are too great for us to bear, as God has promised not to tempt us with evil and that He would provide a way of escape out of every temptation so that we can bear it.  Finally, we should pray that God delivers us from evil, for we live in an evil world and we must constantly remember to pray for our deliverance, as only God can deliver us from the power of the devil who is the god of this world who devises all kinds of schemes and attacks on us. We should do this prayer every day as our protection from the evil one and the prince of this world the devil. It is very important for us to be persistent in our prayer. As our Heavenly Father loves to give us what is good for us and just as our children are persistent to ask us for what they need, we too should be persistent to ask our Heavenly Father for what we need. For He already knows what we need before we ask, so it pleases Him when we ask in faith. For faith is the key that unlocks the door for our prayers to be answered.
  • #Now it came to pass, as they went, that He entered into a certain village and a certain woman named Martha received Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which sat at Jesus's feet and heard His word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving and came to Him and said, Lord, do thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? Bid her therefore that she help me, And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: but one thing is needful and Mary hath chosen that good part which shall not be taken away from her. Luke 10:38-42

    • Jesus takes time to teach Martha the importance of sitting at the feet of Him, as Mary has chosen. Martha was worried about the house and serving which will be taken away, for we brought nothing into this world and we can take nothing out. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness and all these things will be added. That is what Mary is doing for she knows every word that comes out of the mouth of Jesus must be heeded as food to the soul. Therefore, she has chosen the best part that cannot be taken away. May we learn from this lesson as Mary has learned, that housework and serving take second place to sitting at the feet of Jesus. We need to always have a quiet time with the Lord at His feet every day eating the word of God. For man does not live by bread alone, but by every word from the mouth of God. God bless you my brothers and sisters to do just that as I have done today seated at the feet of Jesus.
  • #But he willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, and who is my neighbor? And Jesus answering said, a certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment and wounded him and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise, a Levite, when he was at that place came and looked on him and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan as he journeyed, came where he was and when he saw him had compassion on him, and went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine and set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence and gave them to the host and said unto him, take care of him and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of this three thinkest thou, was neighbor unto him that fell among thieves? And he said he that showed mercy on him, then said Jesus unto him, Go and do thou likewise. Luke 10:29-37

Jesus is telling the story of the Good Samaritan as he only showed mercy and compassion on the man who fell among thieves. The priest passed him by, perhaps worried about being late for service and the Levite passed him by, perhaps worried about what the law would say if he touched an unclean man. But the Samaritan did not consider anything but jumped into action bound up the man's wounds pouring wine on them. What love, then placing him on his animal. This is true love for it did not discriminate but meditated then moved into action. This is what we have to do to solve the racial problems in this country do not mind what other people say but to make change by loving no matter who is my neighbor. Do not get angry if the wrong color person moves into the neighborhood just show kindness. Also, show kindness to the immigrant by providing a job so he can take care of his family. This is what Jesus wants us to do when He said to do likewise.

  • #And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And He said unto them: I beheld Satan as lightning, fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. Luke 10:17-20

    • Jesus has just given the seventy a praise report and told them He saw Satan as lightning fall from heaven. As Satan was Lucifer the anointing cherub, before his fall from heaven, but he was filled with pride, thus he was kicked out of heaven. So Jesus wants the seventy not to rejoice that they have power over the devils, snakes, and scorpions, but to rejoice that their names are written in heaven. There is no greater reason to rejoice than to know that we have a home in heaven when our time on earth is up. May we too rejoice as they will when we see Jesus in heaven and hear those words well done good and faithful servant enter thou into the joy of the Lord. So we must be careful not to allow pride to come into our lives and cause us to fall from grace. The fallen angels cannot be saved, they know that they are doomed to hellfire for eternity. We can lose our rewards but not our salvation. So run to win, not as one beating the air, but beat thy body into subjection, so that after you have preached to others you do not become a castaway. May the Lord bless us, my brothers and sisters, to be faithful in the service of the Lord interceding for one another. Let us be as faithful as the seventy that were sent out two by two to do what the Lord has commanded us to preach the gospel of the kingdom in all the world until He comes or calls us home.
  • #After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place whither He Himself would come. Therefore said He unto them, the harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray ye, therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that He would send forth laborers into His harvest. Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Luke 10:1-3

    • Jesus has just sent out seventy additional workers into the vineyard and tells the disciples the harvest is great, but the workers are few. Pray ye that the Lord of the harvest, the Holy Spirit, would send out more workers into the vineyard. Then He tells them I send you as lambs among wolves. In the synoptic gospels, He said to be wise as serpents and as harmless as doves. This is the way we respond to the attack of the wolves, for there are many wolves in sheep clothing and we have to be on our guard. I have learned many things in my twenty-six years in the ministry to beware of false friends who say they love you, while they have a stick for your back. We have to be prayerful and careful when dealing with church members many of them are gossips and busybodies. The Holy Spirit will warn you of which ones to beware of for they are the wolves in the congregation sowing discord among the brethren. May the Lord help us to be faithful to walk the strait and narrow pathway that leads to life everlasting for broad is the road that leads to destruction and many there be that are on that road. Counseling is the most difficult task that ministers must do, for we find ourselves caught up in the problems of the people that we counsel. This is a great tragedy that has caused many to leave the ministry, but we have to endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ, for our weapons are not carnal but mighty through God to the removing of strongholds. Therefore, put on the whole armor of Jesus Christ so that you can withstand all the attacks of the devil. The devil can disguise himself as an angel of light and deceive many. These are the wolves to watch out for in the vineyard as we war not against flesh and blood. May the Lord bless you to be faithful my brothers and sisters as we fight the good fight laying hold of eternal life in Jesus Christ.
