A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

#As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight and his fruit was sweet to my taste. Song of Solomon 2:3
Climate change has caused the loss of many fruit trees in Texas due to the deep freeze and I lost of my fruit trees with all the sweet fruit to my taste as a result. It is time that we get serious about planting more trees to counter carbon emissions in the atmosphere. My father-in-law was a hortorculteralist and he planted banana trees, orange trees, and grapefruit trees and they all have perished due to the changing climate. This passage speaks of how much we need fruit trees to maintain strong marriages and with the loss of these fruit trees, I have seen the separation of my marriage relationship. What shall we do? Well, I will praise the Lord for we are fearfully and wonderfully made and climate change is part of the curse of sin that Jesus will reverse when He comes again to establish His kingdom. In heaven, there will be the tree of life bearing twelve types of fruit that will be sweet to taste and God will wipe away all our tears for the former things will be passed away. There will be no more marriage for we will be like the Angels. So let us do the works of the Lord by going into the highways and byways to compel them to accept Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior. Then we will have the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, self-control, and meekness. These will be the fruits of the Spirit that we will enjoy and restored relationships.
#I am the rose of Sharon and the Lily of the valleys. As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters. Song of Solomon 2:1,2
Sharon was a fruitful valley and a lily among the valleys speaks of the Lord Jesus Christ being the rose of Sharon when He comes to establish His Kingdom will cause the desert to blossom like the rose. Herein is the Father glorified when we bear much fruit. Jesus is the Vine and we are the branches, and He has to prune us to get us to produce much fruit. I have suffered the loss of my palm tree and my grapefruit trees due to the deep freeze that hit Texas. Now I am in sorrow now for the loss of grapefruit that I was enjoying eating right up until the freeze. So it is when we do not bear fruit the Father prunes us so that we can bear more fruit and if pruning does not work He cast us in the fire. I will thank the Lord for the six years that I was able to enjoy eating grapefruit and I remember my late father-in-law who planted the grapefruit tree 24 years ago. He said to plant a tree and sow a memory. We will all stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ where we will receive our rewards for our good works whether they be good or bad. So it behooves us to submit to the pruning of the Lord Jesus Christ so that we will bear much fruit. As beautiful as the rose bush is we have to watch out for the thorns, so the Lord loves all of His children all the same.
#Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea pleasant: also our bed is green. The beams of our house are cedar and our rafters of fir. Song of Solomon 1:16,17
The Shulamite bride is admiring Solomon, her beloved who is pleasant and the marriage bed is green. The beams of our house are cedar and the rafters of fir. Jesus told the parable of the wise man and the foolish man who built a house on the sand; the winds came, and the rains descended upon the house, then it fell. The wise man built his house on the Rock, which is Jesus Christ, the rains came, the floods descended, and the house stood. We must build our homes on the Lord Jesus Christ and when the winds, rains, and floods of adversity come they will be as strong as the cedar and as rafters of fir will hold the house together. Marriage is honorable in all and the bed holy, but fornicators and adulterers shall be judged. If you have failed in your marriage it is not too late to call out to Jesus who said if you call upon me in the day of trouble and I will rescue you, then you shall glorify Me.
#My beloved is unto me as a cluster of camphire in the vineyards of Engedi. Behold, thou art fair, my love, behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves eyes. Song of Solomon 1:14,15
This is a term of endearment. The Shulamite bride is in love with Solomon for he is the wisest of men in all the world and is handsome. His eyes are like the doves which is a sign of strength and security. His father said Oh that I had the wings of a dove and I would fly far away. Doves are used for many things, as Jesus was being baptized in the Jordon River, a dove descended upon Him as the Holy Spirit. Then the Heavenly Father said this is my Son in whom I am well pleased. Marriage is to be a sacred sacrament of the Church since it is the bride of Christ and must be holy in all that she does. We are members of His body and Christ commended His love for us in that while we were sinners, Christ died for us. Therefore we as husbands must love our wives as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for her on the Cross.
#A bundle of myrrh is my well-beloved unto me; he shall lie all night betwixt my breast. Song of Solomon 1:13
The Shulamite bride has likened Solomon to myrrh which is the sweetest of fragrances and is symbolic of the Lord Jesus Christ who was given myrrh by the wise men at His birth. Marriage is a lovely thing when the husband can be myrrh to his beloved sleeping between her breast. This is what Paul meant in I Cor. 7 that the wife should render due benevolence to her husband and the husband should render due benevolence to his wife. When marriage is done this way eros is experienced and the relationship is strengthened. When a marriage is in trouble much of it is because eros is not being practiced in the bedroom. Paul told marriage partners to not defraud the other except by consent, so that through prayer and fasting you may get closer to the Lord Jesus Christ, then you must come together after a season so that you will not be tempted. Eros in marriage is a must for procreation and recreation.
#We will make thee borders of gold with studs of silver. While the king sitteth at his table, my spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof. Song of Solomon 1:11,12
As we celebrate Earth Day let us continue to fight for climate change. As Solomon sits at the table with spikenard sending the smell thereof, it reminds us of Jesus just before His crucifixion had Mary pour all her spikenard upon Him. This is the great love story of Christ for the Church as this deed will always be spoken of wherever this gospel is preached. So let someone know that Jesus wants us to do our part to preserve this earth and protect it from the carbon pollution that is destroying the climate. With all the natural disasters that are taking place, it is time that we prove to be good Christians by stopping those from polluting the earth. Let us smell the roses and inspire others to be our brothers' keepers by saving the earth from climate change.
#I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh's chariots. Thy cheeks are comely with the rows of jewels, thy neck with chains of gold. Song of Solomon 1:9,10
Solomon compares the Shulamite bride, his love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh's chariots. This speaks of what strength she has and she is swift in battle with beautiful cheeks. She has rows of jewels around her neck with chains of gold. This is the manifest destiny that she has and Solomon is blessed to have the most valuable of brides. This speaks of the Church as the Bride of Christ, as He has decks us with cheeks of jewels and covered us with gold. The blood of Jesus is more valuable than gold and more precious than silver nothing can compare to His love for us as His Bride. He is in heaven preparing a place for us where we will be victorious over our enemies. When Jesus returns as King of Kings and Lord of lords, He will be riding a white horse and we will be on horses also to reclaim the title deed of this earth, that Adam had surrendered to Satan. What a glorious day this shall be when my Jesus I shall see, who has saved me from my enemies and will rule in the kingdom of God forevermore.
#Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions? If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock and feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents. Song of Solomon 1:7,8
Solomon is so in love with the Shulamite bride that he wants to know where she feeds her flock so that he will not have to go after her companions. He tells her to go thy way by the footsteps of the flock and feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents. Looks like she is his leading wife and he does not want competition with her other companions. Polygamy is practiced and God winked at this. Paul in his epistle to the Corinthians told them to let every man have his own wife which is monogamy. So as you read the Song of Solomon keep in mind that Solomon though he was the wisest man to live, was not indwelt by the Holy Spirit as we are today so these things are written for our learning so that we can allow the Spirit to guide us in our marriages in a monogamous way. We can learn that husbands love their wives as Christ loves the Church and gave himself for her. Feed your wife the Word of God so that she can be holy and undefiled in the bedroom.
#Look not upon me because I am black because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards but mine own vineyard has I not kept. Song of Solomon 1:6
The Shulamite bride is black because of the suntanned her and her siblings are angry at her so they made her the keeper of the vineyards. She in response was not able to keep her own vineyard. So you wonder if the siblings were angry because she was black, why did they not get suntanned also? Today suntanning is still practiced and many get skin cancer as a result of this, so make sure you are using sunscreen lotion, and do not overexpose yourself to the ultraviolet rays of the sun. It is amazing how up-to-date the Bible is and this is why I love to study the word of God, for it is a lamp unto my way and alight upon my pathway.
#I am black but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon. Song of Solomon 1:5
The Song of Solomon is like a drama: the bride, the Shulamite, the King, and the daughters of Jerusalem. Israel is the Bride of God the Father and the Shulamite is the bride of King Solomon, who is a type of Christ and the church. The Shulamite is black and beautiful and a decedent of the Arabians, who were of the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon. This is a love story about marriage and there are three loves needed in marriage: Agape, which is unconditional love, Phileo, which is friendship, and Eros, which is romantic. Solomon loves this Shulamite bride unconditionally and she is his best friend. They have great romance in marriage. If all marriages had these types of love in them there would be fewer divorces. I pray as we go through this Song of Songs, which is the Latin term for this book, that marriages will be strengthened. The Bible is written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin so it is good to know these languages to appreciate the Song of Solomon.
