A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; 2 Peter 2:4

The Greek word for chains of darkness; is Zophos meaning deep gloom. Akin to the base of Nephos; gloom, blackness, (as shrouding like a cloud) a mist. Hebrews 12:18 For ye have not come unto the mount that might be touched and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, The angels that sinned with Lucifer, Satan, were cast into a place we call Tartarous, which is these chains of darkness and gloom of hell. There will be some released in the great tribulation. One such is Apollyon in Greek for a destroyer and the angel of the abyss. Satan will be thrown into the abyss in the Millennium falling for 1000 years, until he will be released to deceive the nations for a short period. Then he will be cast into the lake of Fire, with the antichrist and false prophet forever. Fallen angels are called demons and one-third of the angels that rebelled against God are with Satan and they will all perish in the lake of fire called hell. Mankind is the only one of God's creation that Jesus came to save by dying on the cross for our sins. The angels look upon this with amazement.

  • #And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingerth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. 2 Peter 2:3

The Greek word for feigned is Plastos meaning formed and molded. From Plasso; molded, i.e. (by implication) artificial or (figuratively) fictitious (false) Properly molded, formed as from clay, wax, or stone (Hesiod, Plato, Aristotle, Plutarch, and others used these words. We are seeing this manifested in our day, as Artificial intelligence is able to use these feigned words to guide people. We must research the truth and buy it and not sell it. For no truth is of a lie. Jesus warned us except our religion exceeded that of the Pharisees we would not enter the kingdom of God. Men would have a form of godliness, but denying the power. from such Paul, he has warned us to turn away. The foundation of the Lord stands sure, let every one who names the Lord Jesus to depart from iniquity. Job saith the Lord knows how I shall go, and when He is finished with me I shall be pure gold. In order to get all the rubbish out of gold, it must be heated in the furnace. Wax melts in the fire. Therefore, let us rejoice when we find ourselves in fiery temptations, knowing that the trying of our faith produces patience. Let patience have her finish work so that we will be complete.

  • #And many shall follow their pernicious ways; because of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 2 Peter 2:2

The Greek word for pernicious is Apoleia meaning destruction or loss. From a presumed derivative of Apollumi; ruin or loss (physical, spiritual or eternal) damnable waste. Romans 9:22 What if God, willing to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering, the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction? Peter and Paul are talking about the patience of God in how He endured the pernicious ways of the Israelites, staying His wrath, by not making known His power, endured the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction. That is exactly what He is doing by waiting on this crooked and perverse generation to turn to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ before His wrath is reckoned. Let us draw near with a clean heart and offer the fruit of thanksgiving that is the lips of praise for His great longsuffering to usward. Therefore, do not follow the pernicious ways of those false teachers, but follow the way of true righteousness and holiness in faith in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

  • #But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 Peter 2:1

The Greek word for damnable is Apoleia; meaning destruction, and loss. From a presumed derivative of Apollumi; ruin or loss (physical, spiritual or eternal) destruction, and perdition. Pernicious ways. The Greek word for heresies is Hairesis; meaning choice or opinion. Leviticus 22:18 Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them, Whatsoever he be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers in Israel, that will offer his oblation for all his vows and for all his freewill offering, which they will offer unto the LORD for a burnt offering; Peter is warning the Christians not to do what the false teachers and prophets in Israel did by profaning the holy thing of the children of Israel, which they offer unto the LORD. Ye shall offer at your own will a male without blemish, of the beeves of the sheep, or of the goats. But whatsoever hath a blemish, that shall ye not offer: for it shall not be acceptable for you. We must give Jehovah God our best, as Jesus is coming for a Church without spot or blemish. Whoever does not do this is a false prophet bringing damnable heresies upon the flock. Speak the truth in love and you shall be a true prophet and teacher of the Lord Jesus Christ, for He commanded us to love one another, just as He loves us and died on the cross for our sins.

  • #For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:21

The Greek word for Holy Ghost is Pneuma meaning Wind or Spirit. From Pneo; a current of air, i.e. Breath (blast) or a breeze; by analogy or figuratively, a spirit, i.e. (human) the rational soul vital principle, mental disposition, etc, an angel of God. Christ's Spirit, the Holy Spirit. Greek writings from Aeschylus and Herodotus down, Latainspiritus, i.e. 1 A movement of air. Acts 17:16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry. This is the Holy Ghost within Paul that came on Pentecost testifying to the Word of God stirring the spirit within Paul that Athens was wholly given over to idolatry. This is how God used the Holy Ghost to stir the spirit of all 40 authors of the Bible to write as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. Modern translations of the Bible do not use the Holy Ghost, but rather the Holy Spirit. They are all the same and we should use the King James translation of the Bible as it is the oldest contemporary version of the Bible.

  • #Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 2 Peter 1:20

The Greek word for interpretation is Epilysis meaning a release or explanation, i.e. Application. Genesis 40:8 And they said unto him, we have dreamed a dream and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me them, I pray you. This is the basis Peter is making that no scripture is of any private interpretation. All interpretations come from God by the power of the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament, they did not have the indwelling Holy Spirit as we do today, but the Holy Spirit would come upon them, and that is how Joseph was enabled to interpret the dreams We get the correct interpretation of the scriptures by reading the chapter before, and then the chapter after to get the correct interpretation. The forty authors of the Bible had the Holy Spirit to breathe divine inspiration into them; that is how we know the scriptures are God-inspired.

  • #We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place until the day dawn and the day star arise in your hearts. 2 Peter 1:19

The Greek word for day star is Phosphoros meaning light-bringing, the morning star. Aristophanes, Euripides, Plato, Plutarch, and others believed the planet Venus, the morning star, day star on the meaning of this passage.  We Christians believe that Jesus is the Light of the world, and Peter is comparing the day-star as a sign of the effulgence of the Lord Jesus for in the New Jerusalem there will be no need for the Sun, as He will light the New Heaven with His glory. Therefore, this is the more sure word of prophecy that we must take heed to and let the light of Christ shine in our hearts and minds as we seek to win others to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • #And this voice which came from heaven we heard when we were with Him in the holy Mount. 2 Peter 1:18

The Greek word for mount is Oros meaning a mountain. From an obsolete Oro (to rise or rear); perhaps akin to Airo; compare Arnis) as lifting itself above the plain. Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. The Heavenly Father thundered these words while Jesus configured Himself on the Mount of Transfiguration with Moses and Elijah. Jesus then told the disciples that they were the world's light, and a city was set on a hill and could not be hidden. We do this when we walk in the light as He is in the Light and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all ungodliness. May the Lord shine through us so that we are the salt of the world and preserve it from judgment. For if the salt has lost its flavor, it is good for nothing but to be trodden down under the feet of men. Help the mentally ill and divorced people of this world so that they can see the love of God through you.

  • #For He received from God the Father honor and glory when there came such a voice to Him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 2 Peter 1:17

Happy Veterans Day to all the veterans who are serving and have made the ultimate sacrifice. The Greek word for Son is Huios. A primary word; a son, is used very widely for immediate, remote, or figuratively, kinship--child. Mathew 21:5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek and sitting upon an ass and the foal of an ass. The Greek word for ass is Hypozygion meaning a beast of burden The heavenly Father honors His Son the Lord Jesus, by sending Him to save mankind, riding on a donkey, the foal of an ass. This shows His love for mankind as He saved us from our sins by dying on the cross meekly, and now He is seated on the right hand of the Father in heaven glorified. Meekness is strength under control and Jesus humbled Himself to death on the cross, and God the Father raised Him from the dead and said all power is in your hands. Jesus is waiting at the right hand of the Father for His enemies to become His footstool. So all you soldiers who serve this country well know that God will reward you when the Prince of Peace is sitting on the throne in Jerusalem as King of kings and Lord of Lords

  • #For we have not followed cunningly devised fables when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 2 Peter 1:16

The Greek word for fables is Mythos meaning a story or a speech or tale, i.e. Fiction 1 Timothy1:4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. Peter and Paul are admonishing the brothers and sisters not to listen to fiction, but to dwell on the fact that we were eyewitnesses of the power and coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. This so do and edify the saints according to the faith that comes with hearing and doing the word of God. Let us give thanks to our veterans who have served the country and made the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. Greater love hath no man than this that he lays down his life for his friends. That is what Jesus did for us on the cross. He is our ultimate majesty and we look forward to the day when He comes again to change our vile bodies into His glorious body.never again to die but to live forever in the kingdom of God.
