Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #The salutation by the hand of me Paul. Remember my bonds. Grace be with you. Amen, (Written from Rome to Colossians by Tychicus and Onesimus.)

Paul wanted the Colossian believers to remember his bonds. For him faithfully endured the affliction in prison to preach the mystery of Christ. Grace be with all of us and thank God for Tychicus and Onesimus who wrote this epistle for Paul while he was in bonds, for we are better because of it. Let us rejoice in the Lord always giving thanks to Him for all the blessings He has bestowed upon us.

  • #And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfill it. Col. 4:17

Paul is concerned that Archippus do not neglect the ministry which was given to him and that he burns into flame the fire of the Holy Spirit. Paul wanted him to learn from his example to run the race, keep the faith, and finish the course. For there is a crown of righteousness for all those who do so. Also, all those who live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. For these light and momentary afflictions are working an eternal glory in us. So we too must run to win, not as one that beats the air, but keeping the body under discipline so that you will receive the reward at the appearing of Christ Jesus.

  • #And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea. Col. 4:16

Paul is concerned about the Laodicean church, as much as our Lord in Rev. 3:20 when He said behold I stand at the door knocking. Interesting that He is outside of the Church rather than inside because it was a lukewarm church. They were rich in material goods but poor in the faith which is the true riches. He challenged them to put on eye salve so that they could see their nakedness and buy gold tried in the fire. So He warned all those I love I chasten and charged them to repent. We are living in the age of the Laodicean Church and we too must repent before the Lord comes to spew us out of His mouth. So as Paul said let this epistle be read in every church today for it is very relevant.

  • #Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea and Nymphas and the church which is in his house. Col. 4:15

Nymphas is a brother who was wealthy and was having church in his home in Laodicea, the term nymph in the Greek means girl: so it is possible the gender could mean a woman. It is the only time in the Bible that Nymphas is mentioned. This is how the early church met in homes of believers who were wealthy enough to host them and as we get closer to the return of Christ, I believe churches will once again meet in homes. Salute all those who host these meetings.

  • #Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas greet you. Col. 4:14

Paul is the only Apostle to name Luke as a doctor and as we read the gospel of Luke we can see that his teaching of the Lord gave details that a medical doctor would give. What a blessing to have a doctor in the family as my oldest daughter is a medical doctor and a resident at Baylor College of Medicine. Demas has been restored to the faith and him along with doctor Luke sends greetings to the believers in Colosse.

  • #For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis. Col. 4:13

Paul is thankful for all that Epaphras has done in helping him to preach the gospel to Laodicea and Hierapolis, for the believers are waxing strong in the Lord because of this testimony. Now I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving enjoy turkey with family and friends giving thanks for the fellowship that you have with one another in the Lord.

  • #Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. Col.4:12

Paul is thankful for Epaphras who remembered to pray for everyone as a servant of Christ while saluting the brethren, that ye could stand perfect and complete in Christ in the will of God. What a believer to have on your team he was, and we modern day Christians can learn from his example. How the Church needs prayer warriors like Epaphras.

  • #Aristarchus my fellow-prisoner saluteth you and Marcus, sister's son to Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he comes unto you, receive him;) and Jesus, which is called Justus, who are of the circumcision. These only are my fellow-workers unto the kingdom of God, which have been a comfort unto me. Col. 4:10,11

Paul was thankful for his fellow-workers and fellow-prisoners as God used them to help him spread the gospel. We should be thankful for our families this Thanksgiving season as life is much more enjoyable when you have others to share it with. May we not forget how they helped us through the difficulties of life, for in this God is praised and we count it all joy.

  • #Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your estate and comfort your hearts; With Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother who is one of you. They shall make known unto you all things which are done here. Col. 4:8,9

Paul won the runaway slave Onesimus to Christ and now he is a faithful brother who is being used by the Church to deliver good news as well as comfort the hearts of the believers. Paul said in Gal. 6:10 Do good to all men especially those of the household of faith. Now is the time as we celebrate the National Day of Thanksgiving that we do good to all men encouraging families to come together in unity for the good of the family giving thanks to the Lord for all of His wonderful blessing bestowed on all of us.

  • #All my state shall Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved and a faithful minister and fellow-servant in the Lord: Col. 4:7

Tychicus had a good reputation for being a good minister to the Apostle Paul, and thus he could declare his state in prison to the Colossians. It is so good to be a faithful minister of the Lord for when we get to heaven we want to hear those faithful words well done my good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord.
