Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 2 Peter 1:20

The Greek word for interpretation is Epilysis meaning a release or explanation, i.e. Application. Genesis 40:8 And they said unto him, we have dreamed a dream and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me them, I pray you. This is the basis Peter is making that no scripture is of any private interpretation. All interpretations come from God by the power of the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament, they did not have the indwelling Holy Spirit as we do today, but the Holy Spirit would come upon them, and that is how Joseph was enabled to interpret the dreams We get the correct interpretation of the scriptures by reading the chapter before, and then the chapter after to get the correct interpretation. The forty authors of the Bible had the Holy Spirit to breathe divine inspiration into them; that is how we know the scriptures are God-inspired.

  • #We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place until the day dawn and the day star arise in your hearts. 2 Peter 1:19

The Greek word for day star is Phosphoros meaning light-bringing, the morning star. Aristophanes, Euripides, Plato, Plutarch, and others believed the planet Venus, the morning star, day star on the meaning of this passage.  We Christians believe that Jesus is the Light of the world, and Peter is comparing the day-star as a sign of the effulgence of the Lord Jesus for in the New Jerusalem there will be no need for the Sun, as He will light the New Heaven with His glory. Therefore, this is the more sure word of prophecy that we must take heed to and let the light of Christ shine in our hearts and minds as we seek to win others to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • #And this voice which came from heaven we heard when we were with Him in the holy Mount. 2 Peter 1:18

The Greek word for mount is Oros meaning a mountain. From an obsolete Oro (to rise or rear); perhaps akin to Airo; compare Arnis) as lifting itself above the plain. Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. The Heavenly Father thundered these words while Jesus configured Himself on the Mount of Transfiguration with Moses and Elijah. Jesus then told the disciples that they were the world's light, and a city was set on a hill and could not be hidden. We do this when we walk in the light as He is in the Light and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all ungodliness. May the Lord shine through us so that we are the salt of the world and preserve it from judgment. For if the salt has lost its flavor, it is good for nothing but to be trodden down under the feet of men. Help the mentally ill and divorced people of this world so that they can see the love of God through you.

  • #For He received from God the Father honor and glory when there came such a voice to Him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 2 Peter 1:17

Happy Veterans Day to all the veterans who are serving and have made the ultimate sacrifice. The Greek word for Son is Huios. A primary word; a son, is used very widely for immediate, remote, or figuratively, kinship--child. Mathew 21:5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek and sitting upon an ass and the foal of an ass. The Greek word for ass is Hypozygion meaning a beast of burden The heavenly Father honors His Son the Lord Jesus, by sending Him to save mankind, riding on a donkey, the foal of an ass. This shows His love for mankind as He saved us from our sins by dying on the cross meekly, and now He is seated on the right hand of the Father in heaven glorified. Meekness is strength under control and Jesus humbled Himself to death on the cross, and God the Father raised Him from the dead and said all power is in your hands. Jesus is waiting at the right hand of the Father for His enemies to become His footstool. So all you soldiers who serve this country well know that God will reward you when the Prince of Peace is sitting on the throne in Jerusalem as King of kings and Lord of Lords

  • #For we have not followed cunningly devised fables when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 2 Peter 1:16

The Greek word for fables is Mythos meaning a story or a speech or tale, i.e. Fiction 1 Timothy1:4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. Peter and Paul are admonishing the brothers and sisters not to listen to fiction, but to dwell on the fact that we were eyewitnesses of the power and coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. This so do and edify the saints according to the faith that comes with hearing and doing the word of God. Let us give thanks to our veterans who have served the country and made the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. Greater love hath no man than this that he lays down his life for his friends. That is what Jesus did for us on the cross. He is our ultimate majesty and we look forward to the day when He comes again to change our vile bodies into His glorious body.never again to die but to live forever in the kingdom of God.

  • #Moreover I will endeavor that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. 2 Peter 1:15

The Greek word for decease is Exodos meaning a departure. From Ek and Hodos; an exit (figuratively) death. Hebrews 11:22 By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel and gave commandment concerning his bones. Likewise, Peter is reminding the Christians to have all these words about his departure to be with the Lord in remembrance. Just like Joseph by faith commanded the Israelites before his death, to take his bones to be buried in Israel. We walk by faith and not by sight and should be proactive with our last will to our heirs. As we are heirs of the Lord Jesus Christ and joint heirs in the Abrahamic covenant. So as Christians, we know that when we die, we are absent from the body and present with the Lord. Therefore, we should provide a revocable trust so our heirs can receive their inheritance without having to go through the arduous process of probate

  • #Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath showed me. 2 Peter 1:14

The Greek word for knowing is Oida meaning to be aware, or behold and consider. Acts 4:20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. Peter is telling us to be aware that he is about to die and depart from his Tabernacle, to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, who revealed this to him. Jesus told him that when he was old, they would take him where he did not want to go, and there Peter would be crucified upside down. Just as Peter was able to see and behold the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ and His resurrection, we too can rejoice in that as the Lord was resurrected, we too who have trusted in Jesus will be resurrected to be in our glorified bodies. This gives us joy, as Paul said to live is Christ and to die is gain. Therefore, while we are in this Tabernacle, we need to crucify that fleshly man and put on the new man-made after Jesus Christ. For I must do the works of Jesus who called us, while it is day, for when the night shall come, no man can work.

  • #Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; 2 Peter 1:13

The Greek word for tabernacle is Skenoma meaning a tent. From Skenoo; an encampment, i.e. (figuratively) the Temple (as God's residence), the body (as a tenement for the soul) Acts 7:46 Who found favor before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob. Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen. Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David. Peter wants to enlighten the Christians to the fact that our bodies are a tent, that is why he uses tabernacle, as Moses used in the wilderness pointing to Christ. Therefore, we must realize that our permanent home is in heaven and now Jesus is baptizing Jews and Gentiles into the body of Christ the Church. Let us labor to enter in by faith looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and now is seated on the right hand of the Father in heaven interceding for us. This body is now the temple of the Holy Spirit, so let us not defile that temple through immorality of any kind putting on the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • #Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. 2 Peter 1:12

The Greek word for negligent is Ameleo meaning to be careless. Hebrews 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great a salvation: which at first began to be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed unto us by them that heard Him. Peter is warning Christians not to be careless about their salvation, whom the Lord Jesus warned in the parable of the sower who went to sow, as some seeds fell by the wayside, and the devil devoured the seeds. We shall not escape, if we neglect to allow the seeds to take root in our spirit and confirm in our inner man that we have been saved from our sins. Therefore, we must always put to remembrance these things, though ye know them, we must establish them in this present truth. For there will be some who will say, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and cast out demons? The Lord will say I never knew you, depart from Me ye that work lawlessness.

  • #A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. Proverbs 17:17

The Hebrew word for friend is Rea; meaning companion or fellow; an associate; From Raah this can be a Pastor. I went to a co-worker who was a true friend at work that passed away. The Pastor who did the eulogy used as a title "It is finished" That is what Jesus said on the cross when he paid our sin debt. Now we are forgiven. I thank God for I used this verse for my brother's funeral too. When we love the Lord Jesus Christ and die, we have passed from death to life. So it is sad to not see our loved ones anymore, but comforting to know that they are in the arms of Jesus never to die again. Thank God Jesus promised never to leave us or to forsake us but will be with us until the end of the age.
