A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

#But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom, the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. II Peter 2:1,2
We must be careful to know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Peter is warning the believers of many false prophets that shall come in in sheep clothing, denying the way of the truth. Jesus is the truth and He said if we abide in his commandments, then we would know the truth and the truth would set us free. So study the word of God, so that you will know the truth, and turn away from the error of the false teachers. They will deny the truth, even Jesus who saved them on the cross and you will know them by their fruit. Good fruit does not come from an evil tree and we are called to be fruit inspectors. As the scripture teaches holy men of old gave us the word of God, inspired by the Holy Ghost. So it is imperative that you study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, but rightly divides the way of truth.
#We have also a more sure word of prophecy; hereunto ye do well that ye take heed as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man, but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. II Peter 1:19-21
Thank God that we have a sure word of prophecy and we should take heed as unto a light that shines in a dark place, as Jesus is that sure word as well as the day star that shall arise in your hearts as the day dawns. No prophecy is of any private interpretation, nor did it come by the will of man, but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. So we can be sure of the accuracy of scriptures and the interpretation that comes to us by the power of the Holy Ghost.
#For he received from God the Father honor and glory when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came from heaven we heard when we were with him in the holy mount. II Peter 1:17,18
What a glorious moment that was to be on the mount of transfiguration it was to hear Father God say this is my beloved Son, hear ye him. We must hear him today, as he is speaking to us through his word by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus had just told Peter that on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against her. We are the body of Christ empowered by the Holy Spirit to do his works and let us move in haste to do the works of Christ while there is Day. For great is thy faithfulness morning unto morning as the song says, as his mercy I see, all I have needed, thy hand hath provided. What a blessing we have today brothers and sisters so let us march on to the victory that Jesus has given us on the Cross.
#Moreover I will endeavor that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. II Peter1:15,16
Peter wants the believers to know how to act after his death and keep in remembrance all the virtues of the Spirit that he has taught them. The fact that we have not followed cunningly devised fables, but we made known to you the assurance of the power and coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and were eyewitnesses of his majesty. This is the best motivation to follow Christ that they could receive and they will be without excuse when they stand before the Lord on Judgment day.
#Yea, I think it meets, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. II Peter 1:13,14
Peter is aware that the time of his departure is at hand, as the Lord has told him that when he is old they will take thee where you would not. So he wants to stir up a fervency in the believers to keep in remembrance all the things he has told them. The foundation of the Lord is clear, let all those who love the Lord Jesus depart from iniquity. For we must all stand before the judgment seat of Christ to answer for the things done in the body, good and bad. So let us labor to be accepted before him.
#Wherefore I will not be negligent to put always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them and be established in the present truth. II Peter 1:12
Peter is diligent in his presentation of the truth for these believers and as Jesus said if you abide in my commandment, ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. So yes indeed we must put these truths into practice every day so that we will be set free from error and conjecture. My brothers and sisters walk in the light of the truth of scripture and you will reign in life with the Lord Jesus Christ. As it behooves me to share these facts with you as I am trusting in the Lord to guide me through the perils of life, as I just took a tumble in the bed to the floor about three feet. I trust in my Jehovah Rapha to heal me from this fall, as Satan is trying to silence me, but I must fight on while I am in this tabernacle to keep the faith. I thank God for your prayers and look forward to the day in glory when we all get to heaven, and put off this earthly tabernacle for our celestial house made without hands.
#Wherefore the rather, brethren, give the diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall have ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. II Peter 1:10,11
We must give all diligence to make sure of our election. By doing the fruits of the Spirit we manifest that we are the children of God and we shall have an entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. Then we will not stumble over the grace of God. For we are saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We are His workmanship created in the Lord Jesus Christ to do good works. So let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify God.
#For if these things are in you and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind and cannot see afar off and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. II Peter1:8,9
Peter is exhorting the believers, that if these virtues of the Spirit be in you and abound, then ye are neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Then he warns that if they are not then he has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. It is so important that we walk in the Spirit, for you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Peter is mindful of his past failures and does not want to repeat the sins of his past so he is, therefore, determined that Christ is exalted in his body by life and in death. He remembers what Jesus told him how he would glorify God in his death and only wants to speed his final days on earth teaching the believers how to walk with the Lord in the light of the day. For he is aware that we must work the works of Christ while it is the day for when the night comes no man can work. Herein is the Father glorified when we bear much fruit, so when the Father prunes us praise God for he wants us to produce much fruit. So brothers and sisters anoint your eyes with eye salve so that you can see and do the work of the Holy Spirit in your life so that ye will neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ so that ye will not stumble on the day of Christ.
#And to godliness brotherly kindness and to brotherly kindness charity. II Peter 1:7
Now brotherly kindness and love are fruits of the Spirit that a godly person must have. The ability to forgive and have agape love one for the other. Jesus said a new commandment I give unto you that you love one another as I have loved you. Jesus gave his life on the Cross for you and for me so that we too would lay down our lives for the brethren. Love believes all things, bears all things, hopes all things, and love never fails. Agape love is that unconditional love that comes from the Holy Spirit and is Christ-like. Brothers and sisters love one another and do good to all men, especially those of the household of faith.
#And to knowledge temperance and to temperance patience and to patience godliness; II Peter 1:6
Peter tells the believers to add to knowledge temperance, which is self-control and that is a fruit of the Spirit which gives us the strength to say no to temptation. Then we must add to temperance patience, which is a fruit of the Spirit, that allows us to wait on God for answers to prayer. Then we must add to patience godliness, which allows us to live a holy life in the midst of an unholy generation. How we need these three living abundantly in our lives for us to have victory in the Christian life. So take time out of your busy day today and ask God to give these three traits of a Christ-centered life to you and you will understand it better by and by.
