A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

#But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way and from the violence that is in their hands. Jonah 3:8
The Hebrew word for violence is Chamas which means cruelty and oppression. Genesis 6:11 The earth also was corrupt before God and the earth was filled with violence. This is how the Ninevites were and why God was about to destroy them as he did the antediluvian generation, and we see the great Love and mercy of God for sending Jonah to preach this message of judgment. Jesus said that just before his second coming the earth will be as it was in the days of Noah. Thank God that these Ninevites repented from man to beast covered in sackcloth and crying mightily to God. Let us pray for America to turn from this gun violence and cry to the Lord for mercy to be saved from the judgment to come just like the Ninevites did. Jesus is the ark of safety and we can find mercy and forgiveness through his shed blood on the cross. Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
#And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not feed, nor drink water; Jonah 3:7
#For word came unto the king of Nineveh and he arose from his throne and he laid his robe from him and covered himself with sackcloth and sat in ashes. Jonah 3:6
The Hebrew word for sackcloth is Shaqaq; i.e.Coarse loose cloth or sacking (used in mourning and for bagging) This shows the humility of the king and his repentance. God is pleased with the remorsefulness and is going to forgive their sins. 2 Cor. 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of but the sorrow of the world worketh death. O that America would repent and return to the God of our fathers then families can be restored and God will heal our land. Matt. 3:8 Bring forth, therefore, fruits meet for repentance: Hebrews 12:28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: This is what the Ninevites have done at the preaching of Jonah and now the Lord who is preaching to us is calling for us to do the same.
#So the people of Nineveh believed God and proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. Jonah 3:5
The Hebrew word for fast is Tsom. I do intermittent fasting to control my diabetes and weight. Fasting is a sign of penitence and God is pleased when we fast. Hebrews 11:6 He that comes to God must believe that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him, for without faith it is impossible to please God. So the people believed God and their faith was counted to them as righteousness.
#And Jonah began to enter the city in a day's journey and he cried and said, "Yet forty days and Ninevah shall be overthrown."Jonah 3:4
The Hebrew word for overthrown is Haphak which means to turn about 2 Kings 21:13 And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria and the plummet of the house of Ahab and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down. This is how the Ninevites felt. This will lead to the greatest repentance in the history of mankind. These are the eight most powerful words ever preached. Jonah has taught us how to preach a powerful sermon using a few words. The shortest sermons are the best ones
#So Jonah arose and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days journey. Jonah 3:3
The Hebrew word for the journey is Halak meaning a walk, i.e. A passage or a distance. So Jonah is ready to take that walk to Nineveh according to the word of Jehovah. Hebrews 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. What a blessing for Jonah is making haste to take that journey; we too should do the same, for we must say yes to the promise of God. The Lord just blessed me to win $100 at the PCH sweepstakes to fulfill His promise to provide for all our needs. He does this according to the glorious riches of Christ Jesus
#And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying, Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. Jonah 3:1,2
The Hebrew word for second is Sheni meaning another time again, i.e. double. Thank God He gives Jonah a second time to do the preaching that was bidden thee. We too are blessed because of that; now let us make haste to preach the gospel to the whole world while it is day, for when the night comes no man can work. Colossians 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
#And the LORD spake unto the fish and it vomited out Jonah upon dry land. Jonah 2:10
The Hebrew word for vomit is Qo which means to spue out. Leviticus 18:28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you. This tells us how patient Jehovah God is with Jonah to give him a second chance by ordering that fish to spue him out on dry land, as the Torah tells us what He did to the pagan nations that did not obey His commands. Romans 15:5 Now the God of patience and consolation grants you to be like-minded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: we too must be kind, tender-hearted and forgiving as God for Christ's sake is toward usward.
#But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD. Jonah 2:9
The Hebrew word for vowed is Nadar which means to promise to do or give something to God. II Samuel 15:8 For thy servant vowed a vow while I abode at Geshur in Syria, saying, if the LORD shall bring me again indeed to Jerusalem, then I will serve the LORD. Just as King David has made his Nadar to Jehovah God Jonah has too and with the voice of thanksgiving saying that Salvation only is of Jehovah. Therefore we too must pay the vows that we have made to our spouses and forsake all others and love them in sickness, poverty as well as health. Eccl. 5:2 Be not rash with thy mouth and let not thine heart be hasty to utter anything before God: for God is in heaven and thou upon earth; therefore let thy words be few
#They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. Jonah 2:8
The Hebrew word for vanities is Habel which means transitory we heard a lot about this from the Fed. Eccl. 1;2 Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher, vanity of vanities all is vanity. Never lie to God and keep your vows; this is the lesson Jonah has learned. We all stand in need of mercy so ask for forgiveness
