A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel. Acts 12:15

Mental illness has been a problem since the first Christians were accused of being mad. It is amazing that the saints did not believe Rhoda was telling the truth. So it is with those with paranoid schizophrenia and they tell her it is his angel assuming he has been killed by Herod just as James was. We must believe when we pray that God answers our prayers, even though He allows some of us to be killed for the gospel's sake, as James was. However, God had a plan for Peter so he was delivered. Paranoia is a sign of mental illness, and if you are hearing voices you should seek mental health professionals. As I have heard voices and I am being treated for mental illness. Thank God for the professionals who prescribe medication to treat the chemical imbalance in the brain that is causing those voices. Yet what Rhoda has heard is not mental illness, for she knows Peter is knocking at the gate door and she is not mad. The stigma of being mentally ill was bad before the pandemic, but now more people are suffering from mental health. Thus it is no longer a stigma to have mental illness and I thank God that more people are being treated for their mental illness. Angels do not knock on the door and this is real that Peter is alive and well thank God for his deliverance.

  • #And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in and told how Peter stood before the gate. Act 12:14

Rhoda knew it was Peter at the door, for she knew his voice. Yet she opened not the gate for gladness of heart, but ran in and told how Peter stood before the gate. It is amazing how when we pray for deliverance we are surprised when the Lord delivers those we are praying for. I was working in Houston, Texas as a Service Technician and in a storm, not knowing a tree was about to fall on my Van. Miraculously it missed me. I visited my parents' home for lunch, and my father told me he had been praying for me, and then I understood why the tree missed my Van. I thanked God for a praying Pastor as a Dad for me. Peter was delivered too because of the church praying for him. Rhoda is acting normal because she did not want to scare the saints that had been praying for Peter. We can learn a lot about how to act when God moves in our favor. Let us rejoice in the Lord always, and again rejoice for God saves those who pray to Him. Give God the glory and tell the story of how He delivers us to the uttermost.

  • #And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered toghether praying. And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda. Acts 12:12,13

Now Peter is sure that the Lord has delivered him and he comes to the house of Mary, the mother of John Mark. And they were all praying so he knocked on the door and a damsel named Rhoda answered the door. She was surprised to see Peter, which was an answer to the prayer. We too must continue to pray as this Omicron variant is spreading rapidly and many are ill, yet not as many are dying as with the variant Delta. Let us pray that God will turn this pandemic into an endemic where we can learn to live with it like the flu. I thank God that He has delivered many of us from this pandemic as God delivers some by death as well as life like Peter. For to live is Christ and to die is gain.

  • #And when Peter has come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent His angel and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews. Acts 12:11

Peter is now fully awake and he knows that the Lord Jesus Christ sent His angel to deliver him out of prison from the hands of Herod. What a mighty God we sarve and we have great salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. Our prayers are for people who are being persecuted for their faith, as the Jews were persecuting Peter for preaching the gospel to the Gentiles. I thank God that whosoever believes in the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved. God loves all people Jews and Gentiles so we must preach the good news to everyone the Holy Spirit brings unto us. I pray for President Joe Biden that Congress will pass the John Lewis voting rights act. As we prepare to celebrate the MLK Holiday, let us work to preach the good news that Jesus saves and blessed are those who die in the Lord for the labor follows them.

  • #When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord and they went out and passed on through one street and forthwith the angel departed from him. Acts 12:10

Once Peter and the angel of the Lord had passed the first and second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leads into the city, it opened to them on its own accord and they went out through one street forthwith, then the angel departed from him. Now Peter is convinced this is not a vision, but that the Lord had indeed sent His angel to deliver him. What a blessing this is to the church as we battle this coronavirus pandemic, knowing that God is able to deliver us the same way He delivered Peter when the church prayed for him without ceasing. This shows us the power of prayer and we must always pray and faint not. So stop being worried about the stock and housing market, just pray to God to keep us in the midst of these perilous days that we are living in.

  • #And behold, the angel of the Lord said unto him, Gird thyself and bind on thy sandals. And so he did, And he said unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. And he went out, and followed him, and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel, but thought he saw a vision. Acts 12:8,9

What a blessing as the angel of the Lord tells Peter to Gird thyself and bind on thy sandals. Also to put on thy garment about thee and follow me. We can wonder if Peter was fully awake because he did not know that the angel of the Lord had delivered him, but thought he saw a vision. I thank God that we have an angel that watches over us and they keep us from harm. How many times I have been saved by the angel of the Lord. Once I was in an accident in a rainstorm and the tire blew out on the freeway while the van did a 360 then I prayed to the Lord to let me make it to the other side. Miraculously I made it. I know it had to be the angel of the Lord that kept the big tractor trailer truck from hitting me. God is good and he saves to the uttermost those that call on Him.

  • #And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains and the keepers before the door kept the prison. And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him and a light shined in the prison and he smote Peter on the side and raised him up, saying Arise up quickly. Acts 12:6,7

While Peter was sound asleep, God sent the angel of the Lord to smite Peter on the head to wake him up between the two soldiers in the prison. This was done as the light shone about the angel so that Peter would know he was not dreaming. In answer to prayer to demonstrate the power of Jehovah God. Thank God that the angel of the Lord surrounds those that fear Him. We serve a mighty God and He is able to save to the uttermost those that call on Him for salvation. So if you are lost in your sins, pray the sinner's prayer: Lord be merciful to me a sinner. Then the Lord will save and deliver you.

  • #Peter, therefore, was kept in prison but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for Him. Acts 12:5

Pray without ceasing and you will see what amazing things God will do on your behalf just as the church was doing for Peter. God can still send an angel to intervene in our affairs. We are told to be careful to entertain strangers, for some have entertained angels unawares. We are tempted to despair when we pray, but God will take care of us. I have health issues and God has been very faithful to me. The world lost an icon Sidney Poitier who was one of the greatest actors in Hollywood. God opened many doors for him through the prayers of a godly mother. I am thankful for all the prayers of a godly mother and grandmother, as well as my father. I have been saved from many dangers by their prayers. I am looking forward to seeing Jesus in the epiphany when He calls the church home to be with Him forever. He told us: let not your hearts be troubled, believe in God, and also in Me. In my Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so I would have told you, for I go to prepare a place for you, then when I come again I will receive you unto Me, so that where I am, there ye shall be also. John 14:1-3 We are pilgrims and strangers in this world so keep your eyes on Jesus, for He will soon shout: Come up hither!!!

  • #And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. Acts 12:4

There were sixteen soldiers who kept watch over Peter and they were intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. This is the only time that Easter is used in the Bible. We can deduce that Herod was trying to appease the people during the Passover. Thank God that the church was praying for Peter and God heard their prayers. We too must pray for our brothers and sisters to be saved from this pandemic that we are in the midst of. I thank God that my sister has finally received the vaccine, as we had been praying for her to receive it. It is time that the church stops politicizing the vaccines, as though it is a lack of faith to trust God to keep us in this pandemic. Jesus did not condemn the woman with the issue of blood for going to the doctors; rather He commended her faith when she touched the hem of His garment. We walk by faith whether we receive the vaccine or not God is able to keep us. So do not criticize those who use their liberty in Christ to receive a vaccine and a booster shot. May the Lord allow us to have deliverance from this pandemic.

  • #Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. Acts 12:1,2

It was about 41AD and Herod Agrippa, the grandson of Herod the Great who had beheaded John the Baptist, had stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John, with the sword at the time of unleavened bread. The church was praying for Peter who was put in prison, chained between two prison guards. So this was very perplexing how despite all the persecution of the church, many were being saved. God delivers some in death, as He allowed James to be killed with the sword, and immediately he was absent from the body, then present with the Lord. Jesus told the disciples not to fear those who would destroy the body, but fear God who can destroy body and soul in the Lake of Fire. So we too have to expect persecution for all those who live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. All those who are faithful unto death will receive the crown of life, at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
