Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us, therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded and if, in anything ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal this unto you. Phil. 3:14,15

Paul's goal was to press for the prize of the upward calling of God in Christ Jesus. This is to be the mindset of the believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. For if we are going to be perfect, then we must let this mind of Christ be with us at all times. For Christ thought it not robbery to be the same as God but made Himself of no reputation. He took upon Him the form of a servant and became obedient toward death. Therefore, God hath highly exalted Him and given Him a name that is above all names, that at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that He is Lord to the glory of God.

  • #Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect, but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Phil. 3:12

Paul is concerned that he addresses perfection in the life of the believer. For to will was Paul's way to explain how difficult it was. Perfection is what the scripture tells us on the Sermon on the mount. Jesus told the people to be perfect as our Father in heaven is perfect. Whatever God tells us to do, then by the grace of God then, we can do it in Christ Jesus. We have to allow the Holy Spirit to have full control of our bodies, for us to do that. Then and only then will we be able to live a perfect life.

  • #That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto His death; if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Phil 3:10,11

Paul is desiring to know Christ in the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering at the cross, so that He may attain unto the life of resurrection. What a glorious goal for all of us, for to live is Christ and to die is gain. Therefore it is better to be absent from the body and present with the Lord. It is my prayer that if you are not ready that you would receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior today.

  • #And be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith. Phil. 3:9

Paul is looking at the righteousness that comes by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and not of works lest any man should boast. That is what makes us accepted in the Beloved Lord God.

  • #Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee: Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching righteousness which is in the law, blameless. Phil. 3:4-6

Paul gives his pedigree to prove he has wherefore to trust in the flesh. Yet the more he points out his strengths he realizes that all of that is rubbish. But what things were gain to me, those things I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ. Dung is the lowest word. This is how low he had to go that he might win Christ Jesus the Lord. Praise God for this truth for it tells us that none of our righteousness is good enough to win Christ. It is by faith alone in Christ alone. This is a very special passage in the word of God.

  • #For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit and rejoice in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh. Phil. 3:3

For Paul is identifying with the Jews who worship God in the spirit, rejoices in Jesus Christ and have no trust in the flesh. Paul had a thorn in the flesh, yet he found that the grace of God is sufficient for all of his troubles. Therefore, he rejoiced in tribulation that the power of Christ was on him.

  • #Finally my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe. Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. Phil. 3:1,2

Paul is warning the believers to beware of false teachers who make a sport of you with false doctrine. Therefore rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice forevermore.

  • #Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life to supply your lack of service toward me. Phil. 2:30

Paul is thankful for ALL the suffering that has come because of the cause of Christ.

  • #Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and companion in labor and fellow soldier but your message and he that ministered to my wants. Phil. 2:25

Paul had another faithful brother, Epaphroditus, who was ministering to the wants of the Apostle Paul. Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness and hold such in reputation: because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me. What a faithful servant he was and a shining light for the Lord.

  • #Him, therefore, I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me. But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly. Phil. 2:23,24

Paul is confident that the Lord will allow him to send Timotheus, along with himself which is a great testimony of the faithfulness of the Lord in their lives. Praise God from who all blessings flow praise God for ever more.
