Welcome to Ning

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold is as pictures of silver.(Prov.25:11) It is so important to speak the right words to people at the right time to produce the right results. When you think of apples of gold in pictures of silver, then you are thinking of wealth and excellence. When we speak wisdom into the lives of others we are making them wealthy. Therefore we must seek God for He is the source of all wisdom and He will give us just the right words needed at the right time.

  • #And Abraham said of Sarah, his wife, She is my sister, and Abimelech, king of Gerar, sent and took Sarah. But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken, for she is a man's wife. But Abimelech had not come near her, and he said, Lord wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against Me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. Now therefore restore the man his wife, for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live; and if thou restore her not, know that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine. Therefore, Abimelech rose early in the morning and called his servants and told all these things in their ears; and the men were sore afraid. Genesis 20:2-8  Is lying ever a good thing?

The Hebrew word for integrity is Tom, meaning perfect, prosperous, full, and upright. Abraham told Abimelech Sarah was his sister, and Sarah too told Abimelech he was my brother. Both of them told a half-truth. But in the court of law, you must tell the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God. They put Abimelech in a deadly situation, so God caused a dream to come upon Abimelech, and God told him the whole truth, that the woman he had taken was another man's wife. And if you fail to restore her to her husband, you will surely die. Abimelech proves to be a righteous man and restores her because God told him Abraham is a prophet and he will pray for you. So Abimelech does not touch her, and God lets him live because of his integrity. Is lying ever a good thing? We are tempted to lie to save our lives as Abrahah and Sarah did, but we put other people in peril when we do. So we must always tell the truth, and trust God to work things together for our good, and His glory. So the next time you are tempted to lie, even a white lie, but all lies are sinful, and we must repent by confessing our sin to God, who is faithful and will cleanse us from all unrighteousness. This story in the Bible serves as a lesson for us about the importance of telling the truth, the whole truth, and leaving the consequences to God. So is lying ever a good thing? The truth is that lying is never a good thing, so always tell the whole truth. Many marriages could be restored if we always told the truth. Remember, love bears all things, believes all things, and rejoices in the truth. So if you love your spouse, always tell them the truth, even if it hurts them, and God will save you from death, as He did for Abimelech.

Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she even she herself said he is my brother; in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. Both Abraham and Sarah lied and tried to justify it, so God used Abimelech to convict them of their sin and to teach them the lesson to tell the whole truth and let God take care of the rest.

  • #And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction. 1 Corinthians 7:35   Marriage can be a distraction

The Greek word for comely is eushemon, meaning well-formed, decorous, noble, and honorable, but I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord. But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. There is also a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. But if any man think that he behaved himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry. Nevertheless, he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well. So then he that giveth he in marriage doeth will; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better.

Marriage can be a distraction. But it is better to marry than to dwell in lusts. For the marriage bed is holy, and undefiled, yet adulterers and fornicators shall be judged. Paul is speaking of himself, who has the gift of celibacy, and serving the Lord is better than being married. Let every man and woman abide in the gifts that the Lord has given to them. Marriage is ordained by God, and it is good for a man not to be alone, so this is why marriage is far better. Not all men are like Paul, and therefore should seek out a wife, and whoso finds a good wife has favor with God. It is my prayer that you will do the will of the Lord and remain holy. For without holiness no man will see the Lord. So be at peace with all men, and keep your virgin holy, which is pleasing to the Lord.

  • #I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20    Be crucified with Christ

The Greek word for crucified is Sustauroo, meaning to impale in company with. But if while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ therefore the minister of sin? God forbid. For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness came by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Be crucified with Christ. This is what the Apostle Paul taught the Galatians, who were turning back to the law for salvation. The law is the schoolmaster that brought us to Christ, and we are saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that not of ourselves. We are in company with Christ on the cross, as Paul said I am crucified with Christ, therefore, I live, but not I; Christ lives in me, and this life I live in the flesh is by the faith of the Son of God, who loves me. We cannot frustrate the grace of God because Christ fulfilled the law and has saved us by His grace. Therefore, put to death those things in the flesh, and walk by the Spirit so that you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. It is my prayer that you will do this today and receive the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart as your Personal Savior.

  • #But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 2 Timothy 3:13  Perilous days are here

    The Greek word for seducers is Goao, meaning a wizard and an imposter. But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me in Antioch at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured; but out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yes, and all who live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them. And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness;

Perilous days are here, and we are being tested like never before, as evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. Weep and howl, you rich men, for your riches are moth-eaten, and the Lord of Saboth shall punish you for the fraud you caused to your workers. Revelation 9:21 For they would not repent of their murders, and sorceries, and thefts, and fornications. We are seeing drug dealers from Colombia and Venezuela committing these heinous crimes, and thank God the Government is tracking these evil people down. Yet, they are deceiving others while they themselves are being deceived. Paul is telling the young minister about the trials and persecutions he suffered, and yet the Lord Jesus Christ delivered him. And all those who live godly shall suffer persecution. So arm yourselves, not with Smith and westons, but with the word of God. For Timothy was taught the word of God as a child, which made him wise unto salvation through faith which is in Jesus Christ. So study to show thyself approved, a workman who needs not to be ashamed, but rightly divides the word of God.

  • #For all they did cast in of their abundance, but she, of her want, did cast in all that she had, even all her living. Mark 12:44 It is more blessed to give than to receive.

The Greek word for want is Husteresis, meaning a falling short, especially penury. And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury; and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And He called unto Him His disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than all they which have cast into the treasury.

It is more blessed to give than to receive, and this poor widow, in money, is rich in faith. Jesus marveled at her faith in the Lord and how the rich people gave of their abundance, but she gave of that which she needed. What faith do we need to live a godly life is shown to us by this widow, for Jesus has praised her for her great faith in the Lord. I pray that all of us will learn from her example as we give to the Lord, for God loves a cheerful giver. We must give God the first fruits and not the leftovers, for whoso sows sparringly shall reap sparringly, but whoso soweth bountifully shall reap bountifully. I pray that the Lord will increase our faith as He did for this widow, for all things are possible with God.

  • #But as for you, ye thought evil against me, but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save many people alive. Genesis 50:20  God is working all things together for our good and His glory

The Hebrew word for good is towb, meaning a good man or a good woman. So shall ye say unto Joseph, forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil; and now we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him. And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants. And Joseph said unto them, Fear not; for am I in the place of God? Now therefore fear ye not, I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them. And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he and his father's house, and Joseph lived a hundred and ten years. And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation; the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh, were brought up upon Joseph's knees.

God is working all things together for our good and His glory. Joseph is like our Lord Jesus Christ, for he suffered evil at the hands of his brethren, and our Lord said Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. And Joseph also forgave his brethren and did not seek to get revenge for the evil that they did unto him. We can learn much from the life of Joseph, as God allowed him to suffer through various trials to bring him to Egypt, where he could save his people from the seven years of famine that were afflicting the land. God put it in the heart of Joseph to see the good that God had done in all his troubles to save many people. This verse is the Hall of Fame verse for Joseph, for he is one of the many people who made the Hall of Fame chapter of Hebrews 11

Always trust God in every season of life, because God knows the end from the beginning, and never complain as Joseph never did. Joseph prospered in every area of life and reaped the good seeds that he sowed. God blessed Joseph to live 110 years, and he saw the third generation of Ephraim's children and of the children of Machir, the son of Manasseh, and bounced them on his knees like every grandfather loves to do. What a beautiful story this is in the Bible, and I would love to see a movie made about this so that all generations will be blessed by the example of Joseph. May the Lord bless me to do what Joseph did to his family by forgiving them of all the things they said about me, too. When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be, as the great hymn of the Church goes, for when we see Jesus, we will shout and sing the victory.

  • #But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 1 Corinthians 11:3  Let every one abide under the head

The Greek word for head is Kephale, as the part most readily taken hold of in the sense of seizing. Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoreth her head; for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn; but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

Let everyone abide under the head. Paul is telling the Christians to follow him as he follows the Lord Jesus Christ, and as the head of every man is Christ, and the head of every woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God. We all must abide in the state that God has called us. The glory of the woman is her long hair, and if she is shaven, it is a shame. So let her wear her hair to the glory of her husband, and let the man follow Christ, since Christ is the head of the man. For God resists the proud and gives glory unto the humble. So humble thyself under the mighty hand of the Lord, and in due season He will exalt thee. The home is broken up today, because many men have forsaken their role as the head, and have become the tail. Be ye followers of Christ, as I am, and lead and love your wife as Christ loves the Church and gave himself for her.

  • #Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23  Guard your heart

The Hebrew word for diligence is Mishmar, meaning a place of confinement, watch. My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

Guard your heart. Solomon is giving us great wisdom, for we must place our bodies in a place of confinement and watch over it with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. How many STDs''s are caught because one did not watch over their eyes. Lust not after the strange woman, for a whorish woman brings a man to poverty. Flee sexual immorality, for all sin of this type is against thine own body. Let thine eyes look right on, and do not let your eyelids lust after her. Put away from thee profane language, and speak the truth to thine neighbor. Think about where your feet will take thee, that all thy ways may be established. Enjoy the wife of thy youth, and let her breasts satisfy thee at all times. This is healthy for your body and will preserve your soul from promiscuity. Watch what your eyes look at, and seek out pure things that nourish the mind. Whatever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, if there be any virtue, think upon these things. Grieve not the Holy Spirit when He rebukes you, and be fast to repent when your heart is lusting. When we do these things, we can live a holy life and have a long life. For whom the Lord loves, He disciplines. Thank God for keeping us on the right path.

  • #Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25 Provoke one another to love and good works

The Greek word for exhorting is Parakaleo, meaning to call near, and encourage or admonish. Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works. For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins. But a certain fearful looking for judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without  mercy under two or three witnesses:

Provoke one another to love and good works. This is the Greek word Agape, for unconditional love for our brothers and sisters, and praying for our enemies to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This is why we must get on one another's nerves about assembling together and encouraging one another. It is so easy for us to become discouraged with all the bad news, so let us encourage one another with the good news of the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We do not know who wrote the epistle to the Hebrews, but it has all the earmarks of the apostle Paul, and he wrote 1 Corinthians 13, the love chapter, telling us that love bears all things, believes all things, and keeps no record of wrongs; love never fails. This is the encouragement we need to keep us faithful to our Lord, and exhorting one another as we see the day of Christ approaching. We are getting close to Valentine's Day, so you will be hearing a lot about love. Agape, Pheleo, and Eros, and all of these are good in marriage, so let us encourage our spouses to render due benevolence to one another in the Lord. Marriage is under attack, and Satan wants to destroy it because it glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ. So come together and do not be like those who forsake the assembling together. May the Lord bless all of you in these perilous days that we are living in.

  • #But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. 1 Corinthians 9:27  Paul beat his body under subjection to prevent being a castaway.

The Greek word for subjection is Doulagogeo, meaning to be a slave driver. To subdue. Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown, but we have an incorruptible one. I therefore run, not as uncertainly, so fight I, not as one that beateth the air.

Paul beat his body under subjection to prevent being a castaway. That word subjection means to be a slave driver. Paul was a sports analyst, as he liked to watch the Olympic Games, and he could see how hard they had to train to win the prize. They did it to win a corruptible one, while we win an incorruptible one. Therefore, we must run to win. Preaching to others is serious, as we are an epistle to all men, to one we are the aroma of life, and to the other an aroma of death. So do not become a castaway by not preaching the whole gospel to the people. For we must all stand before the Bema Seat of Christ to answer for the things done in the body, and this is where we receive our incorruptible crowns if we run well. So run not as beating the air. For that would be in vain. Subdue your body and discipline it to keep the mastery that is necessary to win the race. We want to hear the Lord say Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord.
