Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #And behold, the angel of the Lord said unto him, Gird thyself and bind on thy sandals. And so he did, And he said unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. And he went out, and followed him, and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel, but thought he saw a vision. Acts 12:8,9

What a blessing as the angel of the Lord tells Peter to Gird thyself and bind on thy sandals. Also to put on thy garment about thee and follow me. We can wonder if Peter was fully awake because he did not know that the angel of the Lord had delivered him, but thought he saw a vision. I thank God that we have an angel that watches over us and they keep us from harm. How many times I have been saved by the angel of the Lord. Once I was in an accident in a rainstorm and the tire blew out on the freeway while the van did a 360 then I prayed to the Lord to let me make it to the other side. Miraculously I made it. I know it had to be the angel of the Lord that kept the big tractor trailer truck from hitting me. God is good and he saves to the uttermost those that call on Him.

  • #And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains and the keepers before the door kept the prison. And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him and a light shined in the prison and he smote Peter on the side and raised him up, saying Arise up quickly. Acts 12:6,7

While Peter was sound asleep, God sent the angel of the Lord to smite Peter on the head to wake him up between the two soldiers in the prison. This was done as the light shone about the angel so that Peter would know he was not dreaming. In answer to prayer to demonstrate the power of Jehovah God. Thank God that the angel of the Lord surrounds those that fear Him. We serve a mighty God and He is able to save to the uttermost those that call on Him for salvation. So if you are lost in your sins, pray the sinner's prayer: Lord be merciful to me a sinner. Then the Lord will save and deliver you.

  • #Peter, therefore, was kept in prison but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for Him. Acts 12:5

Pray without ceasing and you will see what amazing things God will do on your behalf just as the church was doing for Peter. God can still send an angel to intervene in our affairs. We are told to be careful to entertain strangers, for some have entertained angels unawares. We are tempted to despair when we pray, but God will take care of us. I have health issues and God has been very faithful to me. The world lost an icon Sidney Poitier who was one of the greatest actors in Hollywood. God opened many doors for him through the prayers of a godly mother. I am thankful for all the prayers of a godly mother and grandmother, as well as my father. I have been saved from many dangers by their prayers. I am looking forward to seeing Jesus in the epiphany when He calls the church home to be with Him forever. He told us: let not your hearts be troubled, believe in God, and also in Me. In my Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so I would have told you, for I go to prepare a place for you, then when I come again I will receive you unto Me, so that where I am, there ye shall be also. John 14:1-3 We are pilgrims and strangers in this world so keep your eyes on Jesus, for He will soon shout: Come up hither!!!

  • #And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. Acts 12:4

There were sixteen soldiers who kept watch over Peter and they were intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. This is the only time that Easter is used in the Bible. We can deduce that Herod was trying to appease the people during the Passover. Thank God that the church was praying for Peter and God heard their prayers. We too must pray for our brothers and sisters to be saved from this pandemic that we are in the midst of. I thank God that my sister has finally received the vaccine, as we had been praying for her to receive it. It is time that the church stops politicizing the vaccines, as though it is a lack of faith to trust God to keep us in this pandemic. Jesus did not condemn the woman with the issue of blood for going to the doctors; rather He commended her faith when she touched the hem of His garment. We walk by faith whether we receive the vaccine or not God is able to keep us. So do not criticize those who use their liberty in Christ to receive a vaccine and a booster shot. May the Lord allow us to have deliverance from this pandemic.

  • #Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. Acts 12:1,2

It was about 41AD and Herod Agrippa, the grandson of Herod the Great who had beheaded John the Baptist, had stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John, with the sword at the time of unleavened bread. The church was praying for Peter who was put in prison, chained between two prison guards. So this was very perplexing how despite all the persecution of the church, many were being saved. God delivers some in death, as He allowed James to be killed with the sword, and immediately he was absent from the body, then present with the Lord. Jesus told the disciples not to fear those who would destroy the body, but fear God who can destroy body and soul in the Lake of Fire. So we too have to expect persecution for all those who live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. All those who are faithful unto death will receive the crown of life, at the Judgment Seat of Christ.

  • #Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea: Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul. Acts 11:29, 30

The church in Jerusalem sent Barnabas and Saul to distribute funds that were raised by the Gentiles to the poor Jews suffering from the famine. This shows the love that the church had for their brethren and the apostle John said if you see your brethren in need, don't just pray for them, but give them those things that they need. This is the test of our Christianity that we help and do good to all men; especially those of the household of God. This is a great lesson to us today in this pandemic and many families are in need of help and each of us should give to every man that has a need according to his or her ability. Now our yay should be yay and our nay should be nay. There are some sisters and brothers who are wasting their money on things that are not needed. This we have to show spiritual discernment to know a need from greeds. I counsel brothers and sisters Pro Bono to help them with their taxes for these reasons.

  • #And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch. And there stood up one of them named Agabus and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar. Acts 11:27,28

We thank God for the prophets that came from Jerusalem unto Antioch, and warned about the famine that would come throughout the world. Agabus was one of them and he warned the Christians at Antioch what they were to do to supply the needs of the brethren through all the world. We are facing the coronavirus pandemic, for now two years and many have died from the virus. Yet we still must be vigilant in the midst of this pandemic and still warn others to get their vaccines and booster shots so that we can overcome this virus. Ministers need to preach the whole counsel of God and encourage those who are hesitant to take the vaccine to take it. For God has not given us the Spirit of fear, but of power, love, and of a sound mind. God gives doctors and scientists the wisdom to develop these vaccines to save our lives. Thank God for the generation in the 1950s was courageous to take the Polio vaccine and wipe it off the face of the earth. We can do the same to the coronavirus if we will do the same.

  • #Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul: And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church and taught many people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. Acts 11:25,26

The church at Jerusalem sent for Barnabas and he went to Tarsus to seek for Saul to inspire the Church where they were called Christians first in Antioch. Saul who would be called Paul would become the apostle to the Gentiles. For it was the will of God to baptize Jews and Gentiles into the Body of Christ. I thank God for that because now we are a part of the body of Christ. This New Year let us continue to spread the good news of Jesus Christ so that many souls will be added into the kingdom.

  • #And the hand of the Lord was with them and a great number believed, and turned to the Lord. Acts 11:21

And some of them were men of Cypress and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus. As Jews and Gentiles were turning to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem and they sent Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch. Who, when he came and had seen the grace of God, was glad and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • #Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen traveled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only. Acts 11:19

Dr. Luke resumes the narration of Acts 8, after the persecution of Stephen they traveled to the rich cities of Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch preaching the word only to the Jews. God is no respecter of persons and He is going to use Paul to break up this discrimination. Similar to the reconstruction in America after the Civil war, the churches were divided into the white church and the black church. This sadly is still being practiced today. If we are going to the same heaven, then we had better learn how to worship God in the same church. Thank God for Billy Graham who was instrumental in breaking up segregation at his evangelistic crusades. We must continue to fight segregation in the churches today in the New Year 2022. Let us make a resolution to worship God where ever the Spirit of God tells us to go to the glory of God the Father.
