Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #Wherefore the rather, brethren, give the diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall have ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. II Peter 1:10,11

We must give all diligence to make sure of our election. By doing the fruits of the Spirit we manifest that we are the children of God and we shall have an entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. Then we will not stumble over the grace of God. For we are saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We are His workmanship created in the Lord Jesus Christ to do good works. So let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify God.

  • #For if these things are in you and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind and cannot see afar off and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. II Peter1:8,9

Peter is exhorting the believers, that if these virtues of the Spirit be in you and abound, then ye are neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Then he warns that if they are not then he has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. It is so important that we walk in the Spirit, for you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Peter is mindful of his past failures and does not want to repeat the sins of his past so he is, therefore, determined that Christ is exalted in his body by life and in death. He remembers what Jesus told him how he would glorify God in his death and only wants to speed his final days on earth teaching the believers how to walk with the Lord in the light of the day. For he is aware that we must work the works of Christ while it is the day for when the night comes no man can work. Herein is the Father glorified when we bear much fruit, so when the Father prunes us praise God for he wants us to produce much fruit. So brothers and sisters anoint your eyes with eye salve so that you can see and do the work of the Holy Spirit in your life so that ye will neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ so that ye will not stumble on the day of Christ.

  • #And to godliness brotherly kindness and to brotherly kindness charity. II Peter 1:7

Now brotherly kindness and love are fruits of the Spirit that a godly person must have. The ability to forgive and have agape love one for the other. Jesus said a new commandment I give unto you that you love one another as I have loved you. Jesus gave his life on the Cross for you and for me so that we too would lay down our lives for the brethren. Love believes all things, bears all things, hopes all things, and love never fails. Agape love is that unconditional love that comes from the Holy Spirit and is Christ-like. Brothers and sisters love one another and do good to all men, especially those of the household of faith.

  • #And to knowledge temperance and to temperance patience and to patience godliness; II Peter 1:6

Peter tells the believers to add to knowledge temperance, which is self-control and that is a fruit of the Spirit which gives us the strength to say no to temptation. Then we must add to temperance patience, which is a fruit of the Spirit, that allows us to wait on God for answers to prayer. Then we must add to patience godliness, which allows us to live a holy life in the midst of an unholy generation. How we need these three living abundantly in our lives for us to have victory in the Christian life. So take time out of your busy day today and ask God to give these three traits of a Christ-centered life to you and you will understand it better by and by.

  • #And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue and to virtue knowledge; II Peter 1:5

Now going down the spiritual fruit list, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue and virtue knowledge; as faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. We must have a virtuous faith and that full of knowledge. Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore seek wisdom, but above thy getting make sure you have a good understanding. It is therefore impossible to have knowledge without wisdom and understanding is key to knowledge. Read the Bible every day and you will add to your knowledge as well as virtue. Then your faith in God will grow exponentially. My father did a series on wisdom and knowledge from the book of Proverbs and he called it "fortifying the young" and it really blessed me as a young man. I wish we had the whole series on youtube, as it would be a great blessing for this generation. We need knowledge on how to find a vaccine for this coronavirus pandemic that we are facing and we pray for wisdom for the scientist to gain the wisdom and understanding to do just that. Truly God will bless them in due time we must keep the faith.

  • #Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. II Peter 1:4

We are given exceeding great and precious promises, that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, by the power of the Holy Spirit and through it, we have escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. There is three lust in the world: the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. We have self-control by the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome these lust. So love not the world or the things of this world. For the world is passing away with its lust and we are not to have friendship with the world. Whosoever is a friend of this world is an enemy of God. So let us use the divine nature through the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome this world.

  • #Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, According, as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: II Peter 1:1-3

Simon Peter calls himself a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, as one who had obtained precious faith which is through the righteousness of God our Savior Jesus Christ: for faith comes by hearing the word of God which is counted for righteousness. Peace is a by-product of faith through the knowledge of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. We thank God that his divine power has given all things that pertain to life and godliness: as God has called us to glory and virtue: We will study all the benefits of our faith in God and this book is on the virtues that come with being filled with the Spirit.

  • #By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand. The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you and so doth Marcus my son. Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen. I Peter 5:12-14

Peter this book, was written by Silvanus, who was also a preacher with Paul and Timotheus. We see here the church that is at Babylon, was elected and these are Gentile believers. So the fact that Paul was the apostle to the Gentiles, here we see Peter is a mixture of Jews and Gentiles in the church. They are told to greet one another with a kiss of love, just as Paul told the Thessalonians to greet one another with a holy kiss. Today in the coronavirus pandemic, this is not recommended. Nevertheless, we must have sincere love for the brethren and as we see the day of Christ approaching, we must provoke one another to love and good works. That is what Silvanus is writing to this church about and he concludes be at peace with you all that are in Christ Jesus Amen.

  • #Whom, resist sted fast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. I Peter 5:9-11

We must resist the devil and he will flee; we must continually, in the faith do this, knowing that our brethren all over the world are doing the same with afflictions. Yet the God of grace and all peace who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus will comfort you after you have suffered a while, by making you perfect will establish and strengthen you. We must give him all the glory and dominion forever and ever Amen.

  • #Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for He careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: I Peter 5:5-8

Peter is exhorting the believers as younger, to submit yourselves unto the elder and to be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. Then the verse of all verses: humble yourselves, therefore, which refers to the younger, under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt thee in due time: Promotion comes neither from the east or the west, but promotion comes from the Lord. So cast all your care upon Him; for He cares for you. Then he tells the believers to be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour: Jesus plucked the teeth out of the devil's mouth, so he is a toothless lion, that can only roar, he cannot harm us. So we must be on guard at all times looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our salvation.
