A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

#For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God, the heavens were of old and the earth standing out of the water and in the water. 2 Peter 3:5
The Greek word for ignorant is Lanthano; meaning to escape notice. Often used adverbially, unwittingly to be hidden and unaware. Hebrews 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. As we prepare to celebrate the first Advent of our Lord Jesus Christ we are told to not forget to entertain strangers. The Christmas Season is all about angels, as Gabriel told the Virgin Mary that she was highly favored and that the Holy Ghost would come upon her. Thank God the Virgin Mary believed the report and said behold, the handmaiden of the Lord, be it unto me according to thy will. Likewise, angels will be very active in the second Advent of our Lord Jesus Christ, and we must not be ignorant of the word of God, as the heavens were of old and as the earth standing out of the water and in the water. Noah believed the report and prepared an ark for the saving of his household. Jesus said it would be like the days of Noah, for they had never seen it rain, but God held the rain in the clouds above the earth. The scoffers are willingly ignorant of this truth, and just as the antediluvians perished when the flood came, all those who fail to repent will perish when Jesus returns the second time in the great tribulation. Whosoever will call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved from the wrath to come. God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that they could be saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
#And saying, Where is the promise of His coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 2 Peter 3:4
The Greek word for fell asleep is Koimaomai; meaning to die. From Keimai; to put to sleep, i.e. (passively or reflexively) to slumber; figuratively, to decrease or be dead. 1 Corinthians 11:30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. Peter is pointing out that these scoffers are mocking their dead fathers, by saying since they have died, the Lord has not come as He promised. There is an immutable truth: God can't lie, so since He has told us He is coming back, we can hold to this truth as a comfort to the soul. Many people were taking the Lord's supper in vain, and because of it they fell sick and died. By believing in the coming again of Jesus we are purifying our souls, even as it has already been sanctified by the blood of Jesus.
#Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last day's scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 2 Peter 3:3
The Greek word for scoffers is Empaiktes; meaning a mocker, by implication a false teacher. From Empaizo; a derider. Jude 1:18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. Peter and Jude warn that in the last days before the Lord returns to earth scoffers walking after their own lust will blaspheme the holy commandments walking in their ungodly lust. Jesus said in the last days before His second coming there would be false prophets and that it would be as it was in the days of Noah and Lot that they would be marrying and giving in marriage. As we prepare to celebrate Christmas let us be mindful of these scoffers for they will not want to hear about Jesus coming again. They would rather He stays a Babe in the manger. But He is coming back as King of kings and Lord of lords. He said there would be wars and rumors of wars, but see that ye be not troubled, for the end is not yet. He warned they would hate us for His name's sake. The Holy Spirit will tell us what to say for our deliverance. So take heed and watch and pray for ye know not when our Lord shall return. As in the First Advent, there was no room in the Inn for Mary and Joseph; that is why Jesus was born in barn yard stables with the oxen loing
#That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour. 2 Peter 3:2
The Greek word for prophets is Prophetes; (an interpreter or forth-teller of the divine will) From a compound of Pro and Phemi; a foreteller, by analogy an inspired speaker, a poet. Exodus 7:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. The Holy Spirit has anointed some to be prophets according to the will of God, just like Aaron Moses's brother to tell us of things that the Holy Spirit has inspired us to say. The Holy apostles were eye-witnesses of the Majesty of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and Jesus told them after His resurrection to tarry ye here until ye shall be endued with power from above. So on the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came and these men could turn the world upside down by the revelations given to them. Luke 6:26 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you; for so did their fathers to the false prophets. We must be careful not to be led astray by the false prophets of our day, who seek the praise of men, rather than of God. John the Baptist said it best" I must decrease, and He must increase" A true prophet of the Lord Jesus Christ will always glorify Him and speak the words that the Holy Spirit gives to him.
#This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you: in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance. 2 Peter 3:1
The Greek word for epistle is Epistole; meaning a letter. From Epistello; a written message. Philippians 3:1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe. Peter wrote this second epistle while he was in the last days of his life on earth as an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ, who told him that if he loved Me, to feed my sheep. That is why he wrote this letter to stir up their pure minds and to remember the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Paul also wrote several epistles and this one to the Philippians he told them to rejoice in the Lord. That is the theme of the Christian life. As we prepare our hearts to rejoice in the Lord this Christmas Season, let us remember those whose loved ones have been called home to be with Jesus. Many people get sad and lonely this time of the year thinking about them, but we must remember to live is Christ and to die is gain. Let us always remember that our loved ones are only given to us for a season. Jesus loves them more and has prepared a home in heaven for us to rejoice evermore in the glory of our Lord and Savior. So just comfort one another with these words that those who sleep in the grave will be the first to get their glorified bodies, and then we who are alive will be changed in the twinkling of an eye to be caught up in the clouds to forever be with the Lord and our loved ones. Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.
#The people who sat in darkness saw great light and to them who sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. Matthew 4:16
Happy Hanukkah as we celebrate the Greatest Light of the world. The Greek word for light is Phos; meaning fire. From an obsolete Phao (to shine or make manifest, especially by rays; compare Phaino, Phemi) Luminousness (in the widest application, natural or artificial, abstract or concrete, literal or figurative) 2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who commanded the Light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. As we prepare to celebrate Christmas let us dwell on the fact, that before the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, the whole world sat in darkness. So God in eternity past commanded the Light to shine out of darkness, into our hearts. 2000 years ago the world was not prepared for this great light, as they went about doing evil and King Herod tried to have the Light put out by killing all babies two years up. But God told Joseph in a dream to take Mary and the Baby Lord Jesus into Egypt until wicked Herod died. Satan has been trying to stop the fire of Christ from shining in our hearts ever since, but the Holy Spirit keeps the fire burning. That same Holy Spirit impregnated the Virgin Mary with the Lord Jesus Christ. This Christmas Season let us shine the love of Jesus into the hearts of those living in darkness by doing acts of kindness. Look for someone to bless with this good news that the Lord Jesus is coming again as the Prince of Peace to stop all wars and establish His kingdom. Let us make sure that there is room in our hearts for Jesus, for His coming will be as a thief in the night. So let us watch and pray daily and keep the fire burning bright.
#But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb. The dog is turned to his vomit again and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. 2 Peter 2:22
The Greek word for sow is Hys; meaning a Hog. A primary word; is a hog (Swine) sow. This passage in scripture is known as the prodigal pig. Similar to the prodigal son, who ended up in a pigpen, but said, I shall return to my Father's house, for even the servants eat better food than this. The prodigal pig, dressed up like a sheep and got clean, but realized the other pigs wallowing in the mire were having more fun than he was, so he said I shall return to the pigpen, for that is my true nature. The moral of the story is you can dress the pig up like a sheep, but you cannot change the nature of a pig. Jesus said my sheep hear my voice, and a stranger's voice they will not follow. This Christmas Season do not forget that that you are a son of God, and joint heirs with the Lord Jesus Christ. So do not get into the pigpen. For Jesus was born a Babe in the manger so He could call us sons, and not pigs. We have been washed in the blood of Jesus and we are clean forevermore.
#For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 2 Peter 2:21
The Greek word for righteousness is Dikaiosyne; meaning justice. From Dikaios; equity ( of character or act); especially (Christian) justification. This justification comes by faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ—Luke 1:75 In holiness and righteousness before Him, all the days of our life. As we celebrate Christmas we see the reason why Jesus was incarnate in the flesh, in His Hypostatic character he was God and man at the same time. For Jesus to die on the cross for our sins He set aside His prerogatives of deity so He could taste death for every man. For in Adam, we all die, and in Jesus, the last Adam, we are made alive in righteousness. Peter is telling us that for you to know the way of righteousness, and to turn away from the holy commandment delivered unto you, it would be better if you had not known, for judgment will be greater for you.
#For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 2 Peter 2:20
The Greek word for entangled is Empleko; meaning to weave in or to involve with. 2 Timothy 2:4 No man that warreth entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please Him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. The Lord Jesus has called us out of this world into His army and we must forsake the things of this world. For all that is in the world: the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life, are not of the Father. The world and all of its lust will pass away, but he that doeth the will of the Father shall abide forever. Therefore, do not weave in and get involved with the things of this world. Be a good soldier of the Lord Jesus Christ and endure hardness. Peter said these people had started well, having escaped the pollution of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, but they weaved into the worldly system and their end was worse than the beginning. As we celebrate Christmas let us keep Jesus the centerfold of the season and not get caught up in drunkenness and overeating. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provisions for the flesh to fulfill its lust.
#While they promise them liberty, they are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. 2 Peter 2:19
The Greek word for bondage is Douluo; meaning to enslave or bring under subjection. Acts 7:6 And God spake on this wise, That His seed should sojourn in a strange land and that they should bring them into bondage and entreat them evil four hundred years. Peter is comparing the bondage of the false teachers to the enslavement of the Israelites in Egypt for four hundred years. They promised liberty while they through the lusts of the flesh brought many into corruption. We must guard against this slavery to sin, for we have been baptized into the Lord Jesus Christ and died to that old sinful nature. There is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus but have crucified the flesh with its lusts. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed. If we continue in His commandments ye shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free. God used Moses to bring the children of Israel out of bondage and corruption. Today He is using the Holy Spirit to liberate us from the bondage of sin.
