Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness. 5:19

The Greek word for Uncleanness: is Akatharsia. From akathartos; meaning impurity (the quality), physically or morally. Romans 1:24,25 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Paul is warning the Galatians of the temptations of the flesh, and how it wars against the Spirit. We must walk in the spirit of man so that we do not fulfill the desires of the flesh. It is not a sin to be tempted, only if we yield to the temptation. God is faithful and He promises that He will not tempt us more than we are able to bear, who will with the temptation make a way of escape so that we can bear it. Husbands love your wives and render due benevolence unto them. For the body is not your own, but the wife's, and the wife's body is not her own but the husband's. Only come apart for a season, lest ye be tempted for prayer and fasting, then come together again.

  • #But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the Law. Galatians 5:18

The Greek word for Led is Ago; meaning to bring. a primary verb; properly to lead, drive, (especially) pass, or induce 2 Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eight-person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing the flood upon the world of the ungodly;  And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example unto those that should after live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked. Noah and Lot are examples of men who the Spirit led did not yield to the flesh and were delivered from the overthrow.

  • #For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. Galatians 5:17

The Greek word for the contrary is Antikeimai; meaning to lie opposite, oppose, and withstand. From Anti and Keimai; to lie opposite, i.e. Be adverse (figuratively, repugnant) to be an adversary. 1 Timothy 1:10,11 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. Paul is telling the Galatians that the flesh and the Spirit are opposite and contrary to one with the other. So we must walk in the Spirit to have control over the flesh. The Law was given until the Seed should come, for it was added because of transgressions. For instance, you become a lawbreaker the moment you are knowledgeable about the law. Christ is the Seed that came from the promised son, Isaac, and Ismael is a type of the flesh that wars against the Spirit. So we must put to death the flesh every day, and feed the spirit man the Word of God so that we become stronger.

  • #This, I say then, walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16

The Greek word for Lust is Epithymia; meaning desire, passionate longing  Epihumeo; is a longing (especially for what is forbidden) concupiscence. 1 Thessalonians 2:17 But we brethren, being taken from you for a short period in time in presence, not in heart, endeavored the more abundantly to see your face with great desire. Paul is telling the Galatians what is good, and not evil. The Spirit of God gives us the power to walk as pleasing the Lord, and not following the desires of the flesh. 1 John 2:15,16,17, Love, not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust thereof, but he that doeth the will of the Father abideth forever.

  • #But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. Galatians 5:15

The Greek word for Bite is Dakno; meaning to bite. A prolonged form of the primary root, to bite, i.e. (figuratively) thwart. Metaphorically to wound the soul, cut, lacerate, and rend with reproaches. So even in Homer, Menander quoted in Athens and times without number in other authors. Paul is telling the Galatians to love one another and stop biting one another with their teeth, as the whole law of God is fulfilled in one word Love. We need to come together as a country, stand behind President-Elect Trump, and pray that God can use him to unite this country and that traditional marriage will once again be supreme in the Land. God made Adam for Eve, and not Steve, and it is time that we promote this kind of marriage for our grandchildren. What kind of a country do we want to leave for our children's children? One nation undivided, with Liberty, and Justice for all.

  • #For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Galatians 5:14

The Greek word for love is Agapao; to love. Compare Phileo from philos to be a friend, i.e have affection for; while agapao is wider embracing especially the judgment and the deliberate consent of the will as a matter of principle, duty, and propriety; the former being chiefly of the heart and latter of the head. To kiss as Paul told the church to greet one another with a kiss as a spirit of love. The whole law is fulfilled in this one word.  John 5:20 For the Father loveth the Son and showeth Him all things that Himself doeth, and He will show Him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. Jesus said a new commandment give I unto thee, that you love one another as I have loved you. When we love our neighbor like ourselves we will do no evil to them. 1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God when we love God, and keep His commandments.

  • #For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Galatians 5:13

The Greek word for serve is Douleuo; meaning to be a slave. Be in bondage, do service. From Doulos; to be a slave to (literal or figurative, involuntary or voluntary) 1 Timothy 6:2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort. Paul is exhorting the Galatians to serve their masters lovingly and not to use their liberty as an opportunity to sin. We have not used the term slave since the Civil War, but the employer and employee relationship should be that of love, agape to unconditionally love one another as the Lord Jesus loved us and gave Himself for us on the cross. Now we are redeemed from the slavery of sin. So let us do good to all men, especially those of the household of faith. Pray for one another and serve as a waiter or waitress. For Jesus came not to be served, but to serve and give Himself a ransom for our sins.

  • #I would they were even cut off which troubles you. Galatians 5:12

The Greek word for cut-off is Apokopto; meaning to cut off. From Apo and kopto; to amputate reflexively ( irony) to mutilate (the privy parts) compare Katatome; meaning concision. Philippians 3:2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. Where Paul sarcastically alludes to the word that follows as though he would say keep your eye on that boasted circumcision or to call it by its true name concision or mutilation. Kata means down against. it retains many of these applications in composition and frequently denotes opposition, distribution, or intensity.  Paul is agitated at these Judiezers and wants to mutilate them from the Galatians. We must follow the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provisions for the flesh. Matthew 8:32 And He said unto them, Go. When they came out, they went into the herd of swine, and behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea and perished in the water. This is what Paul wants to happen to the Judiezers, just as Jesus cast out the demons from the man. May the Lord deliver us from all the works of the devil and save us by the power of the Holy Spirit.

  • #And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I suffer persecution? Then, the offense of the cross ceased. Galatians 5:11
The Greek word for persecution is Dioko; meaning to put to flight, pursue, by implication to persecute. Luke 21:12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. Jesus is telling us the cost of being a disciple that we will be persecuted and put in prison for His name's sake and brought before kings and rulers. We must keep the faith, for those who live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. If you suffer with Christ you will reign with Him. God has chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. So rejoice in that you have been counted worthy to suffer for Him.

  • #I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded, but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. Galatians 5:10

Happy Veterans Day to all those who serve and have served. Greater love hath no man than this than to lay down his life for his friends. The Greek word for troubleth is Tarasso; meaning to stir up. Of uncertain affinity, to stir or agitate (roll water) trouble. I worked as an overhaul technician, and my job was to rebuild transmissions that caused the agitation in washing machines. This was a great job, and I was very satisfied. with it. God gives us the ability to earn income, but as it is with some people who agitate you in your work. This is what the Judiezers were doing to Paul as he was preaching salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, but they were saying you are saved by keeping the Mosaic law. If anyone could be saved by keeping the law, then Jesus Christ died in vain. John 5:4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. Jesus asked the man who had an infirmity of thirty-eight years wilt thou be made whole? The man answered Him, Sir, I have no man when the water is troubled to put me into the pool. Jesus said to him Rise take up thy bed and walk. Afterward, Jesus findeth him in the temple and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole, sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. Many of us are in trouble because we continue to sin. Jesus healed this made and told him to sin no more lest a worse thing come unto him. What is the worst thing that can happen? The sin unto death. God uses trouble to keep us in tune with the word of God. For whom the Lord loves He chastens and no chastening seems joyous, but it works the peaceable fruits of righteousness to those exercised thereby. So thank God for your troubles for they came to make you a stronger Christian.
